Just watch The Killing. I've seen nothing better on the screen (small or big) in a while. Joel Kinnaman is a rare, wonderful actor. He kicked ass as Steven Holder in The Killing. Just check it out. You'll see what I, and other Kinnaman fans, are so excited about. What a treasure to the screen.
I watched this after reading in an article (aprox quote) "he is nearly unrecognizable out of character" and found that was indeed true. I am incredibly impressed. As Holder in "The Killing," he is so constant in regards to accent, expressions and body language. To be able to be constant in any of those, especially so different from one's own, is admirable. To possess the talent to maintain all three in every scene, a rare talent.
Now THAT is an actor. he has such a special quality in front of the camera. It's amazing to watch. I've not been familiar with him prior to "The Killing." But he and the woman who plays the other detective, well, the two of them could not be less like their characters. Brilliant casting, really. There's a reason why AMC always seems to get it right.
This is so cute and sweet. His accent sounds like he was in the middle of intermediate level English classes. Wow it's amazing what 4 years and a fuck load of ambition can do to you... And how it can change you... I'm binge watching the killing shit I Thot he WAS American.
I think it is so weird that he grew up bilingual with an american father but has a really thick swedish accent when he speaks english (outside a movie). I would have never guessed that he's bilingual. On the other hand, Alexander Skarsgård, who is swedish, but did not grew up bilingual has IMO an accent free english. But then again I am neither american nor a native english speaker..maybe it sounds different to americans ..
Honestly it sounds like one of those stories where the mom and dad split up, tho not legally but as usual the mother ended up stuck with the kid while the American dad flew back home. Like a NSA type relationship between the two. So it makes sense- only from another females perspective.😒😏
Karin Bacher most people who speak English but yet were raised on a different first language at the same time do not speak with our same American accent unless they grew up here in America around American children and others. Imo 😊😗 but he def doesn't have this accent anymore in 2018😎💕
If you would watch if you would not be worried. He is amazing. And he is a die hard fan of the original Robocop. Since he actually was convinced to do the movie, I have no doubt that it has a great chance of being awesome. :)
@kanelic It was a joke. I do understand where they're coming from. A better way to put such a ridiculous question to get the same answer would be - 'When preparing for a role, how do you start to develop an understanding of the character?'. Then the interviewee can either answer them and explain their creative process, or simply say 'It's not important for me to relate to the character'. That way, the actor ends up looking stupid, not the interviewer.
'Is it important for you to relate to the character you're playing?'. 'No, not at all. I couldn't give a shit about the character's history, the where, the why, the who, the how etc, all that Stanivlasky and Brect shit. I just dress up in their clothes, put on a bad impression of their voice and read lines off a script and like a child, pretend I'm someone else. it's not work, it's fun fun fun playtime'. Fucking stupid quiestion.
The lady doesn't getting the title right "snabba(swedish) money(english)" WTF? It is "snabba cash" as the title is or "fast cash" if you want it in English.
Alright, I got nothing against this guy nor that I know him, but this guy is the new Alex Murphy/Robocop and so far I don't think it is a wise choice, but let us see what happens.

@VYD239 It's just a question to get him talking. You don't understand where the interviewers are coming from.
If you would watch if you would not be worried. He is amazing. And he is a die hard fan of the original Robocop. Since he actually was convinced to do the movie, I have no doubt that it has a great chance of being awesome. :)
