Always good to clear swarfe with your measuring equipment.
The part was made back to front, all surfaces to be machined on the final location should only be left minimal up on size to be true to the rest.
Grinder with sanding disc is not a finishing tool.
You didn't put the woodruff key slot in the piece, you can't time the gear without it. Nice repair 😇🙏
Title should read " Watch an amateur muck around with a lathe"
it's better to hotpress a bushing rather making this screw connection. also it's important to get all 5 or 7 lobes lined up with up to at least 0.03mm distortion.
and looking at the camshaft lobe cutting process I'd say that it is made of steel, not cast iron. junk anyway...
Where is the key way in the repaired part.
Hard to get cam timed correctly with out key way reference.
Tim
Good demonstration of how it can be done, but I would not have used that camshaft - it was too far gone to begin with. And with welding splatter on the lobes afterwards it is trash, in my opinion.
Im pretty sure camshaft journals are case hardened and ground. The grinding disc at the end was pure theatre....lol.....🤔😳😀😀🇬🇧
Ooooh, my stomach churned when I saw that right angle grinder being used on what is supposed to be a precision ground bearing surface. Measuring it for final dimension with a caliper also made me queasy. Apparently abrasive tape in many grades & micrometers are not readily available there. I felt truly sorry for that first cam lobe that had weld marks all over. I admire the engineering, but if I was handed a cam like that to install, well, sorry, not happening.
As long as the cam was straight, then machine the bearing surface down & fit a very tight [shrink on] sleeve. Alternately, weld up the bearing surface & machine back to standard. The damaged thread could be done the same way. Much quicker, easier & every bit as good..
My only comment is that I like his chip hook. I would like to see the truck in use after these repairs they do are reinstalled.
Vary good ust
Интересно в этой стране знают про существование индикаторов и микрометров?
Зачем есть болгарка этого достаточно.
Ребята просто собирают просмотры, зачем оно им)
Good work 👍
i am wonderig if a more" KNOWLEDGEABLE MECHANIC " would simply use hardfacing rods to build up the damaged sections then regrind the bearing faces?
That would seem like the obvious choice.
Amigo.....
Eres el primer tornero que pinta su MAQUINA DE TORNO ( y de color rojo !! ) se ve y luce muy bien !!! 👍 👉👉👍 ! .
Ficou ótimo , só ficou faltando a fenda da chaveta.
I am concerned the first lobe has been covered in weld splatter.
Parting speed too fast and incorrectly used.
good skills 👌👌👍
Except for the fact that the steel sleeve he made was probably a mild steel and should have been heat treated and hardened to become a bearing surface and his Final Cut looked like shit even after he ground it to god knows what with the grinder(probably no longer true either) otherwise a smart repair. It’ll probably still work even with my criticism though it won’t last long since it was not hardened.
God work
11.62 he is countersinking with the tool profile not using the cross-slide at 45degrees. Complete amateur
He's made the job glow cherry red at 900C as he's got the job speed to fast .
Even the large drill is too fadt snd no lubricant. Maybe a mechanic but not a properly trained lathe operator.
Don't you use cutting oil?
Bagaimana cara mengelas pahatnya
Super jest to odrestaurowane pozdrawiam serdecznie, 👍👍👍👍👍👍

At least he is doing it, not banging on the keyboard criticizing.
My grandpa use to say, those who can't criticize.
Yes he's doing a shit job.
No good welding!!!
