Hey everyone! I think the most asked question we have ever received is why we don't stack our bales. This is a great question, especially in a year like this when we have so many and are running out of places to put them. Here is why we don't think it is the best option for us. 1. Rain runs down the top bales and gets in between the stacked bales. 2. Sun and wind cannot get at this moisture because the water can seep and sink in a long ways but the wind cannot penetrate the bale very well. 3. Mold starts to grow because of the increase in moisture and the bales get bad. When we lay out single rows so the sun can get all the way to the ground in between the rows and wind can blow down them too. I do believe the best way to keep bales is to build a shed and stack that baby full! But currently we would like to save the money and spend it on other things! Thank you for the questions! People around the world do many different things and there are pros and cons to each. We think for us in our climate this is the best way, we may be wrong. Thanks for watching!
Good explanation and thank you. I wouldn't say you were wrong, if that is what works for you then ride with it. . . . . I actually missed this the first time I watched the video but some busy body, mr know it all decided to make it his business to point me in the right direction.👍
Love to hear you say "That ain't good".. my husband was a farmer when he was young until his father had a heart attack, watching your videos makes him remember the good old days.
How blessed you guys are, but I'm sure you're aware of that. A beautiful state, hard but satisfying work, fresh air and an intelligent, hot woman for a governor. Gotta love it.
That was one sweet drawing from Nate. And you are one sweet guy for showing it. Make sure you frame it and hang it up. I like that your brothers are protective about your Dad. Good sons!!!!! We got to keep Brian in good health so he can dance at your wedding.
As a former farmer, who loves to watch a number of youtube channels, i love yours. The fact that you still have stock, to feed, to doctor, to care for, the fact that you do not shill too much for endorsement of products, it all makes for enjoyable watching from this old guy. I grew up, and farmed with old two cylinder John Deeres, and the later new generation Deeres. I love Ellie, she seems like a sweet dog, the type that many of us have, they never came into our house, but, we made a great place for them, and, they rewarded us with their loyalty. How about a little more about Ellie, she deserves it.
Being a horse and donkey I gotta laugh!! I'm addicted to these damn farming videos, such enteraining, the best way to cleanse the mind of all the crap going on! Makes me wanna pack up and build a house next door to you guys, wake up everyday in AMERICA! BRIAN... pure ENTERTAINMENT!
I'm new to your channel and and from Minneapolis. I have been watching all of your episodes. I'm only a farm girl from going down to my Uncle Fred's farm in Faribault. That was years ago. He had a Homestead farm with dairy cows. I enjoy everything you do and Brian, your stories. Cole, don't pick on yourself too much. You're smart and you know how to weld! I wish I did.
So glad that things are coming together for you both. You are my last video of the night...(3 am here). You both make me laugh out loud and smile which I thank you for. Stay safe and keep those videos coming along.
Brian and Cole the bond you two have is awesome truly. Something I really never had with my father. I hardly ever mention that old tractor for give away but yesterday I was watching a video when you two put the 3 point on was funny you two. What needs to be done with that old girl. Paint her up and run her in the parade for kids and disabled vets and farming events stated given by Sonne farms. Thanks guys for the good videos and the hummer.
Great video as always! I love your sense of humor and your genuineness and the chemistry between you and your dad. I know you guys work hard which makes your sense of humor and good spirits that much more enjoyable and appreciated. Confidence, without arrogance, can't be something done on purpose on a continuing basis. Love that! And, one more thing, love how you teat your dog . Can't fool them and it's obvious Ellie really loves you. I've always told my kids to beware of anyone your dogs don't like - - and I meant that. Keep'em up - and thanks so much!
Hi Cole hope you and your family are doing good today.God bless you and your family today and always.Have a blessed day and blessed church service at church tonight.Thank you for sharing.God bless you all.
Cole would love one day for you to go over your cattle operation. Number of cows calves and how many feeders you finish out. Keep it up love the new flag.
I didn't know elly could move that fast😂 it was cruel and hilarious at the same time. That's a nice crop of hay, keep up the great videos and stay safe out there
People who have never lived on a gravel road have no idea what a beautiful sight it is to see the grader working on your road. Especially if you live on a hill/mountain and the washboards are super bad.
Hey guys . Found your channel last week . Binged watched most of them .. ive laughed. I've cried . I've winced and said oh noooo . Thanks for sharing your crazy life . Hope the weather is better than the UK. Brrrrr its cold here right now 😩 lol
Another great video guys, its awesome the way you two get along and work together. You need to get the 4010 out and make a video, we have a 4020 that we like to get out let her work a little, those old tractors are fun. Have a good day and stay safe
Hay everyone! Good to see more Ellie in another cool episode. I am a retired US Navy Commander, never been part of the farming community but find your Sonne Farms channel very entertaining. I do have some questions about farm dogs that you may be able to answer in future episodes: Have you always kept dogs on your farm? What is your view of dogs on farms - are they pets, farm hands or a combination of both? Does Ellie ever come in the house - especially in the winter? What kind of dog is Ellie? Where did you get her? How did you choose her? Did you train Ellie to move cattle or is it her instincts? Sorry about all the dog questions but I can't ask questions about farming because I don't know much about farming except how to eat the food you produce.
Cole: I apologize let me Love you. Dad: Why did you do that people are gonna hate you. Lol 😂 Cole you might be on to a great slogan for guys!!!! 😂😂😂🙋♀️💗. Oh we know how much you love Ellie
I would like the 4010 tractor l used to have a 4020 and a 4320 both good tractors any free tractor is good great videos keep up the good job. I sure am glad Dad didn't fall ha ha.
great video cole love it thats alot of dirt and dust that the one tracter is collecting lol brain giveing him self a shout out that seems like alot more bales that what u usally have but at lease u guys are well stocked up for this winter
You have to get Ellie used to the noise before you surprise her with the air. Our dogs were used to our air compressor so when they realized how good it felt to be squirted they loved it. It was a good way to get all the loose hair off of their back.
Really like the product reviews. Would really like up close video with animals interacting with oiler and creep feeder. Any chance you can /place camera on them to show the cows/caves oiling/feeding? Would be fun to see them exploring the oiler and feeder. Cows and calves can be very inquisitive and fun to watch as they learn.
Hay another video i nearly missed this one , storm Francis caused floods and no power here, it might be a bit hot for the dog out side so in the shade would be cooler , and i looked at that site ariat nice boots on it, and your lucky pigs don't fly , anyway cheer's and thanks for sharing, The Brian Show , sounds good ,
🧐🧐IDEA🧐🧐... Why not put, let's say, 10" of crushed rock in the areas where your keeping your bales🤔?. They'd then be off the ground and would drain of water if they got a big rain. OR...Go to all the farm sales, and buy EVERY bale trailer that you can find. New and old. There must be loads of old trailers that aren't used any more. Load one up, park it, and leave it till next year, and store the bales on them.🤔. You wouldn't have to waste time unloading them again and again. Just a little air in the tyres each year before you leave the yard and bobs your aunties brother. Come to me for ALL the big ideas. I've got one for everything 😜. Rich UK 😘
Your Dad probably remembers back in the day when they still made square bales and loading those by hand in the hot sun. Back in the early 60's we were paid $1.00/1.50 an hour to 'haul' bales. A good way to get in shape for football season.

Thanks for explaining! I was about to comment asking why u don't stack but now I know
Why not stack them up and put a plastic sheet over the top of it?
We always stacked our bales
Good explanation and thank you. I wouldn't say you were wrong, if that is what works for you then ride with it. . . . . I actually missed this the first time I watched the video but some busy body, mr know it all decided to make it his business to point me in the right direction.👍
@@thefarmer2.060 It depends alot on how much rain you get and how long they might sit there before use.
Awwwwwwww,.....what a nice Father!!! He bought Cole a treat, because Cole was such a "Good Boy"!!! "Such a Good Boy"!!!

@@SonneFarms welcome ... is there a slim chance of a video on the bulls . Names size age etc??? I think that might be interesting to folks 🤔
Check the controls on that tractor, Cole...you can probably reverse the fan for 10 seconds every hour to keep the screens clean.
Another great video guys, its awesome the way you two get along and work together. You need to get the 4010 out and make a video, we have a 4020 that we like to get out let her work a little, those old tractors are fun. Have a good day and stay safe
I really thought you were calling to your dad when you said, "Hay!" lol
haha
Awesome Video and Much Love as Always 🌞 Farms!!!
I laughed way too hard at the “hay!” pun
There are 4010’S lurking in machine sheds all over North America. Great little auger tractor. Second only to the 8N Ford.
I think there are more 4020’s on augers than other tractors
Is it me or does Cole look like a young Clint Eastwood?
That Busch light flag should fly on the combine during harvest this year.
Hayyy excellent video 👌 great shoutout to Brian lol 🤙😎Aloha from Hawaii
"Let me LOVe you" 🤣🤣🤣🐶
Here's a shout for ye guys... great video as always... keep it up and that little beauty off a jd in the corner is nice

A very nice farming video with heavy farm machinery 👍👍
Just tell your story, be yourself. What your doing, how and or why your doing it and what result it may have. Your doing good.

When I first saw that tractor, I thought you had on a winter front. Guess I was wrong.
Wow that 4010 is beautiful🤩🚜
It has pretty straight tin work. Needs a little mechanical work when I have time. Lol.

Cole and Brian, do you guys ever see yourself adding another bunker for hay? Or maybe returning to the indoor bunker for corn to keep it dry?
