    it was good to hear laughter in this video. You seemed a lot more comfortable doing what you did in this one.

      We laugh all the time, or fuss. But usually there Re too many bad jokes to include so a lot of it gets edited out.

    Great to see the two of you outside and taking a break from the inside tasks. Breathe of air doing a different project never hurt anyone. Then there is that fantastic view. Stay safe

    Love your channel and love that you keep it so real. It is the real deal in building and taking care of property and equipment.
    You are really getting things buttoned up on the outside for winter and I can imagine you will notice the change of temps in the home while working and it will feel warmer and more secure with the woodstove going when you might have the opportunity to use it during winter building. I am so impressed, with each of you holding down a full time job and building and family and and and alllllllll the rest of life. Kudos to you and thank you for taking on this adventure with you. You are teaching as well as building your new home. Blessings

      First time building something is a great and frustrating experience. Take your time. When you finish you will be amazed at how much you have learned and how much more you know you can tackle. Congratulations.

    I am glad you said why you cut the last but one board near the corner. but why did you cut the length of the boards down instead of using the whole length

    • @breakheartorchard4761
      @breakheartorchard4761  2 роки тому +1

      We cut the end off the length to make it the same height as the siding on the front and back. So that there wouldn’t be an odd height issue visually.

    Good old James Hardie building products...they had a big class action case against them for their asbestos products to this day I think they’re still paying out victims who used and got sick through their product...just thought I’d put that out there...horrible stuff that asbestos not saying that you guys are using asbestos siding or roofing or insulation for that matter...looking good guys keep up the hard work...never seen that siding before can you let us know what it is please guys...it looks like a very durable good product that’s quite easy to install...finishing the house jobs are always the longest and time consuming that has to be done with finesse and skill because it’s the outer skin of the house where imperfections show...

    Would it not be better to get the whole of the outside completely finished as winter is approaching , then go in side and do plumbing and electrical etc.

      A lot of what gets recorded, has to be edited for brevity. Sometimes the angle or light is not right on a lot of it so I have to pick and choose what to include.

    Love the shears, because I have bad allergies. How long does the Shears last? Is that paint you're rolling on the cut edges? If so, what's the reason? I recently built a workshop with standard 8" hardie and now I'm wondering if i missed a step. I am also renovating a small house and it is my plan to use the vertical look on the front.

    • @breakheartorchard4761
      @breakheartorchard4761  2 роки тому

      Battery charge on the shears lasts several hours of near continuous use. She is still using them all the time to thin landscaping and trees around the house. Still on first set of blades.
      We were just using pain on the cut edges per instructions. If you were using lap siding then only place you would need it is when you cut it and if you caulked and painted, I doubt it is anything to worry about.

    Aren't you supposed to use vertial strapping for the siding to create an air gap, rather than attaching siding directly to sheathing?

    • @breakheartorchard4761
      @breakheartorchard4761  Рік тому

      Yes. Or drain wrap. I used neither. Had so many button nails holding the housewrap it lifted it a bit and I Didnt want the extra space of straps for a bug motel.

    • @xguaman
      @xguaman Рік тому

      I agree with you! This panel need to be installed with vertical strapping. It’s not air gap .

    I am bidding on a project and this is the material they want. The issue I'm having is that it's a 2-1/2 story home. I don't think I can do this with my ladders,ladder jacks,and wallboards. Would you agree that I need to include lift rental in my quote? Thank you.

    • @breakheartorchard4761
      @breakheartorchard4761  Рік тому

      Lift or scaffolding. It is heavy and clumsy and will break if flexed too much. Good luck.

    You would of blocked me for the first thought that came to mind. Its really hard when you are physically in one place and your mind on another as you are basically trying to do two jobs at once. In other words thinking about something that you feel will be difficult and then job in hand takes a dive. Just for example, you both have names I have heard a quite a few times yet try to direct a comment to one of you sounds like arkansas date nite, I just can't pull it up or out. I will think of it later. From what I have seen so far, I do not like this board that your putting up. I can agree that OSB is just junk for a outside wall and it comes in waterproof applications I am fairly sure. I used it and did it with staples and before I could come back with my vinyl siding, the staples rusted off and were a mess. So good luck without input from me/LOL
