Avoiding the seconds hands in the quartz movement of a dress watch is a always a correct decision in my opinion. Keeps the elegance and makes it a grab-and-go, but without the often annoying tic-tac. More brands should do that.

If its not your daily you need something to let you know its running without staring at it for a minute or two.

Not a huge concern with the majority of quartz watches.

Those prices are laughable. I bet they don't sell very many...absolutely outrageous. Here's a hint, guys....if you're a startup brand, you might want to price your watches accordingly, so you actually SELL a few. I don't know of anyone who's going to shell out $1k for a quartz "no name" watch, much less $2k for the automatic. Ridiculous.

Well, never assume my friend, because they're not just starting up!
I believe they're around since 2008! I've been to their showroom in Paris, and they have another one in London, and ADs in other places in the world.
To be fair with you, first time I got their catalog ( a fancy piece I wish we would see more in other brands ), I thought wtf are those prices. But when I saw them in the flesh, honestly, emotionnal pieces is what came to my mind. You feel like you have something miles away from the generic microbrands, and that's definitely what brings them customers lol. Though I prefer other models than those shown here.
Because, French made bands are expensive, assembled in France is as well, we're used to full China production. But to me they nailed the irrationnal part of a watch purchase, that's how they justify the price. Still too pricey for me even though I've seen some pretty good deals on them but I would genuinely consider one if it was disposable money for me. And I rarely ever defend ridiculous prices like that.

@@H0kram I think this is the first time I read an analysis that interesting under a (very good) ytb video.
I konw march la.b since a long time and indeed they have a super high end distribution network in france and arent at all a no name in France !
More than only the movement, when you have some march lab in hands this is emotional for all this reason, the design, the finishing, all the hidden details.

13k for gold plated steel is ridiculous

OMG. This is the most overpriced watch I have ever seen. Case and glass from China for far below 100€, Ronda movement below 20€. And put together in France. Instead of Tim, Ben should review this, it's on par with Spagetti Scameti. They cut the middleman.

To me, the gold watch has a 1970s Piaget Polo vibe. Really like it, BUT mineral glass at almost $1,000? That's a pass.

I really like these in gold, but with only 5 microns of plating it is too disposable for the price. Would it really have cost so much more to do 20-40 micron?

A beautiful design but the price is a pill hard to swallow, of course I'm sure the gold plating and quality may justify the price. But I've seen Armitron and Casio watches with the same case design but Analogue-digital just barely in $100 the most expensive, so I think the watch needs a little more to offer. Anyway, a matter of taste... and budget.
    Thank you for the video.
PS. By the way, I was looking for an affordable option to the Hamilton Boulton, and found and bought a square vintage/tank style quartz watch from the brand Peugeot, and I'm gladly surprised, maybe you would like to take a peek at them.

Ha!… I was watching this stand up comedy by Keiron (a french comedian) 2 days ago. he always interacts with the public and tries to make the situation awkward. He started talking to a guy who said he worked for a watch company… march lab! I had never heard of them and looked at their site like (very overpriced!) anyways the guy had to say that he was an employee for 10 ears; that he had been the boyfriend of the founder’s daughter who also worked there (both were sitting next to him) and that she had just dumped him and that he was quitting lol… then the father and founder said he was disapointed to part ways like that. What are the odds to see you post a march lab video 2 days later??

I love my father's old watch from the 60s. The dial is much easier to read than any of mine with a sapphire crystal, as there is less glare.

I have this watch on leather, I do like the shape and quality. Mine doesn’t have sapphire crystal and the gold plating isn’t very rich in my opinion. In bright light the gold tone looks like polished steel and in bright light doesn’t transmit the green dial well. I actually have mine on sale because of this. It hurts because I really love the design just can’t get over those two details that could’ve made it even better

I think someone in their pricing team has been on the Christmas sherry a bit early lol… it’s not if nice sorry Tim, looks like something I was offered on a Mexican beach for 10 dollar

I think that quartz movement may have a 10 year battery life. I recently bought a 34mm round souvenir watch from the 2002 Swiss expo. Resembles a Cartier pebble. Sapphire glass. Sorry to mention it was 75usd. I forgot to also mention same movement, Ronda 762, 4 jewel.

I understand why you fell for one of these designs. In screen, for me, there is just always something not quite there about March LAB pieces. Their approach falls well within my interests, but I'm never quite convinced. Taking into account the fact they undeniably cost far too much among peer brands and this is actually a major missed opportunity. No-one is likely to take a punt at these prices, so I find the brand's strategy somewhat baffling. For me I like the pieces with somewhat more detailed dials and creative markers more and wish there was more going on in these two pieces, especially on the dial. And while the neon green 3 only comes by once a month, and I like green, I think Akrone shows how to choose green shades better than these March LABs. Green is very very finicky. But I love the creativity of it and wish that part of the venture well. Who knows what else they might come up with.

„Casino“ with Robert De Niro immediately came to my wind at the first glance of the golden watch. Quite fun, but one grand for a bit of fun? There should be plenty of vintage pieces from the era at a fraction of the price.

Just looked the real thing up: De Niro wears a Bueche Girod in white, yellow and rose gold with diamonds and a Piaget Polo Day Date in 18-carat yellow gold. Those were the times…

The mineral glass is a showstopper. It won't be long before it's scratched and needing changed, good luck with that with that shape.

The smaller watch is very nice, but mineral glass would prevent me purchasing.

I think 1k€ is quite reasonable for that watch... if it was solid gold or atleast goldfilled. I hope that we will se more and more microbrandwatches with the G100 movement as well, but is it really so much more expensive to use then lets say an ETA2824? It is pretty much a swiss version of the Miyota9015.

    • @waterfordrs22
      @waterfordrs22 10 місяців тому

If it was solid gold, it would be more expensive, by many magnitudes.
As for gold filled, you can probably find a vintage watch for that kind of money.
