Restoring TRASHED PS4's - From Boxes of Parts to Working Consoles

- Restoring TRASHED PS4's - From Boxes of Parts to Working Consoles - I bought 2 boxes of PS4 parts on eBay for $122. After separating out the parts and doing some testing I work on repairing what I can. I'm able to clean corrosion off the motherboard, replace some parts such as a midframe and disc drive, straighten a top plate, solder on a new power button ribbon cable connector, replace a harddrive, solder on an HDMI port (including repairing some of the traces), and replace some covers. It took a while but I ended up with 1 working PS4 Original and 1 working PS4 Slim!

About This Video: I bought two boxes containing the parts from three PS4s. After sorting through everything and doing some testing I was able to get to work restoring the consoles. Using parts from all the consoles (plus some additional parts I had already) I was able to get two of the consoles working again!
Would you like to see me do more restorations on this channel? If so what would you like to see me restore? Thanks for watching!
i know this is a bit old but since you are a console expert could you try restore a ps3
Would really like to see some Dualshock 4 controllers
Where do you get the broken consoles from?
DiamondTiger99 ebay he says it in the video
probably not as profitable for you, but definitely more entertaining for me!
I'm not sure why but I've started watching this dude fixing consoles every day before I go to sleep. Not sure why but these videos are relaxing in some way
Yeah me too same :)
Omg that’s what I’m doing right now!
I feel attacked because that’s what I’m doing rn hahah
Same here
Likewise, these videos are super chill and very satisfying to watch.
Craigslist: "very well taken care of barley used"
No issues plays games great light scratches
Last owner took great care of console, no problems, acts like it just came out of the box
Love it when you see an ad that says "lightly used". Right!! 🤣
Perfect condition ps4 almost new!!
"Like new, been tested, guarantees to work."
I love that you saved these from ending up in a landfill.
yesterday: Repair brooken consoles
today: Repair consoles in parts
tomorrow: build a consoles with my own manufactured parts
That would be awesome! I'm looking into doing some types of build videos!
the day after tomorrow : tronicfix guy repairs the coronavirus back to it's none existent state
Yes build a monolith where you have all 3 consoles in one case. It would be interesting to see how you make it work.
@@KennethDodds42 yee like a switch PS4 and Xbox in one shell
@@ImmortalJeremy And add a pstv or Wii for emulating old systems :)
When they said "broken", I wasn't expecting, "might as well just be a pile of ashes"
Ha, ha!
TronicsFix must be from a guy who had a crazy ex girlfriend.
This is quite the ASMR episode, Steve. Thank you so much especially with the lockdown and quarantine that's going on around the world. Certainly, worth watching to pass the time. Appreciate it.
Been following your vids for quite a while, Just wanted to drop thank you. It is because of you i was able to replace an entire cable plug charger (with soldering to an old not the same brand mother board). You gave me the courage and knowledge to fix it. And its not even a ps4 fix :) - all worked great bought the cable for a 1.5 usd and tested all using a multimeter pre plugging. All good. Thanks again.
He is really proud of his thermal paste
hahaha!
@@Tronicsfix what's ur thermal paste ? Gd900 china edition ?
AS5
@@Antonka86 if you are searching for better thermal paste, then Arctic Silver 5 isn't one. from their website:
_Due to the unique shape and sizes of the particles in Arctic Silver 5's conductive matrix, it will take a up to 200 hours and several thermal cycles to achieve maximum particle to particle thermal conduction and for the heatsink to CPU interface to reach maximum conductivity. (This period will be longer in a system without a fan on the heatsink or with a low speed fan on the heatsink.)_
@Rebecca Huggins - with that comment it tells me you are fairly new to the channel. His comment is aimed at the haters/trolls that come out and state that it's "not enough" or "too much" and really IT IS THE PERFECT AMOUNT! Now you know... BTW, he didn't say it on the second one, FAIL! LOL
damn those things looked like they went into a tornado!
Ha, ha...yep!

who sells parts that seems like were destroyed by a hammer? o.O
nah its probably the guy who destroyed his ps4 cuz he was angry at horizon coming to pc sold them
@@menosgrande1112 Those parents that destroy their children's consoles in front of them with a hammer when they've misbehaved.
I’ve learned so much from watching all of ur vids that I went out and bought myself a “broken” Xbox one x off eBay for $145, watched a couple of ur videos and now I’ve got my very own Xbox one x for the amazing price of $170, my second Xbox since the 360 (I’m more of a PlayStation kinda guy) but can’t wait to play gta in 4K 😆😆😆
Wat was broken
You are amazing, i also want to get myself a ps4 in this way.
This type of restoration was really cool to watch, would like to see more like this and definitely would enjoy seeing you repair those controllers. Always love all your repairs, keep up the great work!😁
Ok that PS4 Slim had a rough life with literally everything being smashed up AND water damage...
... but of course TronicsFix made it run like nothing
Ha.. Simples 😂
pff water damage and hammered, no problem!
Looks like someone took a hammer to it, then threw it in a lake, boxed it up, and sent it to tonicsfix.
Seller: "Let's see him fix this one! 🤣"
Tronicsfix: "Here, hold my beer and watch this."
mazda9624 his owner was a simply angry kid 😂😂😂
I’m hooked on your vids! Just wish you uploaded more 😂
So glad you're enjoying them! I wish I could upload more too! I'm pretty maxed out right now but maybe in the future I can do more.
TronicsFix No worries dude, I fully understand how manic life can be. I’ll accept quality over quantity any day 👍🏻
@@Tronicsfix Could you maybe make a video some time about your day to day work? For example the amount of repairs you face in a week, what kinds etc.

Always like to see restorations, dont have the skill to do that stuff myself so is interesting to watch. Keep em coming!
Big fan of these videos! Love taking a box full of random crap and turning it into working machines. You are a literal wizard.
I would love to see some controller restorations. Either way, love the channel and everything you do to keep tech living. Keep it up!
Thanks for the comment!

Ohhh yeah Id like that so I can try the simple fixes
I could watch this guy fix things for days, he really has it down to a science and the videos are very informative. Keep moving forward Bro!
Watching all of your videos has helped me a lot with keeping my system running as it should. I can't thank you enough for all the awesome work you do for your community of followers. Saving them a world of headache trying to DIY it and not knowing where stuff goes.
You're the best, peace! ✌
would really like to see some more "solid numbers" in the videos. i remember on past videos you would show us the amount spent, how much the new pieces would cost, and an estimated selling prive for whats been restored
i say this as it beings a sortov "conclusion" to the video and personally a level of satisfaction after watching your work, seeing how the work is worth the effort
Yo real talk! I was crossing my fingers when you were jumping the cables on the hdmi, I enjoy seeing you victories good sir!
love the channel, honest and straight forward, keep it up.
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying these.
You never cease to amaze me when you turn a pile of parts into a working unit.
Another very thorough video. I have a few broken ps4 consoles myself. Watching this gives me the motivation to get it done.
i like all of the restoration projects you do! everyone learns so much from watching you do everything you do man!!! keep up the great work!!

True
5 minute crafts be like: how to play PS4 game on switch: we docked up this switch, but there's actually a PS4 behind the tv
I loved all the care and love you put into that poor PS4s, thank you, they needed it.
Love seeing these repair vids: Taking something that was broken and making it 'live' again.
It's just humbling to see and all the delicate effort it takes to make it happen and playable.
Great video Steve :-)
Thanks so much!

Nice to see you work for it, nowdays everybode thinks just flipping and makin money. You are showing that it is worth saving stuff and that it can be hard to make money of it. Love your detailed video at the other end of the ocean.
It can be super tough to make money at it...but still possible if you're skilled enough.
Been watching your videos for months now! It's great to see the passion and fun you have while repairing everything.
Greetings from Peru! Love your videos!
Really love to see consoles getting restored and functional once more! Thank you for doing these type of videos! :D
That looked like the *PERFECT* amount of thermal paste you used!
Your videos are kind of an addiction, I keep watching them one after one 😂❤️
These kind of vids are awesome. Amazing to watch you salvage working consoles from these junked listings
I love how he had some doubts then felt satisfied in this part 11:25 😆
Keep up good work...
You make it look so easy and intriguing at the same time. I’d like to see you restore older consoles like PS3, PS2, and Sega Saturns for example. 🔥👍
I will do some older stuff at some point.
TronicsFix it’d be nice to see someone as knowledgeable as you show how to repair a PS2 30001 not reading discs right.
TronicsFix Awesomeness!
Controllers??? Yes please these start getting harder and harder so would be helpful

Love videos like these. Would like seeing you restore more ps4. And yes, the joysticks bunch are a good restore video as well. Thx man for these great videos. You are very professional.
“I really like this type of video and would like to see more.” 😜
I wan't to see how controllers can be repaired, at work we change 3-4 sets per year because of the analog buttons are getting bad . Thanks
I'll do controllers sometime!
Lol I've had my controller since 2014 and it only broke this year.😟😟
The charging port or the ps button is the thing that breaks for me the most! Would interesting to see a video on it :)
Yes do controllers
@@jaxg1427 hey man, you can get replacement ports on AliExpress for not a lot of money, replacing them is super easy, if I remember correctly, it's a single screw and a ribbon connector, no soldering required.
Very well done on that repair of the HDMI port mate! Major props! Keep up the good work mate!
That's awesome you got those two PS4's fully functional, seeing those controllers restored would be cool, I say go for it. Always enjoy your gaming console repair videos, keep up the great work.
Definitely would like to see more of this!
Thanks for the comment!
That's it! I'm putting 58 Switch, PS4, and Atari systems in my dryer to mix for a few hours. Then I'll send you the parts in a used Amazon box and watch you get excited about reassembling them with thermal paste! Awesome Video.
Some things I look at and just say "nope"! That would be one of those! Ha, ha!

Yes, definitely do a video of a controller repair

Personally, I'd Love to see PS4 Controller repairs, I've personally repaired a few Dualshock 3, PS3 Controllers, As my family has quite a few PS3's, And that means we've slowly [Or Quickly in some cases lol] gone through a few controllers.
PS4 controllers are built well, I've recently disassembled my old dead one from launch, but they definitely are repairable
Would love to see a video on restoring a ps3 controller! I have some but the sticks are all loosey goosey on them. Thanks!
Glad you got 2 of them working! Would love to see more, controllers included!

You’re kind of saving the earth too, these will no longer go to a land fill right now
He be lowkey getting platinum trophy’s by fixing em
These fixes are on point, this is definitely the guy I would buy a refurbished PS4 from.
This type of people (who fix stuff instead of selling them for cheap or throwing them away) always make my day by making the sellers look silly when they make profit from thier work
I will love to see a collaboration between you and JerryRigEverything...that will be actual fun 😎
Jesus I get anxious when I had my ps4 apart, not knowing where you'd even start with all these parts is killing me
Brilliant work. Especially ur soldering skills on the PS4 fat. Keep making these videos.
You make it look so easy i am always impressed. Also nice to see the setup you use to show and rebuild the circuit traces at 11:13 :P
İ like this episode too 😂
Thanks for the comment! And thanks for watching!
Very fun to watch video. I love learning about this stuff. I know how to use the software in products. When it comes to taking them apart and fixing them I fall flat lol 😂
i would love to see these kind of restorations go to a lot and buy parts and create ones yourself

Great job in fixing two trashed PS4's into two working ones. I have come from the lovely MyMateVince channel to watch your amazing work. I am glad he suggested to subscribe to your channel. I am impressed with your work so far in what videos I have watched.
Good repairs. And patience putting them together to test and taking apart again to fix. 👍
when a man pulls out a microscope to work on a PlayStation hardware, you know he's serious.

They're very durable if done correctly.
dammit men, you are just overpowering my hoarding instincts, now i go around saying "this have value, i could fix this" lying to myself bahahahahahahahaha
Love your videos man, can´t stop watching them. Keep it up!!
Loving the restoration vids - it's so interesting to see you do what I know I could never do myself! It would be great to see the controllers done as well. I've already replaced a thumbstick on a Switch joycon thanks to your video on the subject so thanks for that.
What in the living hell did they do to these consoles?!🤔

I am on a quest to watch all of your videos! Been subscribed for a while now. I forget how I stumbled upon your channel but it has been a gift from the repair gods. It’s so satisfying and calming watching you work. The background music and stuff too! However I’m always a little heart broken for you when something can’t be fixed! You have motivated me to order the atomic purple clear case for my Switch! However I’m not quite confident enough to do what you did in that video so for now it’s just a simple case swap but still!
