  • We originally created this video as an entry to 1st Bank's contest for a small business grant, but now we have started a Community Funded Campaign to raise the funds to build out our new photo studio in Fort Collins. As part of that, we wanted to share this video for Artists of all sorts to also share!
Please visit our funding page here: campaigns.communityfunded.com...
The art/photo/design culture and community is an important element that is often overlooked in favor of "business". The sad thing is that not all artistic endeavors will ever have financial gain as a motivation, yet all art takes some sort of resources to produce.
As part of our effort to build
    Words:
I only have 90 seconds and no time to waste
This approach may be a little in your face, but go with me
I want you to think of a song, a movie, or a photo that has impacted your life
And as you think about it I'm sure your eyes got a little bright
I'm sure you cracked a smile so slight
    As you think back
To how that piece of art made you react
Did it help you through a tough time
Did it inspire you to be great
Did it mend a broken heart
    Did it help you relate,
To the feeling the artist was trying to relay
    Just think about it
A wedding with no photos, no memories to relive
No movie for a mother to enjoy with her kids
No music to get you through a long day or a road trip
See, a world without art is a world we don't want to live
Whether you know it or not
You've been affected by stories and plots
By rhythms and rhymes you've reminisced on good times
    With photos that've captured memories,
these arts have become a heartbeat
A heartbeat to our culture we all know we need
A heartbeat that if it were to stop would leave the world incomplete
At PHOCO we create that beat, we create that scene
    We create those photographic memories
We create the next generation of art things
that will make the mundane seem so sweet
As I bring this to a close
Think about that piece of art and why it's your favorite
Now imagine that it doesn't exist
Because the artist didn't have the money to make it.

As a poet myself, art is something I do on the side. Would love to do it FT, but that usually means living in poverty. Support the arts folks, because we all know you enjoy the arts.

This is so powerful! :-) I just posted my own spoken-word poem called "I Am Art!" and yours popped up in the 'related videos.' I'm glad it did! We're thinking right along the same lines, my friend! Always inspired to meet a fellow artist.

Thank you! I'll have to look up your video. We use Vimeo for almost all of our stuff now, but I appreciate the response!

@Kaylee Russell His name is Chaz Miles, we wrote it for a submission to business pitch competition for our photo/video business, but it still lives on. Thanks for the comment. You can check out his channel: ua-cam.com/users/ChazMilesMusic
