He was either 19 or 20 when he did this song and it displays his virtuosity and maturity as a composer, arranger, musician and producer, he was ahead of his time a true musical genius. I will always be in awe at his abilities as a composer, producer, arranger, guitarist, songwriter and performer. He was SPECIAL!!!!

He was a musical genius but he certainly wasn't sent here by God as a musical Angel because if he was he definitely wouldn't be singing Sexy Dancer or Erotic City or Head I want to be your lover or any of those very sexual songs come on please yes Prince was in a class all by his own at this time he was not walking with the Lord our Lord is merciful because in his later years in life Jesus Christ became his Lord and Saviour that's why he wouldn't sing Erotic City or any of those other song and he changed the lyrics to many of greatest hits he's known for by the masses II would die for you the lyrics change from he's your Messiah he died for you cuz you're the reason why and we all know how the original version goes!!! So thank you Lord for your mercy and your grace or otherwise Prince would be in the burning flames of fire I don't know why everyone thinks they are getting a free pass if you don't confess the Lord as your Saviour now what makes you think when you die and you stand before Him he's going to say oh come on in he's going to say to you depart from me you iniquity for I do not know the!!! WOW you do not want to hear those words after you hear those words you will never see the Lord again you will be sent straight to hell for eternity so if you don't know him now you better Prince said that as well he said if you don't know him now and if you pass on it's too late thank you for the Cross thank you Yahweh!! If you seek him with all your heart you will find him!!

@@MJ-bi2do Nope before I spill the beans go listen to “forget me nots”! Same person playing that keyboard is playing the sexy dancer piano solo! And there are three different musicians on “Soft and wet”:
      Prince, Dr Fink, Patrice Rushen!
Dr Fink let it slip that he played on it even earlier as a demo. I hear Patrice Rushen on it too! My ears 👂 are GOLDEN!!
Here is something I just discovered right now by doing a simple google search type in Prince and Patrice Rushen:
“As it happens, the song 'I Wanna Be Your Lover' was reportedly inspired by Patrice Rushen, who WORKED on the first album, programming some of the synthesisers for the work. Prince was taken by her beauty, and although he attempted to court her, it didn't lead to anything of great substance.”

Was before Purple Rain blew up and I was jamming to Controversy and 1999. I had found this vinyl and didn't have any clue what album it originated from. I was mixing it with Egyptian Lover and Cameo. Had no clue he was about to explode! This cut was just straight funky low-fi groove. Long play was definitely my fave. Back in the day, many artists had extended version of songs and the DJ would play the 12 inch single records. You could also but the 12 version. This started going away in the 80's - Prince always kept doing it. Most artist stopped. And dance remixes were the club DJ just mixing it, playing in back forth "mixed with other parts of the song.Prince actually has great long versions of most of hiits. Buy Essential Prince! All these extended versions are there. "let's Work" is epic! This was on Vinyl back in the day 1978 is is out of prince.

The long version was only available (legally since this remix is considered a bootleg) on the UK 12" of Sexy Dancer (B side being Bambi) Bobby Z used that version to make this remix... It was never released for the US market (I wonder why since that bass solo is totally fantastic) and never reissued
