- Noah Rasheta, host of the Secular Buddhism podcast interviews New York Times bestselling author Robert Wright about his newest book “Why Buddhism is True: The Science and Philosophy of Meditation and Enlightenment”. Wright leads readers on a journey through psychology, philosophy, and a great many silent retreats to show how and why meditation can serve as the foundation for a spiritual life in a secular age.
Love it, not trying to go from point A to point B but going from point A to point, Just Be.
I really enjoyed this interview and immediately liked it and subscribed to the channel. I will also check out Bob's book. It sounds intriguing! Ever since I lost my believe in Christianity about 10 years ago and went down the Science and Philosophy path, I was still yearning for some kind of spirituality. I guess secular Buddhism could do the trick. Thanks a lot for that! :)
I heard a few impressive interviews led by Bob Wright and very happily discovered on the 8th of Aug. that this kind but skeptic guy was actually following a mindful path next to the wild one I am walking on
Fantastic book so far. He seems like a really decent guy.
8:20 : "the good news is it will get people's attention. The bad news is some will hate it..!" I like that!!!
David Watermeyer if people dislike this, imagine the hate Gautama had to endure, being as radical as he was, haha.
My earnest request to this channel creator keep this great video ,we will be always with you
great interview!
Thank you!
I would love to see you interview Culadasa. Have you read his book "The Illuminated Mind"?
Culadasa is certainly not "secular".
Wonder if there is a parallel reality where Robert Trugh wrote a book "Why Buddhusm is Right"
Yes,the book is awesome, our teaching will remain meaningless if we don't,t read the book
.
If Buddhist practice can help a person become a "better whatever you are", does it then follow that the practice is ethically empty?
Matt Gilbert just keep swimming
I would add that ethics and values are what defines the quality of who we are and what we do, so it isn't empty. in fact there are certainly ethical traditions in buddhism but the behaviors driven by the philosophy are what secular enthusiasts are probably drawn to. Hope this made sense?
why does robert wright look so unhappy?
In Modern Environment "Natural Selection" is not natural selction!
