Although I long ago figured this out, I truly appreciate this video. When I was a little kid - way before UA-cam - all the older guys at my school wore those oval buckles with the logo of their favorite rock group. A lot of the buckles had a neon design - like an early version of a hologram - and I wanted one of my own badly. I assumed that the buckles were permanently attached to the belts, until I noticed some guys with different buckles on the same belt. My neighbor had one, so one day when I saw him wearing it, I asked how it worked. He took it off, showed me how the snaps worked and let me try it on. It was way too long for me, so he even went in his garage and drilled an extra hole through the belt where it would fit me. That was a big deal for a little kid. I showed my parents. They promised one for my birthday. We drove out to a flea market where there was a vendor with all kinds of belts and buckles. He had those belt straps that could be cut to size. I got to pick out 2 belts that the vendor custom sized for me and 2 buckles (one set from my parents and one from my grandparents) so I could mix them up. They had enough slack that I wore them well into my teen years and when I outgrew them, I went and bought another pair from the same vendor. So thanks for the memories!
I’m embarrassed to say I’ve never worn a belt buckle before and didn’t know how to wear it. Got one today and thanks to your video I look damn fine. Thank you sir.
Another thing that people many need to know is that there are different sizes of buckle widths. If a person has a belt that tapers down at the ends or is not the regular belt width, they will need a buckle designed to fit the width size of the belt. Not all buckles will fit on all belts. Great informative video for people that a getting into wearing western wear/western boots.
Found some old buckles in my basement that my uncle used to own. a Liberty Bell one and a cowboy boot one now I just need a new belt to use them. Thank you for the demonstration.
I love those Winchester and also the Colt Revolvers belt buckles from the '70s. Seems like everybody was wearing those way back then when I was in junior high and high school. I've got the brass versions of those. Wish they were more popular again. Keep wearing them!
Had a beautiful brown leather belt that had the screw system. The original buckle broke and I tried to fix it with super glue. It unfortunately didn't work so I ended up binning the belt. Greatest mistake of my life! (so far....) Thanks to you I won't make that mistake again. Thank you so much!
Western belts are an addiction I am up to like 14 belts ranging from $35-$65 and I change every buckle ranging from $20-$110. So careful a $50 belt can become a $100 belt if you add a good buckle. But looks great when you match it to your boots. Of course I have been buying for over many years. Belts are like any other leather item you need to clean and condition them once in a while and always buy a size larger than your pant size.
I had a really nice gun belt with the stitched back I wanted to put a buckle on, I cut the stitching, used a hole punch and put three Chicago screws in it. I picked up the gun belt for a few bucks at a yard sale and is now one of my favorites.
Now this makes sense to me. My belt is one I made myself from real leather and it happens to be setup correctly for this. I had assumed that It just went over the belts original buckle.
Bro… I’ve been stretching the metal clip on the buckle, and looping it in and squeezing it back in place 😭😭😭 I had the snaps kind of belt and didn’t know…. Thanks for this.
I wish there was a way to attach my buckle to my new belts. I bought some Kore Essentials belts 😉. Anyways they’re ratchet style with no holes. I got tired of the holes not giving me the adjustments I needed.
I asked for a new belt with snaps or screws but my parents said to just use my belt which doesn’t have screws or snaps and to put it on normally and to just slide the belt buckle in before you tuck the end of the belt
When you change your belt around could you make the belt buckles thin make the belt and the belt buckle look clean and sharp have you seen the car rims when they spend could you do that to a belt buckle
I have a snap buckle and a problem with the wire loop, the link between the buckle and the belt. Firstly, the correct name for the wire loop, second where can purchase one.
Hey are chinese belts are okay or the american made leather better.? I recently got two belts for one Australian dollars each and they are chinese made and seem to be decent qaulity. thanks for help. really love the vids
When switching your belt around to wear it evenly, instead of mentioning the buckle will be upside down...just buckle it upside down...no more upside down.
I have a gorgeous sterling belt buckle with a horse motif, but none of the belts I have will hold it because the peg just pops right out. It's thin and has no curve to it, unlike the ones you show in this video. Is there a quick fix to this by any chance?
Love my belt buckles, I could easy end up with a large collection of them. Getting belts that take them isn't always easy in the UK. I do love the Noble Apothecary belts, they look like they would last a life time.
Nah you can put a belt buckle on most belts without cutting it up like that. Maybe I should make a tutorial video about it. I’ve put them on dress belts before.
Please do not be so judgmental towards people about things like this. It seems like common sense to us that know how it works but if a person has never encountered this type of thing in their life that person could easily have questions regarding it. What is easy for some of us may not be easy for others. For instance, just because you know how to attach a western buckle to a belt does not mean that you know how to attach a kilt buckle to a belt.
You maybe correct in a lot of cases; however, if a person hasn’t seen a buckle attached to a belt they may not be aware of how they work. If a person has always had a regular sewn on buckle, they may have no idea that a person needs a belt with snaps or screws on it. People who have never seen the back of a western buckle could not be expected to know exactly how they are held on a belt. People may assume that they have to be sewn on just like their other buckles.
Great video, didnt even realise screw rivet belts were a thing! Definitely upgrading my snap closure. That Nobleman's Apothecary belt looks stunning too definitely picking one up!

Good topic! Having a belt with a nice buckle can add to your look & wardrobe. Ive got a collection of belts & buckles myself.
I love those Winchester and also the Colt Revolvers belt buckles from the '70s. Seems like everybody was wearing those way back then when I was in junior high and high school. I've got the brass versions of those. Wish they were more popular again. Keep wearing them!
i was looking at my belt and gently tugged at the snaps but hey didnt come loose and i was afraid of breaking my belt but thank you!!

Depends on the belts AND buckles - some belts need to double back on itself after passing through the buckle.

Thanks for the sharing. I am planning to get vintage buckle soon, looks super fun as it is changeable as explained. 😊
Thanks for the knowledge from a dude in the city
Bro… I’ve been stretching the metal clip on the buckle, and looping it in and squeezing it back in place 😭😭😭 I had the snaps kind of belt and didn’t know…. Thanks for this.

I call those Chicago screws. Never heard of screw rivets but i know exactly what u mean.
Great video man keep it up
Would the part that side of belt with snaps be on left or right for males?
So do the snaps have to show when the belt is on?
When you change your belt around could you make the belt buckles thin make the belt and the belt buckle look clean and sharp have you seen the car rims when they spend could you do that to a belt buckle
Nice buckles! 👍
I have a snap buckle and a problem with the wire loop, the link between the buckle and the belt. Firstly, the correct name for the wire loop, second where can purchase one.
I can take the buckle off but I can't put it on again correct.
I wish there’s a tutorial on making belt buckles
I cant find any tutorials for the kind that screw on

Thanks for the video. Any other ultra runners here after earning their 100-mile buckle? 😅
When switching your belt around to wear it evenly, instead of mentioning the buckle will be upside down...just buckle it upside down...no more upside down.
some of my belts comes with a hoop. If I'm wearing it with a buckle, do I still need the loop?
I have a belt with screws and I love it.
Very informative! What would be the standard width for a snap on belt?
So what’s the secret to putting the screw back on the buckle
Im putting an antique belt buckle on a leather belt like in the video, but the nub doesn't stay in the hole very much. Should i drill the hole bigger?
all you'd have to do is to rip the seams, but you'd have to sew it back.
Does anyone recommend a certain belt? I don’t want to be stuck buying bad quality ones. Thank you
Awesome.. Anyone help me, How can I purchase the cowboy bucks belt ? (I am in South India)
Can you recommend a decently priced snap belt

Take it to a cobbler.
Hi have you tried square neck dobro guitar? For your song writing skills?
Nice buckles.. how much
You see them on ebay
Love my belt buckles, I could easy end up with a large collection of them. Getting belts that take them isn't always easy in the UK.
I do love the Noble Apothecary belts, they look like they would last a life time.
I get my belts from Boot Barn, those are usually made to have the buckle changed out
Nah you can put a belt buckle on most belts without cutting it up like that. Maybe I should make a tutorial video about it. I’ve put them on dress belts before.
If one needs a tutorial on changing a belt buckle, I have concerns about their ability to operate a firearm, a car…and a can opener.

And somehow you ended up watching a video on how to change a belt buckle…🤠
Unfortunately, some people can only find humor in sarcasm and negative humor.
I think people would figure it out on their own 20 secs in, but a great vid 😂
