  • WPVI-TV 6 Philadelphia - Captain Noah - Show Open - Spring 1994. Popular Philadelphia Kids show from 1969 to 1996
    In the 1950s through the 1970s, local TV kids shows were common across the country. From Wonderama, Bozo, Dusty's Treehouse, Lorenzo, Marlo & The Magic Movie Machine & Gene London'ss Cartoon Corners, these shows were popular with children. This recording features a show that was popular in Philly, and also ran in Allentown & Walks-Barre PA. Captain Noah & his Magical Ark. Captain Noah ran cartoons, told stories, had guests, did crafts, and sang song. He was a pastor when he had an idea for a kids show in the 1960s, featuring Noah's ark & all the animals. The started the show in 1968, and ran until 1994! This episode comes from one of his final shows on WPVI-TV 6 Philadelphia.

    Watched this every day before school. A lot of the set ended up at the Please Touch Museum.

    They were always told by channel 6s management that the show could continue as long as they wanted to be on.

    Ellis - this is great! Is it possible to get a whole afternoon or evening of a late 60s or early 70s WFIL program with music and news included?

      Probably not. Tape in that era did not run for 4 or 5 hours. You could only record for 30 min to an hour.

    It wasn’t cancelled Ellis captain and Mrs Noah retired the show ended with their retirement in December 1994.
    This was an episode in the late spring early summer of that year
    They announced their retirement around September
    Sadly both have passed on.
    Mrs Noah died of dementia in June 2011
    The captain died in August 2016 shortly after turning 90 of cancer .

    All the other hosts were told the same thing but all of this was before Disney took over capital cities abc
