Broadway has come a long way in the last few decades and there's a lot more to musical theatre now than shows like The Sound of Music and Hello Dolly. Broadway has become more hip, exciting and "cool" thanks to shows like Spring Awakening, RENT, American Idiot and Hamilton, just to name a few. The Great White Way has come a long way from Rodgers & Hammerstein and so too has the diversity of the performers.
