    We love our Math with Confidence! We are just about to finish 2nd grade and excited to do 3rd grade next. It is really the sweet spot for our family. I love how in the warm up she seems to build on a skill that they will use for a “new” concept coming up. I’m always like “Ah, smart Kate! I realize why you did that!” :) We came from The Good and the Beautiful math. We are doing Preschool math at home with my 4 year old and it has been so fun for my game/play minded four year old. We are excited to start MWC K this fall. Thanks for the awesome flip through!

    I wish I saw your video before investing in two other programs for math! This looks like an awesome curriculum. Thanks for sharing.

      Oh gosh, I know that feeling well. I will say, MWC is one of the most -cost-efficient programs available. So if you find your other program isn't a good fit down the road, switching to MWC wouldn't be a huge investment (compared to some other math programs).

    Hi Sarah, I just discovered your channel and as a relatively new homeschool mom, your reviews and videos have been tremendously insightful and helpful. Thank you for taking the time to do this.
    I was wondering if you thought MWC could work alongside Singapore Math (Primary) to fill in the gaps where there could be more of a game or play learning component, or if you thought that would not be a good idea…. Thanks again.

      So that was my thought process when we started our 2nd grade/Kindergarten school year. Honestly, I wasn't good at pulling from multiple resources - too much for me to juggling on top of everything else. I eventually stopped adding in MWC and then noticed my kids weren't retaining as much previously learned stuff and were dreading math lessons. When we finished Primary 22 2A and KA, I decided to give just MWC a try for a month and go from there. It ended up being a better fit for us.

    Hi, I just stumpled upon your channel. Do you have any comparison videos between MWC and Singapore Dimensions and/or MWC and Singapore Primary 2022? My head is spinning trying to decide b/t these 3 for first grade! We did MWC for K and loved it. I keep wondering if its "enough" though and how the foundation it lays and mental math compares to that of Singapore? Do you have any insight into this? It seems like MWC has blended some of the aspects that I like about both Dimensions and Primary 2022, but I worry it might end up being too gentle or light. What are your thoughts with having used both Singapore and MWC? Do you supplement MWC with anything? I was considering maybe doing MWC and adding in Mastery and Beyond or something similar as needed? Thanks for any advice you can give!!

    Thank you so much for this well-informed video! I'm always on the hunt for curriculum, so this was timely. Do you know if the program covers grades 3-6?

      Hey, so MWC is a new program. Kate Snow is currently launching one grade level per year. Right now, grades K-2 are available. Grade 3 will be available this June, then she will continue to release one grade per year (in June) through grade 6.

    Thanks for the Flipthrough.
    Why did you use something else for 1st grade? Also are you planning on using this in its entirety or just the games?

      Hey - I've got a breakdown over on my website of my math thinking. Initially, we didn't use 1st or 2nd MWC because it was about half a year behind where my oldest needed to be. But we slowed down a lot the last couple of years and added in Beast, so now it's lining up better. www.homespunchildhood.com/blog/math-through-the-years

    Thank you so much for this video! My son picks up math really well so we did dimensions 1a/b for first grade but he for sure got burnt out and I feel like he’s losing his love for math. This seems like a much better fit. Do you think there are any big knowledge gaps if we switched from dimensions to using MWC for second grade?

    • @homespun.childhood
      @homespun.childhood  Рік тому +1

      No, I think you would be totally fine switching. 2nd grade is really a year of consolidation of skills and building fluency.

    I am so torn. We started k and 1st grade with dimentions. But by the end of 1st grade my daughter seemed a bit burned out and overwhelmed. So I've been debating between that or primary 2022....and now math with confidence 🫠 I would appreciate any advice you may help. Thanks.
    A little background on my daughter, she loves the activities on All about reading.

      Burned out seems to be the going thing with Dimensions. 😬. If she likes the AAR activities, MWC would definitely be my recommendation. It is way more fun than Primary and includes lots of games and activities.

    Thank you for sharing this video. I’ve been curious about this program since it seems to be gaining popularity amongst homeschoolers.
    We’ve used Saxon K-3 for the the early years and although it’s been wonderful, especially when it comes to building a solid foundation, I’ve been curious to see if there’s anything else out there that also does that in less daily time.
    Does this program have a spiral approach as well? What is the average length of a daily lesson? I love the color but have always been worried it would be distracting for my learners. This doesn’t seem overwhelming in that aspect.

    • @homespun.childhood
      @homespun.childhood  Рік тому +1

      Hey, So I think the program is gaining more popularity as more levels are released. Right now, levels K-2 are available, then a new grade will drop every June through Grade 6 (so 3rd grade will be released this summer).
      I think MWC does a really great job laying a solid foundation in a fun, developmentally appropriate way. The lesson length various on grade level. MWC K takes about 15 minutes. 2nd grade is 15-25, depending on how long you spend on the games and how you incorporate the review page. The workbook pages are divided into A and B for each lesson. Page A is all related to the lesson skill. The back, page B, is review.
      I'm not sure how I would place MWC into the spiral vs. mastery approach. I think the overall curriculum has a mastery approach in many ways, there is a lot of time and depth on each skill. But, the warm-up review and workbook review page are very intentional, and add a spiral element to the program. If you want to learn more about Kate Snow, I highly recommend checking out her podcasts with the homeschool sisters, I have them linked here: www.homespunchildhood.com/math
