Carol, I am sure I've told you of your DIRECT role in my inspiration to play the organ. WELL. I have moved to CT to take classes with some rather exceptional individuals.. And I can play that now!!! amoung other fascinating, and historically significant works. Thank goodness for passion. and thanks to you. Eva Cavaillé-Coll
Carol is the best concert organist in the world, and a charming woman to meet in person. If you have the opportunity to hear her perform in San Diego's Balboa Park on the Spreckels organ, don't miss it.
To be able to generate such powerful and glorious sound with your fingertips...playing such an instrument (and this particular music) must give you a sense of immense POWER!! I feel overwhelmed with emotions just listening to it...I can't imagine how that would feel to perform it!!
This always makes me think of one perfect Spring day with a bright beginning and end and a quickly passing storm. It's full of movement, light and air, energy and life. No matter how rotten I can feel, Widor and Dr. Carol and this performance just make me get moving again! For me the Toccata is his most "celebratory" work, and no one animates it like Dr. Carol. Thank you... I wish I could have heard this live, too!! Even if it meant literally being a spider in a web in a corner somewhere...
This is a most talented lady, who obviously loves what she dose, and dose it very very well, this is one of my favourites pieces, it’s a pleasure to watch and listen.
Now there's a woman who LOVES what she does. This is one of my favourite pieces of all time and I have never heard it played with such feeling, power, and fluidity of subtleness as on this recording. Not even Prof. Ian Tracey has played this one as well as this for me. You can tell she's living and feeling the piece all the way through - and who needs sheet music when you're doing that. Parts of this literally brought tears of joy to my eyes. Nice one.
That was beautiful! I have to say though that I watched Widor play his toccata and he took it waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy slower! Just hold it back a bit and it sounds fantastic! I loved when the 8 and 4 ft principles where by the console and then just shuffle back a bit and then you hear the full force of the organ! Loved it keep up the great work!
A brilliant piece executed with great passion! I'm not too phased by the camera; the music is truly magnificent and is still one of the all time "greats" in organ music!Whilst this piece may be played and perhaps overplayed, it is still one of the best pieces written for this, the " King " of all instuments!
@BellVideo @jschroeder1991 This organ has only 81 stops (106 ranks, 5,582 pipes), which isn't big at all, but the Kaliningrad Cathedral organ apparently consists of two organs that can be played together. The bigger organ alone has 6,301 pipes, which is more than the International Performance Center organ, and together the two organs in Kaliningrad count 122 stops and 8,525 pipes.
@VampyresTV I completely agree, Vamp. Isn't there a very orgasmic quality to almost every impassioned organists bodily expressions in the very intense, emotional climax of a musical piece? Especially that of French romantic music. I believe that Dr. Williams has a very special connection with the sounds she produces. I believe that this sort of sound permeates deep within the souls of those who love it. Making a deep and forever lasting mark in our hearts.
Go for it girl! You did yourself proud. Charles M. Widor, too Wonderful. Now I've got to listen to the rest of your post. Sent with love and blessings. CVD
Please could someone explain why Widor wanted a complete section to be played "cross handed" (see from 4:52)? Had he written a simple hand switch between manuals, he would have proved that his meant tempo was not too fast.
If ears could have screaming orgasms mine would be so exhausted right now!!! This is nothing short of glorious.... Widor's "Toccata" never sounded so good!
Back. Holy smokes, its like I have not heard it before. She is spectacular and almost makes one forget Lveta Apkalna. Well, that won't happen. we are just blest with two very talented organists ans musicians.
Great! but that last high note seemed slightly out of tune as she increased the volume on the final ensemble. I listened to it several times but maybe it's my hearing. Where was that organ built?
Perhaps it's me but I always think her pacing is in constant flux; a work is never rigid, despite a Toccata requiring to be so. However, this may be what she intends the listener to think. She's a foxy minx though. That wink at the end is so self assured.
Dr. Williams seems to bring a sexy charm to classical organ music. We all caught her 'wink' of the eye as she came to the end of Widor's piece....hmmmmmm..!!! Interesting finaly.
After all of that great music...someone's worried about what kind of shoes you wear?...lol (joke) Another... odd question, If you have memorized a piece and you know it VERY well, do you "space out" and just enjoy the piece. or still have to concentrate very hard....or the other extreme, does sheet music come very natural to you, music just flowing out of your fingers then through the pipes?
Mrs. Williams....tremendous playing of this wonderful piece....
I could listen to you play all day.
Thanks for sharing.
Among the best. Colorful and expressive. Thank you Carol.
Dr. Carol Williams is the civic organist for San Diego. I have seen her play plenty of times on the Spreckels Organ. Always fun on a Sunday Afternoon
I listened to Widor's 1932 recording before I found this. I am absolutely breathless from this wonderful performance. THIS is THE tempo.
Wow... Dr. Carol... beautiful... I'm astonished... no more words... only Music... Your Music!!!
Carol, what a great piece of music. You brought tears to my eyes! I applauded for a full minute.

Eva Cavaillé-Coll
Wow! Absolutely magnifisent! Listen to this beautiful piece of music over and over... Well done dr Carol!
A piece of music is dead until a skilled master brings it to life - a master like Carol.
This is the best I have heard thus far. Exceptional organist -- and I liked the wink at the conclusion.
Beautifully done. One of my five top pieces. Thank you.

A visual and aural feast, a most vibrant performance! Thanks for posting this
.Best regards from Scotland!
I like how this woman plays the organ so passionately!
The sound leaves me breathless!!
Bravo Carol.
Probably one of the best versions of the WIdor Toccata i've ever heard.
A real pleasure to listen to your playing.
Yet again I say this, I love Carol Williams, she can play just about anything! and really good too!
That was beautiful! I have to say though that I watched Widor play his toccata and he took it waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy slower! Just hold it back a bit and it sounds fantastic! The Windor Toccata?
Great!

Im impressed the power of the music and the instrument, i can't get enough of it.
This still gives me nice firm goose bumps.
Amazing, simply Fantastic. Thank You!
Amazing organ and brilliant musician!
We were blessed to have Carol as our Civic Organist for 15 years in San Diego.

@Japanese1970 Charles Marie Widor composed this. It's the Toccata from his Symphony in F.
Go for it girl! You did yourself proud. Charles M. Widor, too Wonderful. Now I've got to listen to the rest of your post. Sent with love and blessings. CVD
From organ symphonie nr.5, last piece, Charles-Marie Widor
When those arpeggios go into the left hand I always come unstuck
Fantastic!
The most clear performance of the Toccata that I have ever heard! Wow! Mazeltov!
Very clean and crisp sound!
this is such an awsome upload

very very very GOOD !!!! Thank you.
@MrsAlexisClyde Eva, San Diego shall miss a wonder soul.
Wonderful!!! And a very nice organist! :) Especially at the end! Great! :)
You and the instrument, Magnificent!
@aidavdbrake I like the "only 81 stops" to me that would be quite a large organ.
SUCH A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN WHO CAN PLAY THE MUSIC OF THE GODS... THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO...
Amazing musician!!!
the end is great!!!
Beyond Belief! Outstanding.
Absolutely stunning.
Magnificent--- a very talented lady
beautiful. a true celebration of music.
Zeus of the instruments! Wow!!! Makes me tremble!
I think its like a concert venue
@kitty6837 Exactly. What is it doing there? This is A++ work.
If ears could have screaming orgasms mine would be so exhausted right now!!! This is nothing short of glorious.... Widor's "Toccata" never sounded so good!
I got goosebumps!
What is the name of the music, please? Very good player
Wow!! wonderful music! Great Organist!! Beautiful Woman!! 5 *****
Loved the playing, loved the organ. What's so fricking difficult about holding a steady camera???
There's an odd looking thing next to the expression shoes that looks like it rolls. A new type of crescendo/sforzando control?
Absolutely stunning
Back. Holy smokes, its like I have not heard it before. She is spectacular and almost makes one forget Lveta Apkalna. Well, that won't happen. we are just blest with two very talented organists ans musicians.
Widor will say "i did'nt write it for speed competition" Please listen to his own version on youtube
That's at the Doctor's discretion!
That song is in RollerCoasterTycoon 2 O.o
This is the piece that I am looking for a long time.
I heard it in an Abbey after a mass. May I know the
title of this music?
You'd have to be a musical mad scientist to play that monster!
That is absolutely Amazing! Fantastic! What peace is this called?
J'apprécie beaucoup ce cadre, je trouve plaisant de trouver de la très belle musique. Merci Beaucoup, Carol.
Merci Beaucoup !
What a pity that Boellman's Suite Gothique was deleted...
Absoulutely tremendous
Un pur et joyeux déploiement de talent qui éclate avec Charles Marie Vidor; tout simplement " j'adore "'! Toccata, toccata, toccata al cielo!
Great! but that last high note seemed slightly out of tune as she increased the volume on the final ensemble. I listened to it several times but maybe it's my hearing. Where was that organ built?
How does this instrument works?

She's a foxy minx though. That wink at the end is so self assured.
This beats country and western music by a wide margin! ;-)
Beautiful! I'd have more to say, but I'm too choked up right now.
Carol is best!
some people have all the fun
I just got a Roland Juno DS 88 and like the Cathedral setting
Sweet!
Must have several jet engines providing the air for those pipes - great stuff - Wow!
Amazing!
Fantastic!!!!
yhyhyhny

Thank you. Someone who agrees. Beats the old man you normaly see stood at the organ (appologies to my organ teacher lol).
Thank you. What is the venue for this organ?
