1:37 the asian girls reaction in the middle left to the camera man summs up the situation. first suprised in disbelief, then realized nobody cares and then saddened. still dont think pdog meant it racist, more like as a form to battle him. but the majority takes it different.
@@xsxm3116 mostly because Asians are the most racist, especially towards blacks. they should be grateful that they are welcomed in the spaces which was created by black culture.
Don't know why ppl mad bout PDog. the dancer is name riceball. He was eating rice and transformed into the dancer Riceball is all i saw. I can see why it could be ignorant but its not that deep to claim racism. other than that, I thought P Dog did good here and i am usually not a fan. He did hip hop, i have to admit.
transformed into the dancer Riceball? well by him eating the rice, and then pointing to the back of his shirt, as if it were the jersey that Riceball was wearing, would clearly have been enough... going as far to slanting his eyes was most likely not intended to back up the theory you have of him "transforming into the dancer Riceball", that shit was done to make fun of him, which I get is done in battles, but there are plenty of other ways to go about doing so, and none of them have to involve bring race into the picture... For you to say it "doesn't go that deep to claim racism", tells me either you're oblivious to what could/would be considered forms of racism (no matter how big or small that may be), or maybe you've been fortunate enough to have never experienced or endured any racism directed towards you, personally, no matter the way, shape or form. I would hope it be the latter, or maybe you have other reason to think that way. But having been raised in the States as a Korean-American, attending school with a bunch of privileged kids, which the majority of were white, and having experienced several different kinds of racism, whether it was verbal or physically done through actions, I can tell you know as a grown ass man, nearly 30 years of age, I wouldn't tolerate it, not one bit. Regardless if it's someone you know or not, and regardless if it's being done in a "friendly", joking or serious type manner, it is never someone that should be excepted or allowed to be done to someone.
His name is Riceball and he has a Rice Jersey on lol, if I went by "TatersFerBreakfast" and wore a Ginger Jersey I'm basically allowing people to mock me as a drunk Irishman if they please. I feel like things like this are best saved for tough opponents, like when Waydi and Majid did the whole "lega lega lega" yell thing at the Fusion Concept Finals. I bet Riceball took it as a sign of respect tbh that a great dancer like P-Dog felt the need to take a risk like that.
so you're pretty much saying that by Riceball wearing that Jerry Rice jersey, he also may have unintentionally/unknowingly "opened the door and made it acceptable" for P-Dog to poke fun at him, right? Okay, I can go along with that way of thinking, which would make it understandable to let the "eating rice" move that P-Dog did, slide by. Especially since Riceball did it himself during his go... but where in your way of thinking does that allow someone to make derogatory and racist remarks towards another, and have it be okay and/or acceptable? I must be missing something here.... and for you to try and compare that racist shit with the "'lega lega lega' yell thing", as you so eloquently put it, is stupid as shit. What Waydi and Majid did was something that revolves in the world of dance, where all those directly involved as well as participating, are a part of... On the other hand, what P-Dog went and did is far beyond just dance, and doesn't have a place in that environment in my opinion. That type of shit is something I would expect from some grade school kids, or other's around the same maturity level. And by the way, making fun of one's ethnicity or ethnic background is not the same as making fun of entire race of people....
Tek Kwon Chill brah, it was a dance battle. How do you think it is that some ppl, in some situations can say "nigga", "bitch", "fag", etc... to each other and not upset each other? Social cognition bruh, use it. Plus dude... You reaaaally think a guy whose name is Riceball just wore a J. Rice jerse, by coincidence? And making fun of ethnicity = ok, but "race" isn't? Aaaahahahahaha, ok.
i know it's a dance battle, I'm just stating that racism shouldn't be tolerated during one, or outside of a battle. and just to clarify, of those 3 examples you gave, only one's considered a racist term. which is used amongst the same race in most cases, which would explain why they would not upset each other... from my experiences, people do usually get upset or offended when someone outside that particular race starts to use that word carelessly, but at the end of the day, to each his/her own I suppose. But I still stand by the idea that racist remarks or gestures shouldn't be accepted or tolerated at that. I think people should have some self-respect and treat their peers in that same regard, and if happens to go on among those who don't get offended with one another while doing so, then at least have the decency to do it behind closed doors, in private, not in a public environment where there are likely to be those around who can see/hear that going on, and either become negatively influenced to act in the same manner or learn to think that it's something that is okay and acceptable to do with no regret or backlash from others around. At the end of it, when it's all said and done, there should be a moment prior where people think to themselves, would they like done to them what they're willing to do to others. Just think before they speak/act... Now with that being said, in this specific situation, this being a dance battle and all, although it doesn't justify doing so, I could understand if it were a spur of the moment case during the heat of battle, with ultimately no sort of ill-intent or malice directed towards the opponent. It just shouldn't go unnoticed or be ignored just because of the situation at the time, it should still be addressed at the end of the day, one way or another... Not trying to be hostile towards you or say that you are wrong or anything like that, and I apologize if you feel that way, but I assure you it's nothing like that. The topic of racism is just gets me very irritable and it makes me feel some type of way I guess.... Anyways, stay up and have a good one. Aloha~
DHK I agree generally there shouldn't be racist taunting. I don't think that's what this was. Part of a battle is responding to your opponent's round. Rice opened up with making and eating rice which is associated with his culture. P-Dogg responded and riffed off what he did. If you feel very sensitive about it, maybe your issue is with rice ball playing off the Asian stereotype to begin with? P-Dogg was responding to him and not a whole race taking it in context.
