Hi I recently got my tefl certificate and I live in South Africa. I would like some advice on how to go forward in getting an online teaching job is it possible for you to assist me. Thank you kindly. Charmaine
7/12/22: I applied today and was asked for my Outschool's Profile link. I wasn't provided an opportunity to upload my video. But I will wait to see what else is needed from my submission. I communicated with tech support to make sure that my device was appropriate especially since I share my Google Slides. It is soo different but a lot of fun. Allschool's tech support was A-MAZING with logging on with me LIVE to make sure I know how to share my Google Slide. She walked me through how to do it and other fun ways to interact with my future students. I am super excited to get started. Initially I wanted an online company where I don't have to create, just teach. But since they responded to me within minutes,...and I already have lessons/activities already prepped, I'm just going to go ahead and give it a go. Wow! Thanks again for this on-time news. Blessings to you Teacher Dude. 7/13/22: Update. Checked my email and I was FAST PASSED (application accepted) in the same day. Woo hoo!! Time to create some classes. Thanks again!
Bangkok! That’s why I want to teach online. I’m going back to Thailand for my 4th time this June and am hoping that in the next year or so I can stay there for a while, teaching online.
Thank you for this informative video! Allschool sounds like a perfect fit for me. I used your link to apply but now I cannot get back in to upload my video.
Hello, Thank you for video. I am trying to figure out if I have any business even trying to teach with online platforms. I have degree in Nursing & Business. It sounds like Allschool is geared for younger. Also, I want to look into Outschool. Do you have thoughts on what work better for my situation? Thank you, Carl
I applied the other day but after seeing how much they push their courses and to refer others I cant help feel it's a pyramid scheme? Is there any proof they are legitimate in the sense that teachers are being paid and their are students enrolling in their classes?
100% they are paying teachers and students are enrolling! Its not a pyramid scheme - they need good teachers and referrals are a fantastic way of getting good teachers hired. Great way to make extra cash too!
Hello Tim, many thanks for you video. Uhm I was considering to sing up on AllSchool as a teacher but I'm not native, I'm a colombian watercolor artist/teacher living abroad so I though maybe I could teach spahish or something until you said it was only for natives and I get it. Is there any chance that you know where can I find a place for my classes (art, watercolor painting or Spanish)? do you have any recomendation for me? I will really apreciate it. many thanks in advance. 🤗
Hello there, great video, thanks for sharing! I have one question, in the video you said that they take 15% until the end of June, what do they take now? I've looked and looked and looked and I cannot find this answer. Can you help me? Thanks so much :)
Hi Tim, thanks for this video and all that you do to help us navigate online teaching! Do you know what the learner cancellation/no show policy is on AllSchool? Or where I can find it?
Hi Tim, I had signed up and listed my classes but I wasn’t ready to start teaching right away, so now that I try to access my account it says its frozen and I cannot access it. Is there anything I can do to refresh my account or just bring it down and redo it? I want to teach art classes and this was the nest platform for me to do so.
Do you know what times zones they have students in? I'm in Costa Rica. (US Mountain Time). I did 4 years of teaching Beijing Time but I'm over it. I want to teach between 7am - 11 pm my time.
Hi Tim! I currently work for Varsity Tutors. It doesn't pay that well but it's easy and fun to tutor on this platform. Can you recommend any other tutoring companies? Also, what is your opinion of Vipkid?
Booking are very slow. The platform is slow with screen sharing problems even their zoom links have problems with students unable to connect their audios. Takes a long time for a class to be reviewed.
Thanks for this, Tim! Are teachers who are living outside of the US able to teach with Allschool? I know that was an issue with teaching for Outschool.
@@onlineteacherdude1284 Sweet! That's very cool, thanks for the info. We're in Saranda, Albania. It's been really nice here! We miss Thailand and Malaysia though.
Hey bud. What is the best online opportunity for ESL teachers right now? I've never done it but I have my TEFL and a Bachelor degree. I need to get out of the U.S. ASAP. Can't handle the insanity anymore. Want to go to Thailand. I also used to teach math at my college math lab. When the Chinese ESL schools closed I didn't know what to do. What's the next best option now?
Good question! Wish I knew too. There are lots of low paying companies out there - I think a good one is Cambly but the best option is to go independent. I would look into Allschool and maybe Outschool while you are in the states.
Hey Tim. Thanks for the good info. I am just starting this online journey after 25 years of teaching ESL in person. I'm wondering about bank accounts. I live in Korea and am here on a visa that does not allow me to work. I think my current account is monitored by the government and will be flagged if I get paid for online classes using it. Is there a good bank or website or app that I can get paid through without getting in trouble?
Absolutely David! I use Wise (formerly TransferWise) works great - or Paypal of course! Most companies can also pay into your bank account in the US or where you are from.
Hi Teacher dude, do you have some ideas about new lesson ideas you can share with me? I pretty much only help my students with conversation practice, I have a lot of repeat students but I noticed over the last 2 months my amount of students and repeats when down a lot, I made a big and organized conversational topic list I can use with my students or we just talk about what ever they like, sometimes I go over IELTS practice test questions with my students, but I feel like I have very little options with my students and my lessons are the same, they will rebook a few times, some for a few weeks but later they drop off, I feel I don't have enough variety, any suggestions? Thanks
Hey Jay, what about getting some training in a specified area like IELTS / TOEFL, etc. ? I would look into a curriculum like Off2class - lots of great lessons there on a continuum that will keep your students coming back.
So you have to create your own course AND teach it? You don't just create your own course for the kids to take on their own time? What is the hourly pay?
Hi Tim. In your intro you maybe forgot to put links on screen. You pointed with your fingers but nothing showed up. I thought I should let you know just in case...
Hey, yes the links are there but you have to click the little info button and it brings them down. Not sure why they don't show up like they used to across the top but they are there....Ill have to find out why they are hidden
Hi! Thanks for the video. I’m a music teacher, more specifically guitar and piano - does it seem that Allschool has a music market or is it more academic-based?
