I dont get the Newjeans thing. NJ debutted with a 90s R&B sound. This is not that. I think the comparison is just an avenue for haters to hate.
Yeah ikr, ILLIT carries the cute girl concept while NJ is more of a Y2K concept, it would be very stupid if someone said they were similar, let alone saying ILLIT copied the NJ concept.
Exactly it makes zero sense why people think that it sounds even remotely like newjeans
I think it's the bsides like ASAP (vibe) and New Jeans (animeish) but those bsides aren't their main concept. That's like saying any slow R&B is "like Twice" because they did Rewind. It's not their concept/sound they are known for.
But the comparison is also considered as a compliment? The haters jsut use this comparison as a way to hate but the comparison can also be views as a compliment cause you are a rookie group getting compared with a very popular group.
@@oOohio It's very funny to compare with group that have debuted before, if they debuted together maybe it would be a different story, but yeah, I take this comparison as a compliment, that's fair enough.

Only 2 of the members are minors (both 16 years old), the rest are not (between 19 and 20), and i don't get the whole NewJeans comparisons, of course they are both from HYBE and people will compare, but both are doing total different sounds and genres.
This song is the biggest and highest charting 5th gen song debut by a girlgroup, they are already the current 5th gen queens and they debuted like a day ago lol .. The song is blowing up in South Korea and they are going viral the same way TWS and NEWJEANS did when they debuted.
At first I thought "I guess I can understand the NJ comparison a bit" even though for me Illit gives off dreamy, webtoon, arcade pop and NJ is more Y2k cool girl, but I went back and listened to Attention/Hype Boy to see if I felt the same vibe after listening to them back to back and they sound nothing like this song. I didn't know anything about these girls prior, but they have me locked in. I love this song and the cute choreo.
Wonhee will be 17 in June. But she does look like a baby still.

Newjeans songs are moombahton and jersey club style with Y2k concepts...
While ILLIT uses pluggnb genre(NJ hasnt released any pluggnb style yet).. but ofc people assume just coz it has the same catchy upbeat style, they conclude something is a copy of something. Newjeans focuses on western market while ILLIT is looking towards Japanese market.

- Concept: Youthful with a western vibe, Y2K Fashion.
- Genre: Hip Hop, R&B, Garage.
- Dance: Girly with a Sporty touch. Hand movements are more open and wide.
ILLIT
- Concept: Youthful which is focused on Japan Anime (Even the makeup they use is igari style), Cute Concept, Backroom Concept, Dreamy Fantasy (Their hair looks sloppy but still natural, like people want to sleep/wake up, this is to get into the Dreamy concept).
- Genre: Lofi, Pluggnb.
- Dance: Cute and refreshing girly. Hand movements are more closed.
