I have a 06 Hummer H3 with the 3.5 liter Inline 5. I've had it almost 13 years now, and I've put 305,000 miles onto it. No major issues, just regular maintenance. It is still running strong. I don't get why people put this vehicle down so much.
That's a whole lot of miles! Awesome to hear that the H3 has done well for you! The H3 is definitely one of the more underrated vehicles out on the road today.
Because people expected an updated military grade civilian version of an H1. What we got was a GMT 355 Platform vehicle which was basically a Chevy Colorado so people hated it for cheaping out. Oh and the horrible gas mileage didn't help either.
That makes 2 of us, I will never get rid of my H3, it's an 09 and my 2nd one I have had and it is perfect for taking my Wolves with me!! I am hooked on mine, Hummer H3 for life!!🐺🐺
I have a 2008 Alpha model which I purchased new. It presently has 180k on it, and it runs like a top. No history of major problems other than routine maintenance. I plan on keeping this beastie.
Hi! I own a 2007 h3 and I love this vehicle! My hummer is truly the best rig I have ever driven. They are way misunderstood. They are strong, comfortable, fun and solid as a rock! One thing they are not is fast. The gear ratio was not built for speed for sure. I want to buy one more for fun and not a daily driver! I wish they would make them again. I would be all in! Thanks for this post!!!!!
I have an 07 as well and it's been great. Bought it with 114K on it and put about 12K on it since. Been excellent. Probably the most capable vehicle for the money you can buy today.
Same! We bought our 07 manual H3 five years ago with only 48k miles in near factory condition. It’s now in the upper 120k’s and we’ve really put it through its paces here in the PNW summer and winters including hitting a couple deer and having to get various components repaired or replaced. One thing I absolutely agree on though is it is one of the slowest vehicles I’ve ever driven, and feels like a little tank chugging along while everyone else passes you haha. The one thing our model lacks though is the front diff locks. Ours only had rear but did come with a full roof rack!
Have you had any overheating issues? My 2007 H3 overheated the other day(got all the way to the red at idle then dropped fast once we started moving and I cranked the heater just in case) could def smell that sweet coolant smell. I checked the radiator hose and I pulled the coolant cap and watched the flow on a cold start. The fan is kicking on but it seems like it isn't pushing the coolant properly. Help! I JUST replaced the injectors and plugs and may need a new fuel filter or pump. Any suggestions? Thr vehicle is MINT otherwise.
I have a 2006 h3 with a 5-cylinder straight. It's four-speed automatic. It has over 200,000 mi on it and I just drove it this past summer from Las Vegas to Wyoming from Wyoming, Idaho from Idaho to West Yellowstone from West Yellowstone to Miles City. I pulled a trailer the full way and loaded it up with furniture and what have you and brought it all the way back to Vegas with absolutely no problems. I love my h3
Wait til you guys replace the alternator and starter. The alternator is a Royal PITA to get out. The starter is an EPIC ROYAL PITA to replace. 😔🔧🧰. On the upside, my engine lasted to 254K miles before these items went out. 👍👍
My baby has 240 k miles and I still love it 🥰. Only owner, is a H3 2008, kids are fighting for ownership after I get the next vehicle. We intend to keep it. Not problems at all just regular maintenance.
I have a 2008 bought it 3 years ago no trouble at all I added power running steps because I am disabled also installed a hitch for a scooter lift. It is a nice vehicle
I bought my 2006 Hummer H3 just 2 years ago. Great looking Truck with 129,000 miles on it. The fact that it had a 5 Speed Manual transmission was the option that decided I was going to own it ! 2 years later... Totally awesome/fun vehicle to drive. Took the rear seats out for camping... I just installed a 330 watt solar panel on the roof ! *FJB !*
I bought my wife a 2006 H3 with 60,000 miles very clean and well maintained. And I have a 2010 Jeep Wrangler very clean. I never work on the H3 with the exception of oil changes and tire rotation and brakes. I love my Jeep but I’m always working on something. That being said I’m very happy with the H3 and my wife in her own words will never drive another vehicle.
I have a 2008 and love it !! Had jeeps all my life. I'm 60 and fixed my hummer old school. Does what my jeeps did. Every one thinks it looks good. Thanks for what you say about them. Its just about respect !! Charlie
I just purchased a 06 H3 with the 3.5L 5 cylinder. Has 128k on it and honestly loving it so far. Already put it through it's tasks off-road and can say it's amazing.
I have black 2007 Luxury H3 model with 44,000 miles I bought a year ago. It's got brush bar, winch, offroad lighting all around the truck. Two separate gas tanks that work off a switch. It is sitting on 35'" tires with 3" inch lift in the front 2 1/2 " in the back. Custom roof basket, tent on the roof, awning on the driver's side on the truck, tow hitch, snorkel, custom ladder off and FJ Cruiser, flip hood like the Hummer H1, extra gas cans on the back door, black and tan leather interior, tinted windows. I love my truck beside routine maintenance I have had no issues.
I had owned two H2’s that I bought from a local dealer in 2008 and 2010. I loved them and kept them in pristine condition. My dealer had called me up in 2009 and said since you’re a good customer I’m offering you an opportunity to purchase a very limited H2. I arranged a meeting with him and did purchase a hummer H3 Championship Edition. I was told only about 600 were produced. It is fully equipped loaded vehicle, with adventure/ off road package and all the goodies. I bought primarily for investment purposes. I only have 2,100 miles on it. The interior stills smells like new! I’m going to finally start to enjoy my NEW 2009 vehicle, and start using as my daily driver.
I bought the wife a H3 as a birthday present in April 2006, first year. It's been back to the dealer twice, once for the hood louver recall and once to replace the heater core. I've done all of the maintenance and up keep since new. It has 222K on it now and I regularly take it on 600 mile road trips. I'm looking for an Alpha to play with. It's been in snow up to the head lights, when put in gear it plowed a path with snow rolling up onto the hood. Best new vehicle I every bought!!!!!
I Love my Hummer. I was the second owner. It has a great service history. It drives so well. The trick is to make the effort and really take care of it. service every 10K.I am in Australia.
All vehicles with a sunroof have the potential for leaks. It's knowing how to care for, or correct the problem causing the leak. Hummer forums have great information, to help resolve the problems causing the leak. And, the steps necessary to prevent future leaking. Love my 2007 H3 Base model. Thanks, for a nice video.
Grampa EJ Murphy there’s also a couple of good videos on UA-cam that shows step by step how to fix the problem. I haven’t done it but it looked fairly simple.
I have the rarest model of all I think... the "X" version. I never see many of them anywhere... is someone hoarding them? :) LOVE MY H3. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. Only issues? sunroof leaked when I bought it @ 145k miles. Leaks come from 2 conditions only: gunk in the drain tubes blocking them, and the drain hose disconnecting for random reasons from the sunroof drain tray (they aren't connected very tightly at all and it doesn't take much to dislodge them). If you get water dumped on you from above while driving and turning, then the tubes are clogged. If no water comes from above and only your carpets are completely soaked, then one of the 4 drain tubes has dis-lodged from the drain tray (and your carpets will remain soaked for a VERY long time as the H3 is water-tight!). There are videos on how to fix (involving getting into the headliner) depending on which of the 4 came loose. You can figure out which one by getting some LIGHT weedeater line and standing on the 2 seats, stand up through the sunroof and feed line into each corner drain. Look closely after about 6-8" if you can see it anywhere... that would mean the tube is detached. The other thing you can do is cut the 4 drain grommets open where they dump into the wheel wells, once the tubes are attached and you are sure no tubes are clogged. Routine maintenance is to pour a little cleaner soapy water into each one until it drains out every time you get an oil change. The BIGGEST inconvenient issue with all the H3's is that stupid factory anti-theft system... some of them randomly begin failing to work properly... which kills the ignition for 10 full minutes. The causes are numerous as to why they fail, and the workarounds are also just as numerous (I do not close my door until the engine starts, and I also never slam the key in and turn it quickly and so far that's stopped my "anti-theft" from acting up... and you can also spend $250 and get a "newrockies" bypass module which take the anti-theft system out of the picture completely).
I own a 2009 Hummer H3 with 121, 250 miles, that I alone put on it since September 14, 2009. I changed all fluids at regular maintenance intervals, had new brake pads & rotors installed, all terrain tires were replaced when needed. I had a externally mounted transmission fluid installed in September 2010. I towed a small trailer with the hummer h3 from Albany, NY to Seattle, WA and south to Reno & Las Vegas, NV & east to Albuquerque, NM, Oklahoma City & Albany,NY. I also drove to Florida and back, from 2010 to 2018. NO major problems during my solo road trips. It has been an excellent cross-country road trip camping vehicle for me.
I have owned my 2008 Orange H3 Alpha since 2010 when I purchased with 20k on it and now have 180k miles. Just spent my first cash on it by replacing front suspension components and rest has been routine maintenance. My two Hummers have been my most reliable vehicles I have ever owned. I live in Minnesota and have never driven any other vehicle better in snow then this vehicle other then the 2006 H2 Luxury which I had for 7 years that was even better though just too big for my daily commute. I have driven both and if you have the opportunity I do believe the Alpha is a better overall purchase then the 3.7L motor in my opinion though are becoming a rare vehicle to find.
Mine is close to 200,000 H3 2006. Great vehicle! Minor leak that was fixed. Replaced the battery. I fixed the sunroof tube water leak - I just cleaned the tubes. And replaced a fuel management sensor for $25-plug n' play fix. Other than that - awesome vehicle. It snowed very heavy today and it drove around great! I drive it about once a week.
I have a 2007 Hummer H3 Adventure Package with M/T 285/75R16 I bought it with only 74,000 miles on it and now it currently has 83,000 miles on it it has the 5cylinder runs great I did have a few problems a door jam switch went out in it but it was quick cheap easy fix like $9 and less than a minute to install I had to get a new gas cap also my valve cover was leaking along with my radiator so I have a great warranty and took it in is was covered now those are fixed but it still wants to over heat so i burped the system and it helped a little bit but tomorrow i am replacing the thermostat which is easy to get to if you go through the driver side wheel well hopefully that'll fix the over heating issue but other than those things so far it's a great rig my first one I have ever owned and I will tell you the adventure package is awesome I can go just about anywhere I've been in deep snow up to my doors and my hummer goes right though it no problems I have also pulled a stuck semi out of deep mud with this baby I'd say if you have a chance to buy one do it dont think about it just do it
Bought my ‘06 “Adventure” new in 2006. What with all the sand and rain here in Florida, this rugged little vehicle gets me where I need to go without hesitation. It is smooth and reliable. My son has a Jeep “Rubicon” and twice now I have had to tow him home. He hates me because each time I arrive at his location, I place a cardboard sign in my window that reads: “Jeep Recovery Vehicle”. At 75, this is the best vehicle that I have ever owned. I’ll pass it on to my son one day for sure.
I have had an 06 H3 and now have a 09 H3 both are black and I absolutely love it!! No complaints and no problems with it and it has 85K on it. Drives great, handles great and extremely comfortable!! I'm not interested in anything else out there on the road and I have driven alot of different types of SUV's and as far as I am concerned nothing else compares to my Hummer H3 and gas mileage I get about 20 on highway. Of course the more you put your foot in it the mileage goes down but that's like any vehicle. My sunroof has never leaked either!! I just love mine and will not get rid of it for anything and mine is spotless inside and out!! Love my H3!!!🐺🐺
I have an 08 with 153k+ mileage & I have never had a si gle problem with mine, thk GOD...& she still looks beautiful, a head turner & numerous compliments...Let me just continue to take care of her...
06 H3 3.5 I picked it up 08... right about 165,000+ miles... replaced the radiator with no other issues so far(knock wood) Drive to GA, Tenn, NC yearly on Now, New Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3's fantastic ride. I love my H3 !!!
Never had an H3 but if it’s anything like my H2 it’s a beast❤️I have 237k on my 2005 and still a daily driver running like new and just put the 4th set of 35” Nitto but changed to the Ridgegrappler and love em!
@@JayNav-mz3pb bro it’s pretty awesome I love the looks it gets I find the ride comfortable the fact that it’s 4x4 all the time helps for when we are off road and in the city it feels safer than the average car for our family, a bit of a gas guzzler but I also have another vehicle so it’s ok, for family and off road/weekends it’s great I’m glad we acquired it. I hope u are well in tx with the weather and all
I have a 2008 with only 45 thousand miles, it's been in the garage. I purchased it new, but now I can finally drive it every day since I am retired. I love it. Just put me a backup camera and bluetooth with a navigation.
I have a 07 Hummer H3,. I bought it off the show floor. Red with tons of Chrome, 158,000. So far I’ve replaced the blower harness and battery. I keep up on all maintenance. Still runs great! Love this car..
My 08 Alpha has been a great vehicle. Very capable! I pulled a 11,000 lb disabled tractor up onto a trailer with no trouble at all. A fanstastic off roader as well.
Are the Alpha's really as bad on mpg's as what the EPA say's? I am looking at one but 16 hwy is just to bad, I want it for a daily driver as well as a weekend warrior.
I have a 2006 H3 with the inline 5. I bought it at 82k miles 5 years ago. The head was blown when I got it, so, I had the head rebuilt at the dealer. Love this thing ever since. Drove great!! On the road much better than a Wrangler does, off road it drive fkn good too. Only thing I have added is a head unit (audio), powder coated the stock wheels black, and added the mud tires. I love this thing!!! Itsy fav out of my 5 cars.
Bought mine new, 2006 w/adventure package. Have had to do absolutely no repairs. This is the best car I have ever owned. Goes like a champ in the snow and on the sandy beaches. 15 years old and the yellow paint looks like the day I drove it out of the showroom.185K miles currently.
Bought an H3T new in 2009 with Adventure and Luxury packages. 75K on it to date and have driven it to Moab UT a couple of times from Ohio. Regular maintenance, some front end parts, new radiator, and wheels and tires during my 11 year ownership. Plan to keep it because there isn't anything on the market today that is as comfortable on road and well mannered off road.
I have a 2008 H3 alpha and have loved every second of it! It has yet to disappoint on mountain passes, but it's still a very smooth ride on road. Now I'm in no way saying it's fast.. but it can still put a smile on my face when I get on the gas and it gets loud. I plan on owning it for a very long time - whenever the LH8 dies, it's definitely getting an LS or LT heart. Thanks for the video!
Matt Leopard bro i have 3.7 liter and i also like its sound..But if i trade it to 5.3-will a see a great difference in speed up or no? I just bother do I really need to trade it to 5.3 or just just enjoy my i5 because v8 also is not a race car? Thank you for answering
@@volodymyrprosov6134 Hey man I've never actually driven the 3.7, so I can't really speak to how difference you'll feel.. But I've definitely heard the common complaints about the i5's being sluggish though. So as far as the 5.3 is concerned, I personally don't have a complaint with it being sluggish especially for its size. Hopefully you can get a good test drive of an alpha before you have to make that call to decide if it's worth it for you or not
Matt Leopard and what is your 0-60 ?mine with i5 is 10 seconds. But after 60 mph it really hard to speed up to 70-90 mph.And is it truth that with alpha if you will drive over 80-90 mph you are at risk to break front end suspension?
06 Hummer 03, Inline 5. 125k miles. Owned it since it was new. Just a few issues. Leaking in the sunroof, had to replace the exhaust. The main thing was I was off roading in Death Valley and out of nowhere my side curtain airbags deployed. It was out of warranty so I had to spend about 4500 replacing them. Otherwise, it's been awesome.
Thanks for a very informative video. In 2008 I bought a gray 2006 H3, still own it, and it currently has 65K miles. In 2011, I bought a black 2009 H3T, still own it, and it currently has 68K miles. The mileage is kept down on purpose because I think these most likely will become collector vehicles. The H3T has a body lift kit installed and runs 35-inch mud tires. Have easily driven both in about two feet of snow. Other than the sunroof slightly leaking and routine maintenance, I've never had any issues with either H3s. BTW, there is a simple inexpensive fix for the sunroof leak. The left sunroof drain is a little time consuming due to its accessibly. The right drain is fairly easy. I absolutely love both these Hummer vehicles!
I own a 2008 Hummer H3 Adventure - it’s the best truck I have ever owned. I am the original owner and it is my second H3! On me current truck my Sun roof leaked. The leaking problem is due to plugs GM used to prevent bugs from getting in on the drainage tubes. Basically the slits are too small! Eazy fix and took me about an hour to fix. Locating and getting to them is the hardest part. The actual fix or drill the hole bigger took less than a minute. 12/10/21 and my 08 adventure has 156k miles and still looks new! Only issue is my front cloth drive seat has worn out a small tear and I am having a difficult time trying to get a replacement cloth cover. Lots of leather replacements available
I got my H3T new in May 2009, 5 cylinder, Adventure package and 5 speed manual. The truck had been amazing, it has 180k. No real issues, just breaks, front end and 1 set of plugs. It’s pulled heavy trailers and gone places most truck wouldn’t go. I would buy a new in an instant if they were still building gas ones.
An 09 Luxury with 130,000, had to replace transmission, sunroof leaks, gas tank venting issues, constant TPM issues, and a dash that lights up like a Christmas tree in extreme hot conditions, but wouldn't trade for the world, absolutely love it. Almost forgot, both front wheel bearings and thermosta and fuel pump.
84,000 miles on my 07, four years with it, love it, mayor problem the rear main seal, other than just coins, oil and gas!! Keeping it till the end!! I even got a H3 Hummer tatt😎
I purchased a brand new 06 Hummer h3 for my wife. It's now 2024 we still have the vehicle it has 210,000 miles on it and it has been solid and very reliable.
Love my 2007 H3, but it's been sitting in my driveway for about 2 yrs now. Emotionally attached to it cuz I love it so much, but it needs a new timing chain, and I've been reluctant to invest the $1500-2000 on the repair, then having more issues popping up and making the car a money pit. Other than the timing chain, the only other issues I've had at 100k+ miles are sunroof channels get clogged and leak into passenger seat occasionally, and the a/c doesn't work on extremely hot days.
Just bought a 2019 Hummer H3X ....... 68,000 miles from Florida - found our from owner! FEEL BLESSED !!! Spent most of time in a garage - NO passenger seat wear just a bit on the drivers side! I have always wanted one. Really tragedy when the market went into the dumpster 2009 and 2010. H3 caught up in the market debacle - government market "over site", told to look the "other way" about loans and you know rest ! I know, I was day trading the market. Public thought all Hummers got 14 miles to the gallon so all Hummers went down! I have the straight 5 cylinder and get 19-20 miles to the gallon on the thruways and 15-16 mpg around town. I was VERY fortunate !!
As I said before I have had nothing but issues with my 06 h3 adv. Full rebuild of my front suspension and soon back suspension. And my engine also failed at 125,000 miles and I had to get a whole new engine. But I still love it.
I have a 2006 base bought it 5 year ago 3.5 auto 190k miles currently just regular maintenance at 160k change timing components with waterpump thermostat fan clutch, the only major repair was the front differential bushing around $250 parts and labor, im in love with my h3 ,if something bad happens for sure i look for another h3 2009 or 10 or the truck model if is possible, great trucks, forgot to mention average 14 mpg city
Thanks for the comment Emmanual, it's always great to hear from daily drivers of these vehicles so we can get real-world data! Sounds like the H3 is treating you well.
The sunroof leaks were already addressed to many years ago due to the accumulation of dirt from the hose of both front side door panel behind the rubber seals. The end of the hose has these cross-like plug which does not effectively drain out leaves/dirt/etc which eventually cloggs the pipes. Simple solution is just to cut off the plug. No more sunroof leaks.
2009 H3, Inline 5cyl, 5spd manual, almost at the 200,000 mile mark. It's a tuff truck for sure. Occasionally I drive over things not to avoid some road hazard but simply because I can. Driving it feels like driving a nimble Army tank. It's heavy and slow but can go anywhere in any weather, and has a tight turning radius so it maneuvers well. There are plenty of quirks with the H3 besides the sunroof. Scroll through some forums you'll learn common issues quickly. Most are easy to address. For example; when the interior lights stay on and the door ajar sign is on in the dash, even though all the doors are closed securely, you need to replace all the door switches, 5 including the rear hatch. They cost about $7 each and take about 2 mins each to change.. Stuff like that. But there's a host of information out there on these trucks, and parts don't seem to be in short supply either. I have a good shop that does maintenance on mine but most small quirks I've been able to address myself. It's a GM truck. If you know those you get it. I'm currently noticing that my reverse lights aren't coming on when I'm backing up, so I'll be checking bulbs and most likely wiring. All that said, I love this truck. I'll keep it as long as it will run. I bought it because it reminded me of a G.I. Joe toy vehicle from my childhood. It's fun to drive, especially in the snow, and it's different, unlike the Wrangler which is basically every other car on the road where I live. Gas mileage is manageable in the stick shift. I just plan on spending more on gas when I really want to open her up, but mostly around town and short trips I can make her sip it. I don't think I'd use this as a family SUV, run the kids to practice and dance class type vehicle. I'm a guy with a dog, who doesn't mind being slow on the road but likes the ability to drive straight off into the woods if I want to, I don't have to run a thousand errands a day in this thing. For that I'd say get an Audi Q5.
I have a 2008 H3 Alpha with 80 k miles. I love the vehicle, and it is very awesome as an offroad vehicle, and very comfortable highway vehicle, and a great tow vehicle. It pulls my 23 ft boat with ease. One problem the H3's had was the transfer case. It was equipped with a plastic from Borg Warner that will fail, usually before 80,000 miles or so. If you go back with the metal shifting fork you are good to go, and might as well change the drive chain out while you are at it. Also it is getting harder to find some parts. But a all around awesome SUV.
Love my 2006 H3 Adventure - purchased in June 2017 @ 92000. Only things I don't like are solid rear window & position of switches on door. That was fixed in 2007. I have the 5sp man and get solid 17+ around town!
I had a 2006 Base model and I got 303,000 on it before I sold it. I changed huh assemblies, alternator and front main seal other than your basic maintenance. Just picked up a 2008 adventure low miles and clean. Love the H3.
We have an 09 H3 alpha (5.3l v8)w 62k mi. that we bought in 11/21. It's an awesome rig for a snow country daily driver! It sat for a long time. We love the v8 power and, if I remember right, the combined gas mileage is only 1mpg different from the I5.
I did it no more leaks in the sunroof took me some years to do it but I'm definitely keeping mine Until the Doors Fall off Great truck very reliable 2008 alpha orange
The Lord and I have a 2006 Manuel 5 speed 5 cylinder poor Man package on the inside, with over 200, 000 miles/ Daily Driver H3. People that dislike the H3 have never drove 1. Every Machine will eventually have problems, However if so fix them fast to insure longevity. I've replaced the plastic Radiator with all Aluminum works excellent, Valve Cover Gasket, Ac blower, I bent a shock off roading and cracked a windshield, and finnaly replaced the good old radio with one of them fancy touch screen Tv's. It's been through muds, a few Ranch es, flooded waters, rescued Lifted Dodges and Chevys to mention a few and through a scary Creek to recall a couple I can make it moments. I've been blowned out of My boots after seeing and feeling what this little baby Hummer can Do. Now I can't take this H3 to Heaven with Me, however I can have fun and give it to one of My little ones before leaving this place.. If You evers get a chance to Operate the H3 or be a Owner, Remeber everyone can't go through everything You'll be able to. So be a friend and Help them fellers out. Well take care, I'll see Y'all out there.. P.s Give the Glory to the Man up stairs( Lord Jesus Christ/aka My best Friend)and He will always help You get to where Your going..
Commenting now. I just started looking and the prices in your feed for similar miles. It is about the same price. A first indicator of a classic is a vehicle holding values over time.
I have a mint shadow green luxury with 95k miles. Sunroof just leaked this weekend for the first time. . It’s on crosswind 35” mud tires. Some tasteful mods. It’s a true pleasure to own. I’ve needed coil packs no biggy. I used oem plugs and coils and it’s going strong. Also needed an upstream o2.
The H3T Alpha is far and away the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. It has the Adventure package with locking front and rear differentials and full under body armor. It’s a perfect size. Great for a family of 4. Small enough to park and to drive in the woods. You can’t get it stuck. Maybe you could sink it ? It’s quiet on the highway. It’s great in sand, mud and snow. Take it anywhere. It looks awesome. I get compliment daily and it’s sharp enough for business or date night. My woman loves it. It’s overbuilt in every way. I owned and loved a decked out full size bronco when it was new. The H3 Alpha is better in every way. Power, traction, reliability, gas mileage (Who cares, but I get 15 mpg) Its also better than the Jeep Gladiator Rubicon in all those same categories. (The doors and roof aren’t removable though, which is cool with the Gladiator. So, if you want to spend 4 times as much for that have at it.
I have a 09 Base model. I’m the Second owner.Front Diff exploded just under warranty. Now have cast iron front carrier vs. Aluminum stock. All Yukon Gear parts. Been solid for the last 100k.
I have a 2009 base model H3 that I purchased new and hardly drive which has 51k miles on it. I just love this truck. I have had zero issues with it so far and expect to keep this vehicle for years to come.
I own a 2008 H3 that I purchased off the lot new in 2009. It had 500 miles on it and had never been titled. The sticker price was 41,000 and I paid 31,000. I have slightly less than 70,000 miles on it. My wife and I absolutely love it! I’ve done some off-road driving mud sand water etc. I’ve upsized the tires to give it a slightly taller stance. I did have issues with the “leaking sunroof“ which was covered under warranty twice by GM. Once I learned that I have to keep an eye on the drain ports for the sunroof free of debris and periodically run a wire gently through it to ensure it stays clear, I’ve had no other problems. I believe initially the drain tubes were undersized and I’ve been told GM during warranty repairs increased the size of the drain line. I’m sure that’s TMI. I’ve had the coilpack on the front cylinder go bad around 60,000 miles as water leaked past the seal causing it to short out. A quick trip to O’Reilly‘s and a few basic handtools and I replaced it myself and was back in business. This happened while I was on a short out-of-town trip. Again probably TMI. I also did a DIY on the rear CV joint of the front drive shaft. It sounds complicated but you’d be surprised how easy it was. And I assure you I’m no mechanic. Aside from some minor issues on the interior such as lights for controls in the door panel, the switch that controls the lumbar support bladder in the driver seat, couple of dash lights, I’ve had no problems in the passenger compartment. It doesn’t get the best gas mileage with the 3.7 Liter Inline 5 but that’s not what I bought it for and it’s comparable to other SUVs and pick up trucks in that year model. One thing that I find interesting is that from a water fording perspective the air intake really is that rectangular box at the bottom of the windshield on the passenger side. Unlike it’s big brother the H2 where these are only decorative on the H3 that actually serves as the intake and therefore you can go through some pretty deep water before being concerned with sucking air into your engine. If you don’t believe me go check one out yourself and trace the path. It almost has a built-in snorkel. Also the doors have double and triple water seals which helps keep water out. When it rains heavily and floods I actually like driving around looking for deep flooded streets to drive through as i drive around everybody else’s drowned out vehicles. The traction control is pretty damn amazing. I once drove into a sandpit drove circles around a four-wheel-drive Ford pick up that was stuck. I pulled ahead of it backed up to it hooked my tow strap to it and pulled it out of the sand as if my hummer had some sort of magical power! The driver of the Ford could not believe what they were seeing. Needless to say I love this vehicle will probably drive it until the wheels come off if that’s possible. My biggest fear is somehow or another I get in a wreck there’s no way for me to replace it. If they still made them I would buy another! Oh one other thing if you can find a model with the monsoon sound system I don’t know that there is an OEM sound system on the market that can top it! Simply amazing!
Awesome vehicle, I have 2010 H3T Alpha loaded every option. Leveling kit, 1 inch body lift, 34” tires, cold air, throttle spacer and can get 17 mpg on highway untuned..90k on it
I have had my H3 since 2005 with no issues. At 175,000 miles I lost compression and the dealership could not find the issue, so I replaced the engine. Now over 200,000 miles and just replaced the shocks (although no issues) and changing out all of the rubber bushings.
I have a 2009 H-3 Base, which has 84K original miles. I take it to One GM Dealer in Hickory, NC. Everett GMC in Hickory is the Only place I take it for service or to have anything I need installed. No accidents, clean history and I am the 2ed owner. I only use Name brand fuel ~ Shell, Exxon, BP etc. One of the Best vehicles I have ever owned ~~~
I have a 2006 H3 that I bought in 2014 for $21,000 and 36,000 miles. Now it’s 2019 and I have about 81,800 miles on it. Runs great, even though it’s a little beat up. Will probably have it at least for the next 10 years, possible 20+ if I put some money into it. It’s a good vehicle and a shame that GM isn’t making them anymore.
I absolutely love my h3.
They get put down and were always underestimated because of thier big brother, the H2.
Because people expected an updated military grade civilian version of an H1. What we got was a GMT 355 Platform vehicle which was basically a Chevy Colorado so people hated it for cheaping out. Oh and the horrible gas mileage didn't help either.
Unfortunately mine got hit in an accident in the rear it got totaled but best car ever omg except had harness issues
collector or not!!! i keep my little beast..it's the best 4x4 i ever have!! H3 for life

No wonder the alphas are barely on the market
Cant i put a super chip in mine to make it faster
Have you had any overheating issues? My 2007 H3 overheated the other day(got all the way to the red at idle then dropped fast once we started moving and I cranked the heater just in case) could def smell that sweet coolant smell. I checked the radiator hose and I pulled the coolant cap and watched the flow on a cold start. The fan is kicking on but it seems like it isn't pushing the coolant properly. Help! I JUST replaced the injectors and plugs and may need a new fuel filter or pump. Any suggestions? Thr vehicle is MINT otherwise.
@@Ms.GreenJeans u may likely have air trapped and need to burp it. Many vids on UA-cam. Good luck
Buy it, store it in a garage, look at it, buy a t-shirt so people know you have one.... make a few bucks down the road. I'd rather drive and enjoy it.
Same.
I agree!!! Enjoy it and love it
Not using collectors cars is the same thing as not fucking your girlfriend to keep her Pussy tight for the next guy. Makes no sense.
Have a 06. One of the best vehicles I’ve ever owned. This was built right. 250,000 miles and still works perfect👍
I have a 2008 Base model I purchased 18 months ago. Current mileage is 64k. Very happy with this vehicle. No issues, just routine maintenance.
I have a 2007 h3 my miles are at 11,601 sun roof had a drain hose that had to be replaced on right side
I have a 2010 base at 108k no problems besides a pinion rack replacement but I also go off-roading occasionally
The Koushka bro do you take base on offroad?and how does your base do on offroad?ty for answer
We have aH3 X. 3.7.Fully equipped. Owned it sense 2013. Daily driver. No plans to replace it. Just an amazing ,amazing vehicle.
I just bought a 2007 H3 for 7gs… it’s frickin beautiful!! I really didn’t know much about them til now… what a cool vehicle…
Loving mine, will be holding onto the beast forever.
Just bought 2 month ago h3 2007 358 000 km its running Perfect! Really impress
Sounds like a great setup!
Sounds like a great rig. Post up a video!
This reply needs pics! :) Sounds great!
Best turning radius of any suv. So easy to work on.
I was surprised with this when I test drove one recently. For its size, the radius is relatively short.
Never knew about Champ edition, congrats thats great.
Best new vehicle I every bought!!!!!
my heater core must be leaking, I smell coolant. how much did you pay for the repair? I know the dash has to come off :(
@@dennisminitrail3141 labor was around $800.00 at the Cadillac dealership I purchased it from.
It has been an excellent cross-country road trip camping vehicle for me.
got 07 loaded to the hilt had it since 2011 put 140,000 one of my favorite rides in my garage.
I grabbed a Hummer H3 2020 Alpha V8 around 100K miles, beautiful & intimidating ride, people think twice before they cut in front of you! :)
I have a 2007 H3 and I love it. Still getting compliments about it. I will be keeping mine, it's fun and great to drive.
Picking one up tomorrow
I have a 07 hummer h3 214,000 miles 14years still running smoothly
My 2007 H3 .....sunroof leaked and was such a quick fix! Wld not trade it for anything! Lovvve my Hummie!
Mine started to leak last month what was the easy fix ?? Mine
is a h3 Alpha 2008. I have 170000 miles on it still running strong.

I just got my 2006 with chrome package. I simply love this Hummer. Fun to drive
Just ordered a 2008H3 from CA with only 47K miles! Arrives Sunday!

Best truck
I loved my 2006 H3-drove it for 7 years, had 130k miles when I sold it. I often wish I would have kept it! Such a great looking and driving vehicle.
I have a 07 Hummer H3,. I bought it off the show floor. Red with tons of Chrome, 158,000. So far I’ve replaced the blower harness and battery. I keep up on all maintenance. Still runs great! Love this car..
I love my 2007 H3! Never would get rid of it!
Ps; yes sunroof leak and getting the drivers side window and door locks to work after your battery goes dead or you disconnect it.No other issues. ☺
Love my H3t you are correct nothing like it 😎
I have a 2008 H3 alpha and have loved every second of it!
Hopefully you can get a good test drive of an alpha before you have to make that call to decide if it's worth it for you or not
Matt Leopard i just bought i5 and idk what to do:install magnaflow exhaust with cold airdoc or buy an alpha)
I’m keeping mine.
I have a nice 2009 H3T ALPHA 80,000 miles, bought it new and love it
84,000 miles on my 07, four years with it, love it, mayor problem the rear main seal, other than just coins, oil and gas!! Keeping it till the end!! I even got a H3 Hummer tatt😎
I purchased a brand new 06 Hummer h3 for my wife. It's now 2024 we still have the vehicle it has 210,000 miles on it and it has been solid and very reliable.
I have a 2006 h3! I upgraded a few things (touch screen is my fav part!) but this is the most reliable vehicle I have ever had!!
I have an 07 H3 Adventure with rear locker, 130,000 miles no major problems just oil changes, runs like new and I drive it daily.
I've had over 40 vehicles, no junk.
And my H3 is one of my all time faves. I love it.
Run air through the drains on sunroof easy fix
The sunroof leaks were already addressed to many years ago due to the accumulation of dirt from the hose of both front side door panel behind the rubber seals. The end of the hose has these cross-like plug which does not effectively drain out leaves/dirt/etc which eventually cloggs the pipes. Simple solution is just to cut off the plug. No more sunroof leaks.
That was done to prevent fumes from coming into the vehicle as well as preventing bugs from nesting and clogging the tube.
@@rotory2002 thanks for info buddy!
I have the 2008 Adventure H3 in Red. Absolutely love it! Has 108, miles 🤩
Keeping mine
They look sharp 👌👌
My Luxury H3 has 60,000 miles, still like it just came out the showroom. Love it!
I finally got my beautiful black beast of an off road Machine! Extremely Satisfied.
We have an 09 H3 alpha (5.3l v8)w 62k mi. that we bought in 11/21. It's an awesome rig for a snow country daily driver! It sat for a long time. We love the v8 power and, if I remember right, the combined gas mileage is only 1mpg different from the I5.
If you drill out the ends of the drain tubes, Your sun roof will never leak again.
I did it no more leaks in the sunroof took me some years to do it but I'm definitely keeping mine
Until the Doors Fall off Great truck very reliable 2008 alpha orange
Recently just baught an 06.....I love it. ...fuel milage sux.....it has the 3.5. But I still love it...and great shape
I’ve just bought one 2008 15K miles... I will have it in 2 weeks. Can’t wait for it!
how much you pay for it ? Thinking of getting one
Have a 2007 H3 since new, 200,000km in Australia, no issues so far.
Just bought a 07 and love it. I wish I had gotten it earlier
I have a 09 Base model. I’m the Second owner.Front Diff exploded just under warranty. Now have cast iron front carrier vs. Aluminum stock. All Yukon Gear parts. Been solid for the last 100k.
I just bought one last week with 67k on it. Luv it. Will keep it forever.
About to get an 08 with 130k miles. Real clean too
Awesome vehicle, I have 2010 H3T Alpha loaded every option. Leveling kit, 1 inch body lift, 34” tires, cold air, throttle spacer and can get 17 mpg on highway untuned..90k on it

I have the 2006 and love it!!! Only issue I have had is a mount for the differential.
I have had my H3 since 2005 with no issues. At 175,000 miles I lost compression and the dealership could not find the issue, so I replaced the engine. Now over 200,000 miles and just replaced the shocks (although no issues) and changing out all of the rubber bushings.
2009 Alpha off road pack 35,000 miles. No issues... Sunroof very easy to fix, just clean the drain lines.
