- The soundtrack for Fallout 2 was composed by Mark Morgan. On May 10, 2010, it was released together with the Fallout soundtrack on Morgan's Vault Archives album.
I'm a native San Franciscan and I can confirm that those Muni streetcar bells are 100% authentic. That is EXACTLY what they sound like. I've had this soundtrack on in the background while I work and when I heard those bells I thought, "That's weird, there are no streetcar lines that close to my place!" before I remembered it was just the music. LOL
that "dun dun" at 1:21 gives me goosebumps, the original fallout soundtracks were something else
San Francisco is probably my favorite location in Fallout 2 and not just because they have the best weapons and gear. I find the Shi to be fascinating and both mysterious in lore and gameplay.
Love the fact that the Chinese have taken over San Francisco. This song really conveys that mystic chinese feeling, but with an apocalyptic/omnipotent feeling. Absolutely brilliant
The subtle trolley bells, the nautical theme with a hint of mystery and fear.. The echos of a dead once great city that’s what I hear with this theme

god... i just love it.
I walked through the old high rise buildings and corpse filled streets and found my way to Chinatown. There were at least 5 guards at the main gate. All of which had heavy armor and weapons. But this town had a few green trees. Maybe a GECK? Like I needed. Besides that, this town wasn’t worth protecting. I saw a few old buildings, including weapon stores and low cost hotels. After walking through where the beggars are, I handed a few of them some money and they thanked me. I ended up at a place with a huge rusted boat. There were a few citizens and guards at the dock with some fishing for gigantic fish. I saw a man holding his sides and begging for help. But I needed to find a GECK quickly so I wandered off to a metal gated area. Once there, I found something weird. Something that I had seen in a few advertisements of the old world. I saw technicians and people throwing metal at it and others welding it in place. Standing in a suit near it was a man who had an upset and surprised look on his face. Next to him stood a 12 year old girl with brown hair to her shoulders. She looked mad. The man then walked away. A short man, not a midget, but short man, who had a Canadian accent was being yelled at by a man in a lab coat. I turned around and walked out of that ugly town as fast as I came in

San Francisco Journal
Hoping to find that when i play Fallout 2
Dude, are you the same guy who punched a man in New Reno and left?
Also, that's kinda like how I wrote my journal.
This just sounds like San Fran now minus the armed guards

First heard this music in '98 and it's stuck with me ever since. Never heard something so eerie and hopeless, but at the same time intriguing
i really love the sounds of the san fran trolleys
After playing it this really reminds me of something from planescape torment. Really the whole soundtrack does
A lot of the devs and Mark Morgan probably would’ve been working on both at the same time since I think they got released the same year, or close to it.
Same composer
I always wondered what happened to the Shi after The Chosen One blew up the Oil Rig. Did they get absorbed into the NCR, or did they offer their knowledge under the condition of their independence? The Shi always were rather isolated. They seem to prefer it that way by what the townsfolk say before you become idolized in the area.
2:35 The best part
This part of the song makes me oddly optimistic, and I’m usually a pessimist.
This and "Radiation storm" are my favorites
my favorite location in the fallout series hands down.
The Shi, Descendants of The Shi Sub Crewmen........
Work, work work
Rice , rice , rice
The best OST in a fallout game
welcome to Red 888 guns !!
Thanks a bunch! using this and FO1 soundtrack playlist when playing with my mates in Fallout Online (multiplayer mod) :D
This music is interesting for me. On one hand its a great piece of music individually but this just makes me remember the absolute agony of having to navigate San Francisco in Fallout 2. Not to mention the numerous bugs I encountered while in that place makes me just think that this is just a poorly designed place overall and was definitely rushed to meet deadline. You will know what I mean if you played Fallout 2 and have reached this place.
My game literally crashes everytime I try to enter the Hubologist base, ruined my save file permanently. Damn shame, game was fucking amazing up until that point.
I reached it, and I only found it a bit lacking in content and also some quest givers disappeared on me.
i should count my lucky stars the only glitch I found was a vagrant punk that glitched out of the map
This has had the most lagging for me out of all of the locations with New Reno coming in at second, I assume partially because they’re two of the more visually demanding areas in the game. Haven’t gotten to Navarro or the oil rig yet so I dunno about those.
I remember that I did make myself part of the submarine crew through the emperor computer but for some reason everyone in the sub was hostile regardless. I killed them in self defense and when I came back to san fran everyone in the town was hostile to me
Look, a lo wai.
Don't worry, I'll kill the dragon for you.
i wish the shi had at least 1 talking head
«Lao wai means "foreigner"»
The emperor is a COMPUTER?
well it's a little past 12. Anyone up for lunch?
Ahh right the damn Hubologists.
Nameless one would have a field day here
0:49 when you know its made by the baldurs gate team
Don't forget Planescape: Torment! Mark Morgan also did soundtracks there and for example Sigil music has the same vibes as here )
@@alexeyilves7613 Oh god I forgot about Planescape man I want another game of that

me sooo honnneeyyy
Fallout 2 FOREVERRRRRRRRR
I have that power armor
Call To Power OST - Asia Minor
Kind of funny that San Francisco looks more like New Reno these days
I haven't known this place allot and it's not like the los Angeles it's still fresh.
(prewar i think?)

I’d rather live in F2 San Fran than modern day San Fran, thanks Democrats.
the democrats are no longer living in your head rent free, they've bought real estate and constructed an apartment complex in your frontal lobe
In fallout 4 and 76
The original is in the russian Andrej Tarkovszkij's '79 movie, the "Stalker", one of the most famous of Tarkovszkij's movies, and one of the most famous post-apocaliptic movies. Recommended, for all of you! :)

Totanka1989 nah nigga
Watched it a long time ago. Deep.
Haven't watched, but heard good things about it.
Oh, we got a comedian here. Very funny.
Dude, it's a fanmade trailer. He just used this track as it fits well into general mood of the movie. He even mentioned this track in the description.
kinda sad that nowadays SF looks more like a typical NCuckR town (high taxes, lawless, dirty) than the Fallout 2 version
least alt right fallout fan
Ah yes, American politics, where raising taxes is taboo, and lying about the West coast is customary.
I used to eradicate this particular city hehehe, perhaps the stench of rice and gutter oil was too unbearable.
This city just sucks
(don't get me wrong, OST is great anyway)
I have same opinion. I hate SF.

The whole "end-game" of Fallout 2 was pretty shitty IMO. After getting several Power Armors for you and your buddies, dozens of overpowered weapons and shitloads of ammo, the game loses it somewhat. Fallout 1 was still exciting to the very ending.
Vernon Roche Guess the time limit gave people "time".
Fallout 1 was always ..on the run.
But I tell you what, after playing the new "hugely immersing RPGs" that have popped up....Fallout 2's HUGE dialogue choices and many MANY pathways blows them out of the water....almost 2 decades before.
Shame on today's devs.
Try playing decent guy. No stealing.

Where would the fun be in that?
"I usually go inside people's houses and search through their belongings...oooh like those over there!.."
**Renesco gives you a curious glance**
Too bad we never get to see San Francisco in Fallout again. Apparently, Obsidian planned to reveal that San Francisco has been destroyed by the Enclave in the canceled Van Buren and New Vegas.
The enclave honestly sucks
Bethesda made obsidian cut that as they wanted to keep the bay area open, so officially san fran didnt get nuked
@Frank Roidlight huh? How would the Enclave nuke san fran if their base was destroyed. who even says they had access to nukes on their oil rig in the first place???
@Frank Roidlight ..what???
It showed up in a cameo in fallout 4 but yeah its not a playable area
