- Bombardier Flexity 2 Tram - 011 Arrives in Blackpool. 23/03/12.
This video shows the new tram arriving at Starr Gate and being unloaded on to the depot head shunt line. The pantograph is raised and the tram takes power for the first time on UK soil and drives off into the depot for commissioning.
Ding ding! I'm a tram and I approve this video! Great footage!
That's one handsome tram.
Maybe the old trams were charming, looked nicer. I agree with that.
But it was also important, that a mom with her kid in the buggy and people having to use a wheelchair can get into and out of trams without asking for help all the time.
Or old people who just can't climb steps good and quick anymore.
How long do you want to wait at each stop? You probably want no ride that takes very long
when you are going to work or school. Taking a ride with a museum tram is another thing.
Then you don't care about the time it takes. The way is the goal. But not for daily rides.
So the low floor trams and buses were made. Would you like the old charming design on a
brand new low floor tram with all technical highlights they should have nowadays?
Great video. Loved seeing the tram settle in the rails and the pantograph going up.
I've seen a few videos of trains being loaded and unloaded, first tram, but it never stops amazing me. Excellent video, thank you.
"sorry mate, wrong colour . take it back" !!
Great video. Amazing to watch, straight from the lorry onto the tracks. I rode on one three days ago from the Pleasure Beach to Cleveleys. Really smooth ride.
Nice seeing your video. Used the trams for the first time last month, very enjoyable.
I enjoyed that,thanku for posting
yes the old trams still get used on a special heritage service at weekends and bankholidays using trams such as box 40, bolton 66, boat 600, open top 706, 717, and more heritage trams are likerly to be added to this pool later in the year
Bombardier Transportation is a German, wholly owned subsidiary of Bombardier Inc. of Canada. The part that built this tram is German, but the parent company is Canadian.
It is possible for them to be German while having production and engineering sites in 26 other countries. It's actual headquarters are at Schöneberger Ufer 1, Berlin, Germany. Remember not to confuse Bombardier Transportation (a German organisation) with its parent organisation (Bombardier Inc.)
These are 2 companies that are both owned by the Canadian business yet operate separately and therefore have different countries of origin.
perfect unboxing ... awesome video thanks maan \m/
Great video. Great stuff. Enjoyed watching. Good camera work, brilliant exposure.
Whilst the new trams may not be liked by many it needs to be recognised that the Blackpool tram system is still a commercial system that needs to provide modern, up to date transportation and generate revenues in order to sustain itself. Whilst I too love the old trams and their character without the new trams and the income they generate the old would simply cease to be. They have a character of their own too in a way and one day people will be saying "do you remember those old Bombadier trams?"
G Cunningham shgkhm
Yep your right about that
Whatever they look like they should have been made in the UK.
Bet it won't take long until the bearings and moving parts seize up after going through a traditional Blackpool sand blizzard lol! The old ones were tough.
Well filmed, well done, great video
oh yes, the lifting of the pantograph, well caught. french crew to deliver it, like watching paint dry, you cut that well.I was glued to the screen, very nice Stuart, cheers,
P
Ummm...they're German speaking.
Nice new trams!
One word - BRILLIANT!
A real beaut for Blackpool.
So satisfying ughhh..
Bombardier's country of origin is NOT Germany. Bombardier Transport is an international company. From their website:
"[2002] Bombardier relocates its Transportation headquarters from Montréal, Canada, to Berlin, Germany. This move strengthens its ability to serve Europe, the world’s largest rail market."
It is therefore wrong to call Bombardier a German company just because they moved their headquarters there.
Scharf, der LKW kam aus Paderborn! Ein schöne Straßenbahn!
Die Transportbegleiter schwätzen auch deutsch 😁
we have the same trams in Toronto
wow! The moment when the first axis touches the track - somehow impressive. But nobody understands anyway * g *
Great clips Stuart thanks
Very nice video. I'm a big fan of light-rail systems and they simply don't exist in Southeastern, Michigan.
the only aerospace companny that makes trains.
Different division. Boeing used to make them too in the Vertol Division.
Yes, infact Bombardier is by its very nature a Canadian company. It's entire history resides in Canada.

Corporate history, not manufacturing history. What you see is Adtranz history.
great video
How many of you were counting the wheels on the truck?
Elegant engineering...but rather sad, taken in context. Alstom is opening both a new wireless hydrail electric rolling-stock plant and a new rail tech academy in Cheshire. Exorbitant 1880s Russian track electrification technology (search "Pirotsy tram") is following steam right over the hill. Pantographs will go the way of coal scoops.
Tell me Stan, why is any article promoting Hydrail from you? And I have news for you. Catenary is still King, and always will be on main lines. Hydrail, while useful for non-electrified lines, is no replacement for the real thing. And I'm an electronic tech, been following the Hydrogen debate closely. It has limited uses, and is expensive when the entire production and delivery process is considered.
Sorry but that will never happen in Blackpool lol
0:54 run run run.. don`t miss your captures!
piece of work!
Great Video
Ok
เดี๊ยว คอยดู เมือง ดาวส์ทราวฟ์เวอร์ ทะเลที่ 2 บ้าง ละกัน เขตทะเลเก่า ถึง ภาคอีสาน 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
Excellent un loading.
One must not forget 'the wrong type of sand' incident at the ill fated launch in Fleetwood......
Ayup - Reet grand video!
Geez that thing is long! Not so much a tram as a train on lowered suspension. I don't fancy trying to overtake it.
Un vídeo muy interesante y entretenido.
а рельсы то какие ржавые ппц.
Nice video mate
Have they decided to replace their old double-deck trams???
nice tram!!
Cool!
i just want to ask will they still be using the old trams
one day our India got this one
So many complications - just hit the gas in a truck and tram will land on rails. I saw it in some other video with unloading of logs.
Yeah but remember that they are unloading a tram not logs
这是在哪个城市?
Steady cam is needed
Just the vehicle you need if you ever find the tram illegally parked.
Why are they so noisy if they are practically new? Shouldnt have they changed the rails ?
+Guillermo Pecoraro It's the flanges on the wheels grinding on the rail.
Some trams look the exact same as bus including this tram.
Guillermo Pecoraro it is because of the pantagraf is new the transformer is being put up for the first time
nice
I love the video
This is a holiday town. The new livery makes the teams look like electric hearses.
What a stupid decision when you have an established, iconic livery.
Teams?
Thanks, interesting but don't much care for the modern look
where r they produced and assembled? in canada?
Not sure
they are produced in derby England by a company called bombardier
I think you will find Bombardier Derby build heavy rail trains and these light rail trams were built in Bauntzen Germany. Certainly judging by the language of the drivers and crew.
No this is in England. The truck and trailer coming out Paderborn (Germany) out my Homecity.
Built at: Bautzen, Germany and Vienna, Austria
GERMAN ENGINEERING in the UK!
How may of flexity trams are in Blackpool
I think there’s 15 flexity trams in Blackpool
Maybe a bit to long, but interesting. :)
If you think that is too long. You should check out the Albatross Tram Gent :D
From those Trams you can say that they are LONG :P
Here you have a picture.

This isn't CAF?
No, it is Bombardier.
"Bombardier Transportation is a German"
WRONG! From their website:
"With 64 production and engineering sites in 26 countries and 19 service centres across the world, Bombardier Transportation is the global leader in the rail industry."
Germany is only one of 26 countries where Bombardier Transportation builds trains. If you're going to attach only one nationality to Bombardier Transportation, it would have to be Canadian.
When I whent too Blackpool I whent on a perple team it was going so fast I pooped and weed my pants
And I went to star city
Bombardier,French aircraft builders, dash 8turboes,this is slightly different ha
Not French, Canadian, albeit they bought various US and European manufacturers. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombardier_Transportation
Cheers dude ok thank you all the best.
Good. (He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.- Revelation 21:4)
👍
I wonder if they have trams in india however, not sure about the north pole
They have tadpoles in Calcutta. However they are pretty much first generation.
Kolkata not culcatta ,
Kolkata tram need to maintain or repair ....
This time India have a 11 city of metro and 25 city metro under construction..... Kolkata metro is a oldest metro system in India as well as tram..
This time Delhi metro have longest route system
Mono rail already running in Mumbai
Future projects:
Bullet train
Hyperloop train( almost 1200 km/h)
I'm sorry but I do not like the new trams! The old cream and green ones had character and were a symbol of Blackpool, just like the red Routemaster buses are a symbol of London!
These new trams are no different from what you see in places like Manchester or Sheffield. We want trams that are a symbol of Blackpool! If the old ones can't be brought back then at least design new double decker trams that look like the old ones just as the did with the new Routemasters in London.
As for the Bombardier trams... Send them to Sheffield or something, they spoil Blackpool!
I agree, Sheffield are getting a new tram in 2016 and it looks like Bombardier are set to be the new trams. At the moment they are made by Siemens. I think the Flexity's would be more in place in Sheffield. I am from Sheffield and have lived in Blackpool at the time the idea was proposed by Blackpool Council and was 16 YO and disgusted by it.
Same i like the old trams. the new trams are no interesting. However, Trains tops them all.
Agree
Just a paint job.
They should go back to horse drawn trams. We don't want a modern country.
Shiny
when indonesia have tram ?? i need tram like a belgia.
Munasa satyaanarayana
Why bring it by road?
Richard Woods
How else do you get it there from Germany, they’re not like the VW bug that can float
Because it’s impossible to transport them by train LOL
круто
+Mark popovic because blackpool is poor and can't afford to make them here anymore. I would know since I live there
Mmm - great - plastic always shows class ! I'm sure it's very efficient and all, but it's just horrible with absolutely no character or 'feel' about it at all, much like most of the trains now running. Sure it get's you there, but it's soul-less and sterile and just rubbish really. Sorry to be so negative - I just wish things where nice like they used to be lol
Nice looking tram. Hideous purple color. The double decker tram is truly UGLY. Get them off the streets
Well since that’s not going to happen… lol
Who gives a shit were it was made and what it looks like!!, why couldn't they have made it in Blackpool were the original trams were made! looks more like a high speed passenger train then a tram it wont last two mins once the slat gets into the electrics..
The 1930s streamlined trams were made in Loughborough and other tram makers were in Preston. Rebuilt in Blackpool over the years but not made there.
Like
Siemens the best!
Т-34 the Best!
No, King Tiger were the greatest!!!
It doesn’t really matter sense Siemens are not the only ones that know how to make great trams
Why do they make their trams so ugly.
Poor video quality at start
