I had a RX8 a while back, I remember thinking if I ever had to track that, first thing I would change is the synchro/transmission. It use to jump from a gear as well. And this was while it was brand new, sold it with less than 20000km. Handling and the Renesis is amazing and I miss it to this day.
Does anyone know if they’re alternatives being sold? Because I noticed launching from second or rev matching on a downshift the brass synchros tend to go.
That feeling when you just keep jamming it in gear and hear that awful grind and get kicked right back out of gear only to try again with the same result… horrible feeling. Happened to my ‘95 mustang gt /:
It's more than 250 kg lighter than stock, I'm using a Samsonas dogbox now, with very short ratios, fully adjustable race suspension, big AP brakes, so it's decent, even with the Renesis :)
Omfg! Had goosebumps only by the sound.. Awesomeness driving. Very good camera position and clear raw sound, without music and crap. Wish you the best buddy, rebuild it and drive it's shit out! Cheers!
my toyota corolla ee90 has the same problem..4th and 5th fcked up so much that I had to drive 60km/h on a highway and 20km/h on hill climb..I feel this pain
Suspension wise, I have full Hardrace arms in the back and in the front the upper arm is camber adjustable. 2 way BC racing coil-overs, with external reservoirs and adjustable whiteline anti-roll bars. I think I had around -1.5 deg. camber in the back and -1 in the front (but I usually change this every race, after measuring tire temperature differences with a temp. gun) and around 0.2 toe in in the back and 0.2 toe out in the front. Yokohama A005 soft, 235/17" with 1.6 bar at cold all around (will get to 2 bar hot, after 5km of hillclimb).
@@michaeldragos ok thanks, I also have all arms adjustable and I will set it up soon. I was expecting that you have more camber F+R. Thanks for sharing it!
@@jakethericer2169 : I've ran higher camber (e.g. -2.5 rear/ -2 front), but after measuring the tire sides with a temp gun, I've decided to lower it, since I was not using all tire surface in corners. Basically my suspension setup doesn't require so much camber.
The car is used for racing only. I used Motul 75W90, but the sincros will give away after 150 km. Anyways, I have a Samsonas dogbox now, you can see the details in one of my videos.
@@michaeldragos oil is not the problem, I will focus more on the left-hand movement of the left-hand gear lever and handbrake, something is poorly fixed or not rigid enough: poor guidance = gear shifting concerns and destruction of synchro!
@@julienh4283 In this setup, the gearbox is rigidly mounted via the PPF to the differential. Also, I'm using RR engine mounts, that are much more rigid than the stock ones. Also, for the rear subframe, I'm using Sikky aluminum mounts, so there is absolutely no rubber that could flex. You can see my other video for the current setup, where I'm using a Samsonas dogbox now.

@@miikaeatsbagels7320 If you're looking for a stronger gearbox, apparently the RX8 5 speeds are the strongest of the stock boxes.
That PHYSICALLY hurt

Big facts, same here 🤣
Thought it was just mine 🤣
I would be piss off too but it happened to my gearbox. Anyways. nice driving!

Man, what a car though
need more video about ur car . very nice driving.
I've never seen a hill climb Rx8 with a renesis in it lol

Thanks, right now I have a Samsonas dogbox gearbox and I'm swapping the engine to a 13B-REW (RX7 FD turbo). Should be fun :)

@@michaeldragos please post videos on the whole process, me and my buddies would greatly appreciate it! Working on getting parts for our own rew swap
Some transmissions can't last under a brutal beating
Unfortunately renesis transmissions can't handle daily driving 💀
This is some amazing driving. Aside from weight shedding, what has been done to the powertrain?
Large street port Renesis, AEM intake, IGN-1A coils.
Damn it that hurt my whole body
Suggestion, lower the camera slightly to improve visibility in left corners. Now the mirror is blocking the view
I feel your frustrations...... oh I would be furious lol
So what happened exactly?
The synchro ring gave up
It's flexing sooooo much
