This thing is a nostalgic blast from the past. These Droids were probably the 2nd best things about Phantom Menace, first being Darth Maul (that fight choreography and look was too amazing), so its nice to see a high-end figure of them after such a long time.
Hot toys is just awful with the timing of announcements, this figure should’ve been Announced last year and it would’ve released this year, right when the 25th celebration of phantom menace. Same thing with return of the Jedi Vader. They need to announce these figure one year prior to the anniversary year then it would’ve released in the anniversary year.
I remember a (featurette) documentary about the Droideka and recall a concept artist saying they only cheated a little bit in terms of the functionality of the droid. They only had a few elements clipping in the model when animating the transformation. It seems HT delivered on that aspect with a fully transformable Droideka. I had hoped for this droid and now my wish has come true. Instantly pre-ordered it last week as a Hot Toys droid only collector. It looks fantastic.
people hurriedly running to their front doors when this thing finally gets delivered will look like qui gon and obiwan using the "force run" to get away from these things ha ha...keep up the great critiques Justin!
Ohhhhh don’t give me hope to have a Padawan Kenobi, that would blow my mind and finally have all of the Kenobi figures. If they do that how about a 2.0 for Old Ben? That would be awesome. Nice video & Tnx Ryan for the awesome pics 💯
I guess it's only matter of time that general grievous will release someday... I mean they made battle droid and this one, why not grievous? It just... doesn't make any sense if they just skip him🥲I really hope we can see him within this year, but next year is highly likely
There’s no way we would have gotten a shield as an effect part. Not only would it charge up the price significantly, but the box housing it would need to be big enough to house an inflated beach ball. Shipping/distribution and manufacturing costs would probably not be worth it for them.
I mean the box already needs to encase the droideka itself, why not package it wearing the shield already. A translucent piece of plastic is not that expensive
@@JustinsCollection the droideka might already be seeing new packaging since it’s the first 1/6 Star Wars figure that’s engineered to compress itself to a ball. You may be right that it could be cheap to produce but allot of logistics still needs to go into it. How thick should it be? Will it distort or break during distribution as a result of excessive heat or mishandling? I’d imagine these were headaches they deliberately chose to avoid. You could also think of it as the first time hot toys providing a “display case” for their figure which brings up the question should they charge extra for that? They’re a business after all.

Always! I have a content plan for the next few months
@@JustinsCollection so do you want my help
perhaps use a blue tinted glass bowl upside-down for the shield, just an idea, you could see a glass maker?
True!

Grievous and a magnadroid are also high on my 'wanted' list. Fingers crossed for the 20th anniversary of RotS next year...
Yeah we need him!
