I only handled truck 🚛 driving for 3 years and opened a landscaping business and roofing company it was fun but I missed my family being away you are hardcore don't know how you and your brother do it money is great but I found landscaping pays me better but I do miss truck driving miss the people I met on the way
As a general rule of thumb, it's always better to over strap a load than it is to under strap. Less chance of getting harassed by DOT when you do that

At he start of you video I remembered when I was young, my dad had a cb in his pickup for our travel trailer, I never thought anything about it until he saw a semi driver he knew. On goes the radio, “Porta Potty here, rusty Dick, got your ears on?” 😮
If your truck ever slows like that again, check your speed limiter is not on. LIM + or - on the left side of your steering wheel with the cruise. Can be turned off using the same button as the cruise.

@23:23 I couldn't help but chuckle...you saying you'd both just checked your loads, yet The driver in-front had an obviously loose strap... which then proceeded to flap away down the road ahead :). still looked like plenty of straps to be secure, but make me chuckle :) & Most importantly he saw and dodged the Puppy! :)
I'm shocked the pup didn't bolt away from the road at the noise, vibrations and turbulent airflows you generate when passing... hope its okay :)

If you set the cruise control at 5 mph, you won’t accelerate until you disable that either by applying the brake or disabling cruise control. I noticed you had the cruise control on. Don’t know if that helps.

Yep. I noticed it was turned on at 21:01 in the video 😊 The cruise control light is illuminated just to the lower left side on the speedometer.
I went back and looked it wasn’t set for cruise it is white like that until you set the speed and it turns green.
Is that true in trucks? Never had a passenger vehicle that you could not override the cruise control speed by pressing on accelerator, pretty important safety feature to be able to pass by something merging into you

I remember the best hamburgers at a place in Hayti when I was a kid. It was in the early 80’s. Yellow building and there were a lot of trucks etc. I wish I could remember the name. Also I remember a place called the Hornets Nest in Holcomb Mo. really good ribs.

@@9erner 100% agree. It takes a special kind of person to live this lifestyle. I was dumb and got my CDL.. Haven't been home since.
I found a job where I leave Monday morning and would get home Friday night or early Saturday. Always had most of Saturday and all of Sunday off at home with the family. That was nice. I still got to drive around and still see my family every weekend. I still averaged $1600 - $1700 a week so I could pay all my bills.

Your should always leave one strap on just in case and it sounds like your truck went into lump mode lots of trucks do that mine does that when I gave bad gas in mine or if I’m running low on gas cos I drive a gas truck shame I can post pics on here to show u hun amazing vid as always

It's kinda weird you didn't check on the O/O you were running with when he pulled over. In person or at least on the radio.
He might have been a wierdo she was wanting to get away from. An 0/0 in a $10k truck with no flatbed or securement experience who was telling her to get her own authority, that is definitely wierd sounding. I have definitely felt like that before and I'm an over weight 50 year old white guy with nothing to lose. I wear no fear and come at me bro tshirts but I'm the first to run at the sound of an aggressive lap dogs bark!

Your derate to 5mph has something to do with the DEF system (after engine emissions issue)
actually @pauljohnston1057....you're partially correct. The derating occurs if and when you do not perform a "parked Regen" when called for.
When the circumstances don't allow the DPF-system to perform an "automatic Regen" (*), warning lights on the dash will indicate that a Regen be performed while the power-unit is parked (the warning light icon is akin to a stylist burst of air, with what appears like a clogged filter within).
Once this warning light activates, you should find a safe parking spot or a truck-stop to perform the required activity (word of advise: park as far as possible from the 'maddening crowd', as the parked Regen is a very noisy proposition, due to the engine's high-idling for 20 to 40 minutes....you don't want to park yourself between two OTR-combos, as you're likely to wake one or both drivers in the process)/
If you don't react to the warning light, it will start flashing (some truck/engine makes also emit a buzzing sound to "wake the driver out of his/her day-dreaming).
if you do not react to the flashing warning light, the engine will begin derating right down to those 5 mph you experienced. Word of caution: once the engine derates, you will also notice the red engine warning light will activate....if that happens, you'll have exactly 5 seconds time to initiate the "parked Regen", otherwise the engine will shut down! If that happens, the only way to become mobile again, is to have the power-unit towed to an identical truck or engine dealer; hook-up a laptop to its ECU, cancel all the codes and initiate a parked Regen through the laptop. However, do note that the towing & technician's costs will usually be charged to the driver or their employer, as these events are usually related to "driver stupidity" (no offence intended)...because the time-frame when the initial yellow "parked Regen" warning light activates, until the engine shuts off is usually between 2 and 2.5 hours.....meaning, if you do not monitor your gauges once within these up to 150 minutes......you deserve to pay the costs of getting you mobile again! ....Note re (*) above: A truck/tractor can only perform an automatic Regen when the following 3 parameters are met:
1) your engine temperature is at least 170 degrees F;
2) you operate in free-flowing traffic on the highway and...
3) your fuel-tank only contains ULSF, i.e. Ultra-Low Sulphur Fuel, which doesn't contain more than 15 parts per million (ppm) of Sulphur.
If any of these three parameters aren't met, or you only operated in urban areas with stop-and-go traffic all day, you'll be forced to perform a parked Regen.
(FYI, while the engine is in fact performing an automatic Regen, you will notice the H.E.S.T. (High Exhaust System Temperature) light lit on the dash. That icon also looks like a burst of air, butwithout the clogged-filter within it)
If you follow my instructions above, you should never incur a speed-derating anymore for the rest of the power-unit's or your natural life time ;-)
