Typical kumite nowadays, fekkng FIGHT will ya's, glorified tig game, 'you're it'!!! So glad karate will NOT be an olympic sport(!?) it's been destroyed enough with this type of competition fighting balls!!!
@@all-in-oneedits The only element I hate in this stage of Kumite evolution is the fact that after an attack that failed the opponents just grab each other sleeves. If a protective helmet with trasnsparent mask was introduced, they would have been able to deliver some close-combat techniques like uraken-uchi, mawashi-uchi. shuto-uchi, haito-uchi otoshi-uchi and so on. Those techinques are all filtered from Kumite and the disgraceful sleeve grabbing with the referee stopping the competition follows. The introduction of a full-faced helmet and the introduction of close-combat hits, counting 1/3 or 1/2 of the wasa-ari point ( according to their respective power ) would make Kumite more interesting and realistic.
The Olympics should switch to MMA and either Kickboxing or Muay Thai. At least the fighting would be realistic. If they want to stick with more traditional martial arts then Kyokushin would be much better than this.
There is no "realistic" since they all wear gloves. The fighting sports mentioned by you teach no element of self-preservation. They are a random exchange of blows.
@@catfood_03_4stray - the combat sports I mentioned are much more realistic than karate point fighting. I fought for the U.S. Team before the rules look the way they do today and switched to kickboxing and boxing so I am well aware of the differences for each combat sport. If self-preservation means knowing how to fight and not having your body go into shock once someone actually makes contact, then the combat sports I mentioned have more elements of self-preservation than karate point fighting.
@@mtmatt6111 The presumable endurance after the contact relies in the fact that the opponent wears gloves and it is by no means realistic. It is merely a free choise between different sets of rules. I aknowledge the weaknesses of this modern-traditional Karate, but no fighting sport can claim "realism".
@@catfood_03_4stray - If you prefer point fighting (especially under Olympic rules) because nothing other than a real street fight is "realistic" then happy training.
Rubbish, get on with it and fight.
Un kumite shiai médiocre. C'est un combat d'entraînement. l'arbitre central doit dynamiser le combat. Dommage??!😴

And why? Even if Kyokushin is a full-contact karate style, there is no head technic. You can't kick or punch on head. Is that realistic?
Looks like garbage and number 2 bullshit at same time.
