This was a fascinating topic to discuss and I really appreciated your examples. The MM one struck a chord with me because I often looked at LttP as an example of isolation as Link has no fairy/familiar guide and people are spread out and say very little, even more when he's made it to the Dark World. The idea of two worlds relying so heavily on some miracle, and it being this boy who's traipsing, lost, alone, through a murky mire and down the deepest depths of so many dungeons, alone, having already lost all he's known in his life.
Oh Alttp is a great example! Once he looses his uncle its hard to say if that link really has anyone left. Despite this, he still fights for his people. I did like that people were familiar with link in that world.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video! I think my favorite “isolation” video game is Metroid Prime, wish BioShock as a runner up. The Majora’s Mask argument is really interesting and I’ll admit that I rolled my eyes at first until you illustrated your points. I whole-heartedly agree with you now.
