i really like to see graham's interviews. it's so funny to see such a talented musician getting nervous, hahaa. but he is not weird, just shy. charactor is something that we can hardly change.
I know this comment was a while ago but still .... you'd be surprised how many performers (singers, actors etc) are incredibly shy in "real life". Graham could play guitar in his sleep, so he's going be comfortable in that situation, he's just doing his own thing. If you see him when he has to take the lead vocals on "Coffee and TV" or the chorus in "Tender" It's blatantly obvious he doesn't like being the centre of attention. He used alcohol to get him through gigs in Blur's earlier days
I was watching him getting interviwed at the awards, I was working there. And he really was there for fucking ages, possible the longest of all of them. no wonder he looks awkward, felt sorry for the fella
I think it's funny when he does that. It's definitely not to appear like he doesn't give a shit, cause he's a super hard worker that just gets intimidated and doesn't think he's all that. You saw in the interview he didn't know how to answer some questions with long responses, he's not your average rock star. He's different in a good way!
@Hughezy Are you a performer yourself? Because if playing guitar is something Graham's comfortable with he won't get nervous. I've played guitar and done a stand up comedy gig infront of an audience before, easy peasy. But once I'm put into a social situation I get really nervous. It could be the same with Graham, and many other performers. Different situations require different adaptations.
@hughezy do you mean that when people mess their hair, bite their lips, get confused, i.e. just being shy and awkward 'cause the situation makes them feel like it and they're just naturally timid and all, do you mean they are actually being indifferent to the public? just because they can't behave "normally" and "socially acceptable? does this make people arrogant or whatever? my god, this is just ridiculous! how can this even come to one's mind.
