This song needs to be preserved for eternity. One of the bests of Ilaiyaraaja and nothing else needs to be said about the music part. Acting - Manorama, K.R.Vijaya, and Saritha have done their parts very well and Saritha's acting is fabulous, even during the initial portions of the song. Having P.Susheela, S.Janaki and Rajeshwari in one song is splendid and grand and it can't get better than this. Last but not the least the lyrics themselves - extraordinary. one thing I observed.. Maestro brought in Three singers who had good range, able to sing any compositions are brought.The sankathis are difficult.The sankathis sung by Janaki calls for big range( top dhaivatam) and down to lower dhaivatham 2 octaves like Yesudas.very difficult. it fits well with voice of janaki suiting hi pitches.If you are talking abt Isaiarasi, there are many. MS, DK Pattamal. Suseela comes in for perfect rendition, clarity,pure tamil(d best ever) Janaki, modulation legend.

I remember there was a competition during my childhood days wherein they ask for the ragam, I mistook this as hindolam ragam :) Didnt realise then that the gandharam is different. But thats how I learnt this ragam . Dont know if there are other tamil songs composed in this unique ragam!
