  • After our lovely stay at Letaba, we made our way to Balule camp, stopping to book in at Olifants and to take the opportunity to take in the stunning view from the deck. This area is a special place to us as we got engaged here many years ago. We had hoped to get something to eat at the restaurant but discovered that it was under renovation, so we had a drink and took a leisurely drive to Balule. It was very hot and as a result we did not see much in the way of game on our drive down to the river.
When we arrived, we drove around the small camping area and chose a campsite on the fence line, although it was not under any shade we enjoyed the fact that we could see the resident hyenas as they patrolled the camp at supper time. We spent a lovely afternoon sitting in the communal green under the trees, reading and watching the birds. The birdlife at Balule was the most abundant of any of the camps we stayed at in Kruger.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and will definitely be back, for longer next time.
