Wow people seem to be freaking out over Gary's personality - this is how he always was on the show, and that is the charisma that made him and WLTV into "a thing" and what drives him still today. And about the whole "lack of respect" and interrupting her, jesus christ, he has nothing but respect for her, she is like one of his heroes. They are having a conversation, ping ponging, and he is picking her brain. If you want to hear her having a monologue tune into one of the 100 TV programs and appearances or read one of the 10.000 books she wrote. God, people seem to think she is bloody royalty or something.
Was looking at the Jancis website and her social media side and was thrilled to see her on Wine Library TV with Gary. Very fresh conversation with some fanatstic moments. I would love to see Gary work with her again.
Gary, I appreciate your passion toward the topic....I can also feel the weirdness shown on Jancis' face when you start to yell next to her when the camera starts to roll. It must have been a show she would have never experienced if it was not for you and your fans who watch you on a regular basis. I always thought Jancis was a legend, and I think it was a great idea for her to do this episode with you. I would love to see more MWs on the show, and with the last three episodes I watched myself (Jennifer Simonetta-Bryant, and the German MS) you definitely gained one more viewer, to say the least. She is such a lady and Gary...well he is Gary. I think he is a nice passionate guy, sometimes a bit too over excited but lovely chap. I don't think he talks as a douch bag as some people says.
i loved watching you (gary) as a star in the wine world, someone i would love to taste beside, and watching you taste beside janicis is just hilarious. as you draw comparisons and agree on facts, your face is just fun to watch feeling gratification. something i look forward to as a student of wine. jealous!
Yes this guy is a bit annoying, but if he appeals to people who are not Oenophiles, adn he helps spread understanding and appreciation of wine; then YES it was good of Jancis Robinson coming on the show.
In summary: this was the breakfast club of wine shows: Ms. nerd/pretty girl + Mr. sports/bad boy. The both need each other. Of course it was a good idea for Jancis to appear. Frankly, wine can use a little deconstruction and a little less blue blood which the host does wonderfully. The guest never once pushed back hard on anything he said. I really don't think the host believes in being stupid or non-informed. That's the part the guest brings and adds to: you can only have attitude if it can be backed up with knowledge when needed. His conversational style is not formal, but fluid and unforced. He doesn't write. She's got 20+ books. Okay, some people are naturally energized in social situations, and maybe he doesn't hate his job as much as the next guy and it shows. Possibly she could have used this Millburn, NJ opportunity to show the old country they can lighten up in a light environment, but she didn't exercise it. Her loss. Most importantly: what's the point of changing people and therefore what's the value in judging: they will both walk away the same personality. What's more important? The politics of keeping up appearances in a small club of wine nerds that's somewhat smaller than opera lovers? Or experience? The American way is experience. The American way is keep-it-real. Don't give it up. Be gracious to guests. They're guests. This one was special.
Love the information Jancis has contributed to the wine world, and her Oxford Companion to Wine. Also funny that she gave a shout to a Robert Mondavi Woodbridge Chardonnay, heheheh. She is a bit dry though in the show
and if may I add something.... have your minds OPEN ppl. Gary is great, Jancis is great, just different style (extremely different maybe?) but its not something "hate it or love it" ... at the end of the day, they encourage ppl to drink wine, to join te wine world and thats it... vayniacs and jancis fan will follow separatley and thats it. Its great u speak ur mind about Gary and im sure he read and pain attention, but....i think i made my point!

Mr. Vanerchuck, I'm not sure how you landed Jancis Robinson but good for you! To be honest I'm not sure I like you...I tuned in for Jancis (sorry man, the whole "sniffy sniff" things is too much for me) and I'm kind of warming up to the show. I think you need more guests on the show...people to settle you down. Like a form of human Ritalin for you. Tone it down...a little, and you'll have a loyal viewer from the world of wine in Hong Kong. -another dude in Hong Kong
Gary, its almost unfair to bring on a guest such as Jancis and not let her speak ! Her words are worth their weight in gold and its a shame that we, the viewers, couldn't learn much without her being constantly interrupted throughout the "interview".
Gary Vaynerchuk is the Joe Pesci of the wine world (personally, I find him obnoxious). This would have been a very interesting program had he not interrupted her so much. Is this program about your guest or you? Show some respect and allow her to talk. Why have guests if you want to do all the talking?
