  • Husaberg is a spin off from Husqvarna and Cagiva. Joel Smets won multiple word motocross championships with them. Many world enduro championships were won as well. This included ISDE. Originating from Sweden then ended up being owned by KTM in Austria.

I had an FE501E back in 1998. One of the riders in the enduro club was an engineer and an ex ISDT medalist. He was fascinated by the Husaberg. YZ400F's had not come out yet. The Husaberg was so far ahead of the other bikes at the time (XR400's etc) it was like an unfair advantage. I remember stalling in theis deep rut. No worries. Pull in the clutch, hit the starter button and launched out on the back wheel. Got the lap record on the short enduro course not really because I was the best rider. It was because the bike was so easy to ride.

Well, the name is not really the name of their hometown. It's a part just outside Askersund, which is the name of the town. The camping area, located there, is called Husaberg camping. It's on the right hand side, approaching Askersund from south. Nice place!

Spot on with Yamaha shouldn’t get the credit for the High Performance 4T. Everyone knew these Bergs were the real deal. Yamaha had the power to get into AMA racing with a top rider (Doug Henry) and make the 4T splash.

...it's peculiar that the AMA would bend the rules for Yamaha to allow a non-production bike to race in AMA motocross and supercross.

@@1969cmp in fairness there is a rule for it. What bugs me is you still can't race a 2T without a huge displacement disadvantage. They should at least allow 150s and 300s in the class... and even then they're damn near 10hp down.

I remember whatching Jimmy Eriksson at the Sixdays in Walldürn/Germany. We were totally blown away...and a few years later I owned a Husaberg myself. Its a shame what KTM does to all these "Names" like Husqvarna, Husaberg, GasGas...different Names and equal Bikes. But I understand that thes brands would have vanished long ago, if KTM didn't do so.

Husaberg never equipped there bikes with Mikunk carbs. They started with Dellorto carbs and from 2004 MY they used Keihin carbs. But it is not a big deal to convert, I always equipped my old Bergs with keihin carbs which makes them much more reliable.
