Beautiful😍 bike tm👍
I believe if Honda actually put a 1974 spec CR 125 back into production for the VMX movement they would sell many more than they thought possible because what I remember from back then they were super light simple and bloody well summed up with this phrase "Fast and Fun" something that seems to be missing in so many ways these days. I see Tradies buying KLX 110's and the smart ones buying KLX 140's and these guys are in their 20's because they are fun to goof around on and the original CR 125 was exactly that and you could race it competively too for minimal cost. There is a market for that Honda as like so many modern Companies you seem to have forgotten Make it Fun and they will come because we are in a crisis where we lack incoming younger riders, Honda of all people should and do know that because they have the new model Monkey bikes that are very popular with younger riders the Industry has to remember that Cars were not as easy to buy back then and Bikes were atainable. So for the Industry I implore you guys and gals remember make it Fun and they will come for that is where the future lies Bikes are no longer a cheap alternative to Car ownership so go back in time reduce the cost of manufacturing allow people to develop skills and work around the shortcomings of older designs and have a sense of achievement and realise Life can be FUN with older designs revisited.
That there is a unicorn! I’m insanely jealous! SUCH a collector’s item.
Joel Smets is a big bike mx legend, a super champ 5 times world mxgp champion
They also ran Ossa engines for their 250cc bikes
Nice ones in there. Did I see a Montessa hiding in there?
@mgrove8840 yes. A couple

Beautiful bike!
mid 1980s i bought a KDX500 of the foreman at work in Ringwood Melbourne ,it was fully road registered and the fella i bought it from only had it for a couple years as he was getting married ,ive told a few fellas about it and they all call bulldust as i have no photos of it ,to be honest i didnt care to much for it as it was a truly awful bike on the bitumen and i only used it a few times off road ,air cooled front disc brake and vin plate for full road registration ,was badged a KDX500 but beneath that id say it was 99 percent KX ,he told me he bought it brand new off a dealer in Ferntree Gully or Boronia maybe 1982/83 ,i ended up getting tired off mixing two stroke at the servo and stuffing up the ratio which caused the plug to foul ,the FKN kickbacks were a ankle breaker and the neighbours got upset when i started it up to go to work in the mornings ,it took 5 minutes to warm it up ,it was either bogging or flat stick ,i ended up swapping it for a XLX 250 Honda which was more suited to the road ,do you or your subscribers know anything about this model KDX ,was it a Kawasaki Australia bike with low sales or a dealer bike ?
@@Tonyclifton-q4f I will see what I can find out
Did you know that Honda copy mako back in the early eighties and tried to replicate the 1981 for 90 mako and never could
I bought one of these when I was 16 in 1988. It was an absolute beast.
You,s have got the best looking track ive seen in a long time! I might have to move to Toowoomba 😆
Good stuff john had a blast racing yesterday. Thanks for uploading
The Photos of the 1966 and 1968 bikes are two strokes. As I recall Aermacchi won championships with two strokes .
owned a 1984 Cagiva 125, no power valve. Made HP like a light switch.... Owned 3 cagiva 500's. They didn't have that problem. And a Moto Morini 501 Camel. A nice dual sport V twin. You don't see many V Twin dual sports.
Awesome video mate, great to see the DT scene growing! Exciting times ahead for all dirt trail enthusiasts. Keep the passion alive! 🏍️🌲 #DirtTrailMoto
Thanks mate for that but now I’m feeling old!

Bloke good effort would have shared. But FFS? lose the generator man😅
Single ring piston only year and the most power supposedly lol
Gotta love the old Husky two-strokes, the Husky’s from the early 70’s to the early 80’s were the best I tell ya, fast and reliable! 👍
Husaberg aint coming back swedes tried new brand husagren and it went bust.
@okok-gg5fl KTM won't do anything with it. Would be nice though.
Fascinating interview, such dreadful sound I’ve missed a good deal of it!
@mrethicpreneur7510 yes. Sorry about that.
What a great looking machine, hard to believe its 45 years old
Wana sell it lol it original piston with single ring
@@BBb-t5h don't think he would.
when I was a teenager living at home I bought a used Husky '74 WR 250 changed the original carb with a Mikuni unit and rode it all around open areas in Connecticut and New York - it was bullet proof and I thought I was too - thumbs up
@user-sj9ru3et2z the mikuni would of made a would of difference
Malcolm dearne came second in the 1974 mr motocross on the same bike but a 360, had some problems along the way with it tightening up but to come second against trevor flood on his cantilever yamaha 360. Hans applegren rode the same bike husky 400 but didnt come in top 10 Great job

Gold rims and swing arm wonder why didn't carry on that , the linkage at top is like a 1800 s beam engine steam pump wonder if Kawasaki had to pay anyone who owned patents design
Would be very curious Rogers RM 370 76-77 works bike , how it would compare to this hulk of a green piece of engineering "Advancement " 🤔
the #21 bike in the photo is Jimmy Weinert on a KX/SR 250cc at the Oakland Ca. USA supercross. They used sand dredged from the bay to make the track and if you look closely you will see a sand paddle tire mounted on the rear. Weinert was the only rider to use this tire and he dominated the race. Soon thereafter the AMA 'outlawed" paddle tires.
@@LBrawn thanks for the input
Lackeys 1979 GP works bike was a 390cc and had the UNI TRAK
Mr Motocross Glenn Bell 👍 I've still got an XRs Only Big Fin Ballards XR630 - Id love to make it into a Glenn Bell Thumper Nats Replica - Just found a '98 YZ400f the bike that Unfortunately Killed 2 stroke MX & Thumper Nats
Beautiful!???????
Cool 👍
That's not the same model that broke in two on the main straight jump at Amaroo during a Mr Moto-Cross events was it? (with Bill (?) McCulloch on board).
@@graemesydney38 don't think so. Wasn't that a production bike
Whoops, I think it was Graham McCulloch - brother Bill was a handy Road Racer.
@@johnsmotorcyclemania7039 I'm not certain but I think it was a works bike. I'm not certain of the year either, but I remember the crash - high speed and nasty. I'm pretty sure he was riding for Kawasaki Australia. IIRC it was a career ending injury (broken back ??? - not permanent but broken vertebrae ???)
WOW, that's a rare and awesome motorcycle
87s look so good
my child hood legend!
two icons of Aussie MX still standing strong; the XR600 were a very under-rated bike in my opinion; sure, they weren't the lightest or the most nimble to throw around but they had that awesome motor that did what it did without fuss or complaint and surprised many on later model 4st MX'ers; am i correct that this XR630 also had a 3 speed gearbox?; love to see the version Geoff and Co built with the CR swing arm and shock; as for holeshots against Glen, well i believe some guy on an '04 KTM300 got a holeshot against him at Dark Corner MX track NSW at an event ran by Oyster Bay M/C in 2005; that guy may or may not have been me who led an entire field of A Graders for about 3 corners! i was racing Over35's with OBMCC at the time and finished dead last after a big endo over the finish line jump. i should of adjusted the rear brake pedal height from enduro mode!
Alan West from NZ built one in the early days and raced it in the international 6 days trials overseas for a few years. I think his was a 175 bored out to 223cc ? Then he did a 500 in a CR frame. He set up Alan West Honda in 1980 in Coffs Harbour after that.
Time for a Honda to bring back the XR 650 hour and make it an XR 700 hour with the latest technology
Always have been always will be a thumper fan. Thanks for sharing.
Glenn Bell is a good guy
In 88 I built a Al Baker XR280 with WP suspension and raced enduros for several years with it and it was a fantastic bike, same engine design as the 600 with many of the same mods, 11:1 compression, Mugen cam, ported head with extended cooling fins, Carillo rod, Mikuni 34mm flatslide carb, White Bros exhaust and it ripped, keep the valves adjusted and change the cam chain , they would stretch over time, and the RFVC engine would run forever.
