Ok, a bit of a hot take here, but my theory on why queen looks so much like the spade family is because she is not just any computer program, but the solitaire program that all computers come preinstalled with, therefore she takes the form of a virtual queen of spades.
at the end of the chapter king IS claiming to know queen, so maybe all dark world leaders are connected? (Side note: when king and queen talk they address themselves by nicknames, so maybe they are family?)
One of the more underrated parts of Queen that many people seem to overlook is the fact that she's very competent. She may be extremely goofy, but she's definitely not stupid. The King seeks revenge against the Lightners and sends his minions to dispose of them while he secures his Dark Fountain. Meanwhile, the Queen immediately seizes the opportunity to make more Dark Fountains and expand her supreme empire to make up for the ground she's lost from the Internet outage. She captures Noelle, emotionally manipulates Berdly, and even tries to get the protagonists to stay permanently in their rooms by filling them with things she's gleaned from their Internet search history. She also sabotages Berdly's plan to rescue Noelle and has her GIANT FREAKING ROBOT as backup! We know that she has the robot planned from the very beginning, since her Swatchlings can be seen clearing the streets for "something big," which would be the giant robot fight at the end of the chapter. Without their own robot, the Lightners would've been DEAD, and the Queen would've won, forcing Noelle to cover the world in Darkness. She was able to formulate this plan by observing the Knight and making logical conclusions based on his actions, demonstrating a very acute perceptive ability. Unfortunately, this side of Queen is often overshadowed by her goofy side, which makes most people think she's nothing more than a meme. That's a shame, because she's legitimately a good character in this area too. As much as I love her absolutely hilarious memeiness, I wish Toby toned it down just a little, so that the Queen's tactical side could be more clearly emphasized.
I agree. However I think the reason why the Queen is so comical is how she is the perfect embodiment of the internet's capability to be such a powerful, smart and unstoppable force but most of the time it's filled with memes and used for escapism making it seem like weird place but when shit needs to be done the internet will get shit done which doesn't happen a lot or not a lot of attention gets drawn to moments like that.

I think chapter 3 will be a bit darker than 2 for the simple reason that Toriel and Undyne will be our lighteners aside from Susie and Kris. These aren't children seeing the darkworld for the first time, these are adults, with adult issues and fears. So chapter 3 will have a more adult theme. Also I told Undyne about the Darkworld in both chapters and so now she has to believe me

I feel like both this theme and Chaos King perfectly describe the characters they're associated with. Chaos King pits you against a remorseless King devout to his cause. One that threatened to drop his own son off of his castle, just as a means to make the Lightners submit to his demand. The Queen's theme is somewhat...lighthearted? Queen's devout to the cause too, but nowhere near as much as King is. It has that...electronic vibe to it, which fits perfectly with her domain being centered around technology. You can tell she actually cares about her subjects due to how she converses with Noelle. Both Queen and King are stupidly funny and adorable together, of course.
There's this rule of Toby's stories, that the more you interact with 'serious antagonist' characters the more goofy they become (or were fron the start in other cases). Hence King was barely seen and was 'evil' and 'serious', and Queen was ever present, and encountered constantly (ala Papyrus and Mettaton) and were comedy gold. Who were more than happy to be friends by the end.

@@TheAlmightyGream Nah, I think its a reference to how the characters are incorporated into the bosses, lancer was one of the only people to trust Sir Chaos Kington the 3rd yet thine waseth betrayed by Thine that was Cherishethed. And Berdly, who sout the same goals as the Queen yet was challenged and betrayed like the slave to technology he shall soon be. Both subjects were betrayed by those who we fight, keep an eye out for the next likeable characters theme, for they may be the next to be heard in the next bosseth.
Reasons why the Queen is the best: Loving and caring to certain extend, even if she pretends not, look at how she grew fond of Noelle. Entertaining as hell. God like battle theme Sassy, lovable attitude. Safe to say she stole the whole chapter On top of her game every appereance. Huge charisma Over the top reactions Totally Awesome.
I love how both rulers so far have their themes deeply integrated into their boss fights The King and his deck of cards The Queen with the internet (she starts drama and gets cancelled in one of her attacks which is glorious) I'm so excited to see what the future bosses have for us in store!
I think it will be probably food, because the king was the games from school (chess, cards etc) and the queen was the computer of the library. The other buildins in the city (the ones that got locked places), is the tow hall (High chance,), the church, the restaurants/convenience (food) and the flower shop.
It’s such a damn shame Etika will never get to experience the rest of this game. He was so hyped and staying on top of all the information coming out about this game. I’m sure he would’ve loved this song and the others. I guess at the end of the day death is certain and life is not. May God rest his soul.
I love how, despite Queen's theme being constantly present through the entire chapter, it still sounds "fresh" in this particular track and doesen't feel stale or boring.

...Everyone's _always_ talking about how funny, charming and caring Queen is, but no-one is talking about what she actually wants for the Lightners: _Escapism._ She pretty much says it herself in her fight. Every day, people use the internet to flee from the outside world, to hide from the pain in reality, to free themselves from any burdens. But now that the internet went out, Queen saw how everyone will begin to suffer, not able to cope with the stress. And so, with an entire reality to herself, she plans to spread it globally, to make sure no-one will ever have to feel these anxieties again... ...Though she had no knowledge of the destruction it would cause. Escapism... ...It's something I personally struggle with.
Same, those plans of hers made me really fond of her even more, before i loved her due her comedy, but her intentions are truly pure, and ngl, i'd love the world she wants to create, even if that can't or shouldn't be a reality, all i gotta say is, HAIL THE QUEEN
I'd argue the entire theme of Deltarune is escapism. Just look at the lightners. Kris has devorced parents, Susie is seen as an outcast by everyone, Noelle's father is terminally ill, her sister is dead and her mother is "hard on her" according to Rudy and even Birdly has to live with the constant pressure of being top of his class (being expected to perform perfectly in school constantly isn't as much of a joke as people would think considering that Birdly is mostly a joke character). Now give these kids a place to escape from their problems for a while. Obviously they would want to stay there forever, but they have to return to reality at some point. One could argue that (while everything that happens in Deltarune actually does happen) the Dark World is a metaphor for the imagination of young teens and the darker elements are simply a representation of how their minds are influenced by what happend in real life, especially in Kris and Noelle's cases. Of course, I am aware that things like snowgrave and Kris' whole "ripping out the players soul and creating a dark fountain" thing make this a massive stretch but it's still fun to think about imo
so, my opnion about this song is that it depicts the motivation of the queen towards her goal, but also the regret, because she enjoyed her time with the rest of the party and kris, but she wont give up on her ultimate plan to make those around her happy
I do like how Chapter 2 painted the King to be less of a heartless villain than we thought he was. We saw him as a caring father, while he’s a total grouch and sore loser, he’s not really evil deep down
I loved how King pointed out that Lancer actually LIKES being dropped because he’ll bounce… And then later asks Queen to bounce Lancer. It puts his actions in chapter 1 in a new light. He’s still horrible both as a ruler and a parent, but at least he does care about his son and never was trying to put him in serious harm.
The way the King and Queen react to each other is nice. They show affection through snarky and sarcastic remarks but you can tell they do love one another. Also...I see where Lancer gets his humor and most of his personality from.
In chapter 1, Jevil mentions the queen in his dialogue if you don’t have his key, which means Jevil can go between dark worlds. This probably means something to the overall lore of the game
This also could mean that each secret boss will give secret hints to the next big bad. Spamton talks about a guy named "mike" in the tv, and next chapter will probably be a tv world, so take that as you will.

Queen was a very likeable villain. She had comedy and she sometimes had fun events while talking to her. She even had fun bossfights! Overall an awesome villain to a very cool chapter in Deltarune ;)
I think one of my favorite parts about the themes in DELTARUNE is how subtly connected they are to Undertale themes, its not only impressive but also nostalgic at the same time.
There is also the track “Field of Hopes and Dreams” which literally samples from what you think it samples, but that track itself is further referenced in “The World Revolving” so I guess it’s still an example but not there.
I haven’t played Chapter 2 yet, but I did see a friend continue his pacifist run in Chapter 2 fully. Only thing I’ll say regarding it for those who haven’t played is that it’s longer than chapter 1 by a long shot! EDIT: Damn I’ve never got this many likes(thank you btw), but yes, I should’ve said [[BIG SHOT]]
Oh by far... I played it the second it released, and my god, I was hoping it was gonna be longer, and I wasn't disappointed... I can already tell this game is going to be so much more longer than Undertale... And better in my opinion. Better fighting mechanics, better music (in my opinion), better visuals, better animation... As Toby's most anticipated and biggest project, I'm proud of the work he has done so far for this game...

The impression I got was that they knew each other with Queen being the one who convinced King to usurp the other rulers and take over his dark world, but Queen’s not related to Lancer at all.

I went into chapter 2 thinking it would be just a few hours like chapter 1, then my friend reminded me i had been streaming the game in a discord call for like 5-6 hours
honestly, this whole game feels like its been inspired by Mario and Luigi RPG series in terms of how expressive the characters are and the atmosphere of the worlds. the pacing also feels similar, but thats a more subtle similarity.
The drama attack is so terribly accurate that it conflicts me. This chapter will probably be held on to as the best... during our generation. After that, it will be an encrypted mystery for the people to come.

Same, but that’s completely intentional on the developers’ part. Queen’s role in chapter 2 basically combines the parts of both King and Lancer from chapter 1. She’s the main antagonist, but also the quirky and funny and eventually sympathetic recurring foe you get to know and love. I expect the villain for chapter 3 will be completely different from both King and Queen. For example, it could be someone who isn’t revealed as the villain until late in the story, since King and Queen were set up as the main villains right at the start of their chapters.

I’d say King and Queen are more similar than we think. King’s just really pissed off he’s been ignored for a long time, he probably had a very Lancer type mindset before he was abandoned. Queen is used more often so she doesn’t get the same type of development. They’re both deceivers and use a peon to go through with their plans. They both were visited and were changed by The Knight (or a Knight given the ending). Only real difference is the King sticks with his philosophy partially while Queen moderately changes hers? Seems more like she went nuts due to wanting to do her duty as the internet in an overprotective manner.

I freaking love the electric attack the werewires do, and the sizzling sound effect it makes, idgaf if I get hit because I suck dodging it, I just really appreciate the coolness of the animation and effects every time they do it xD This new chapter not only has vastly better animation and effects than Undertale, I'd say it surpassed Chapter 1 as well. If this keeps up the full game is going to blow our collective minds. I have faith in Toby and his team! Just got to wait :)
I love how this theme has kind of a sad undertone to it Throughout the whole game Queen is extremely laid back about her whole "world domination" plan, she almost becomes a friend to the player. The worst thing she ever does is try to take Noelle away or threat to damage Berdly (which was a straight up lie). However, she's very much still willing to make her plan come to fruition. When it finally comes to the point where you are forced to fight Queen, it feels like she's not playing around anymore. You have to take her down, full stop. Hell, even her sprite is no longer smiling, she clearly just wants to get this over with already. To be fair, it even reminds me of how Toriel makes you fight her if you want to progress. Queen has this "laid back mother" vibe to her, which makes it hit a lot harder when she's finally confronting you directly to stop you from progressing.
technically she doesnt threaten to damage berdly, probably because if she did then her eyes would show "LYING" all she said was that if noelle didnt come with her, a certain bird would take a dip in the acid river, but she was actually just talking about the boat
This track has been stuck in my head since I played the game the day after it launched. To me, it's even catchier than Big Shot. Other music I whistle turns into this track partway through. I can't whistle Berdly's fight theme because it turns into this almost immediately.

I feel like there is a trend with these ruler darker fight themes, they’re really good, climatic, and they make the battles way more epic then without, this and chaos king are probably the songs I remember most that are played only for one battle with the exception of world revolving which is everywhere so of course I remember it.

I like the tragic feeling this theme has to it. Like an ironic tragedy. Queen was always talking about how she wanted to make the Lightners happy, but was completely led astray on how to accomplish that, practically manipulated. I also find it strange that compared to King, Queen was a lot more receptive to Mercy. Honestly the whole chapter kinda threw me off because unlike the previous chapter, your choices did actually make a big difference in the story. Sure it ended with the same result, but the characters go through much different realizations and growths. It makes me wonder if each chapter is going to do something different with the spare and fight system. Maybe perhaps fighting in one chapter is actually the 'nicer' path. or taking a neutral stance (not perfect pacifist or 'genocide') is the 'morally correct' choice. It certainly seems like Toby is playing around with what is actually right and wrong in Deltarune and making it more complicated, unlike Undertale where it's obvious what the 'right' and 'wrong' choices are.

I feel like both this theme and Chaos King perfectly describe the characters they're associated with.
Chaos King pits you against a remorseless King devout to his cause. One that threatened to drop his own son off of his castle, just as a means to make the Lightners submit to his demand.
The Queen's theme is somewhat...lighthearted? Queen's devout to the cause too, but nowhere near as much as King is. It has that...electronic vibe to it, which fits perfectly with her domain being centered around technology. You can tell she actually cares about her subjects due to how she converses with Noelle.
Both Queen and King are stupidly funny and adorable together, of course.
And apparently, even though the king threatened to drop his son, apparently if Lancer did drop, he'd just bounce off the ground lmao.
"DO NOT SPEAK ILL OF THE ROYAL WATER BOTTLE!" has to be one of my favorite lines from King and Queen's interaction.

There's this rule of Toby's stories, that the more you interact with 'serious antagonist' characters the more goofy they become (or were fron the start in other cases).
Hence King was barely seen and was 'evil' and 'serious', and Queen was ever present, and encountered constantly (ala Papyrus and Mettaton) and were comedy gold. Who were more than happy to be friends by the end.

Both subjects were betrayed by those who we fight, keep an eye out for the next likeable characters theme, for they may be the next to be heard in the next bosseth.

I love how, despite Queen's theme being constantly present through the entire chapter, it still sounds "fresh" in this particular track and doesen't feel stale or boring.

She pretty much says it herself in her fight.

But now that the internet went out, Queen saw how everyone will begin to suffer, not able to cope with the stress.
And so, with an entire reality to herself, she plans to spread it globally, to make sure no-one will ever have to feel these anxieties again...

I'd argue the entire theme of Deltarune is escapism. Just look at the lightners. Kris has devorced parents, Susie is seen as an outcast by everyone, Noelle's father is terminally ill, her sister is dead and her mother is "hard on her" according to Rudy and even Birdly has to live with the constant pressure of being top of his class (being expected to perform perfectly in school constantly isn't as much of a joke as people would think considering that Birdly is mostly a joke character). Now give these kids a place to escape from their problems for a while. Obviously they would want to stay there forever, but they have to return to reality at some point. One could argue that (while everything that happens in Deltarune actually does happen) the Dark World is a metaphor for the imagination of young teens and the darker elements are simply a representation of how their minds are influenced by what happend in real life, especially in Kris and Noelle's cases. Of course, I am aware that things like snowgrave and Kris' whole "ripping out the players soul and creating a dark fountain" thing make this a massive stretch but it's still fun to think about imo
so, my opnion about this song is that it depicts the motivation of the queen towards her goal, but also the regret, because she enjoyed her time with the rest of the party and kris, but she wont give up on her ultimate plan to make those around her happy
I do like how Chapter 2 painted the King to be less of a heartless villain than we thought he was. We saw him as a caring father, while he’s a total grouch and sore loser, he’s not really evil deep down
The real question is whether he knew about the Roaring or not. Queen didn't, so I assume King didn't either, judging from his boss dialogue.
Maybe being in jail is starting to make him realise his evil ways
I loved how King pointed out that Lancer actually LIKES being dropped because he’ll bounce… And then later asks Queen to bounce Lancer.
It puts his actions in chapter 1 in a new light. He’s still horrible both as a ruler and a parent, but at least he does care about his son and never was trying to put him in serious harm.
He was just a grief vessel, trying to create a world only for shadows as the lightners “abandoned” them.

The way the King and Queen react to each other is nice. They show affection through snarky and sarcastic remarks but you can tell they do love one another.

This also could mean that each secret boss will give secret hints to the next big bad. Spamton talks about a guy named "mike" in the tv, and next chapter will probably be a tv world, so take that as you will.

Queen was a very likeable villain. She had comedy and she sometimes had fun events while talking to her. She even had fun bossfights! Overall an awesome villain to a very cool chapter in Deltarune ;)
I think one of my favorite parts about the themes in DELTARUNE is how subtly connected they are to Undertale themes, its not only impressive but also nostalgic at the same time.

Oh by far... I played it the second it released, and my god, I was hoping it was gonna be longer, and I wasn't disappointed... I can already tell this game is going to be so much more longer than Undertale... And better in my opinion. Better fighting mechanics, better music (in my opinion), better visuals, better animation... As Toby's most anticipated and biggest project, I'm proud of the work he has done so far for this game...

honestly, this whole game feels like its been inspired by Mario and Luigi RPG series in terms of how expressive the characters are and the atmosphere of the worlds. the pacing also feels similar, but thats a more subtle similarity.

Same, but that’s completely intentional on the developers’ part. Queen’s role in chapter 2 basically combines the parts of both King and Lancer from chapter 1. She’s the main antagonist, but also the quirky and funny and eventually sympathetic recurring foe you get to know and love.
I expect the villain for chapter 3 will be completely different from both King and Queen. For example, it could be someone who isn’t revealed as the villain until late in the story, since King and Queen were set up as the main villains right at the start of their chapters.

Loved the fact that you pretty much just play Punchout for your fights against her.
I’d say King and Queen are more similar than we think. King’s just really pissed off he’s been ignored for a long time, he probably had a very Lancer type mindset before he was abandoned. Queen is used more often so she doesn’t get the same type of development. They’re both deceivers and use a peon to go through with their plans. They both were visited and were changed by The Knight (or a Knight given the ending). Only real difference is the King sticks with his philosophy partially while Queen moderately changes hers? Seems more like she went nuts due to wanting to do her duty as the internet in an overprotective manner.
Queen never met the Knight.
I just realised the Queen's combat theme melody is the one of his main theme sped up, god Toby fox can take any song and completely transform it into another banger

I love how this theme has kind of a sad undertone to it
Throughout the whole game Queen is extremely laid back about her whole "world domination" plan, she almost becomes a friend to the player. The worst thing she ever does is try to take Noelle away or threat to damage Berdly (which was a straight up lie).
However, she's very much still willing to make her plan come to fruition. When it finally comes to the point where you are forced to fight Queen, it feels like she's not playing around anymore. You have to take her down, full stop. Hell, even her sprite is no longer smiling, she clearly just wants to get this over with already.
To be fair, it even reminds me of how Toriel makes you fight her if you want to progress. Queen has this "laid back mother" vibe to her, which makes it hit a lot harder when she's finally confronting you directly to stop you from progressing.

I feel like there is a trend with these ruler darker fight themes, they’re really good, climatic, and they make the battles way more epic then without, this and chaos king are probably the songs I remember most that are played only for one battle with the exception of world revolving which is everywhere so of course I remember it.
The internet loves the character whose entire personality is based around the internet’s anomalous collective face…

Ok I LOVE how MUCH this music FITS her !! Toby I'd just a legend , lancers theme was funny and amazingly fits him , King was dark and dead , like himself , Queen's is electronic , stupid and funny , yet SUCH a banger , Susie's was a perfectly fitting guitar music , Betsy's theme was really reflecting him wanting to look like a nerd and be smart

The gameplay of deltarune chapt. 2 that i found unexpected is that every unexpected stuff explodes for no reason like that one door on the mansion

Props for Berdly for his damn confusing attacks to be why I lost this fight.
I like the tragic feeling this theme has to it. Like an ironic tragedy. Queen was always talking about how she wanted to make the Lightners happy, but was completely led astray on how to accomplish that, practically manipulated. I also find it strange that compared to King, Queen was a lot more receptive to Mercy. Honestly the whole chapter kinda threw me off because unlike the previous chapter, your choices did actually make a big difference in the story. Sure it ended with the same result, but the characters go through much different realizations and growths. It makes me wonder if each chapter is going to do something different with the spare and fight system. Maybe perhaps fighting in one chapter is actually the 'nicer' path. or taking a neutral stance (not perfect pacifist or 'genocide') is the 'morally correct' choice. It certainly seems like Toby is playing around with what is actually right and wrong in Deltarune and making it more complicated, unlike Undertale where it's obvious what the 'right' and 'wrong' choices are.
I do hope we have more villainious foes in later chapters, like say...the mysterious Mike
