Just a little suggestion, and first off, hat's off for getting in there and giving it a go. I would suggest you watch a few videos on soldering technique. It did clearly work this time but your solder joints are a bit dodgy if might be so bold as to say. The problem with a bad solder joint (like where you have soldered the main power wires to the battery) is that even if it looks ok when you do it, the structure of the joint will be poor and will be prone to failure down the track. For a vehicle like a scooter you really want to make sure you don't have any cold solder joints (where the wire moves as the solder cools from a liquid to a solid). Sorry for being pedantic but I think in a vehicle that your ride, you want to make sure your are safe!

a trick on desoldering fuses or any multi pad SMD/Through hole. solder a bare copper wire across the fuse ends, then just heat the wire in the middle and both ends solder pads will melt and you can flick it off. Even works with 20 pad inline switches. Good job for not being afraid to try and repair something.

first off nice work for a newbie , I think your a natural , anyways the reading of 3.7 is not coming from your main battery, that 3.5 is a back up battery its there for GPS, if your model has GPS or not ,it will have that back up batter , and that back up battery is direct you cant shut it off its a low drain … so its like a Cmos battery they last forever . and if you would have wanted to test for the complete voltage you have to pushed the power button on while having your tester connected to the R/B wires. After that you get the 3.7 plus what ever the main battery's voltage would be … that's only if the fuse isn't blown , but you will always see the 3.1 -3.7 because their is no on and off or no fuse placed in line for the back up .. hope you understood my explanation, sorry I'm dyslexic, so for me this comment took about an hour of struggle.

I have same problem like you at 13:30 minute, so you have after fuse repair 3.7V, after you make a pause and after you battery work well. I weld new fuse and made bms reset. Connect the connector to battery and all the same 3.7V. How do you solve this problem ?

  • @WertzOne
    @WertzOne 3 роки тому +3

Lead-free solder is a pain to solder with cheap irons, also you need to apply flux to solder and it also helps with de-soldering since it helps to distribute the heat to the board and makes the melted solder stick firmly to the iron tip and that also helps with heat transfer.

    I don't know much about
    E scooters BMS boards.
But I would think they would all read lower voltage like 3 to 9v from the discharge wires.
Because needs to be turned on by connecting the other 4 wires to the scooter wire harness.
Where a switch should turns it on.

Change the setting on multimeter down to 20 DC. that way when you re check battery voltage if it is indeed 3.7 volts the meter will stay at 3.7 volt. However if it is 37 volts your meter display will show a line of 0000000 or something indicating your measured voltage has exceeded the selected range. Without finishingthe video i am sure the multimeter is correct in it's decimal placement and you've got a soldered terminal on that battery pack loose. One of the series terminals? Yes, run around and probe lots of terminals like everywhere the BMS red thin wires connect. youll find 1 large terminal loose and only thru the BMS your making connection.

Maybe a new circuit board if China can understand or fulfill request. I'd reluctantly try next bigger fuse, but not recommended as Lipo or Lifo can be dangerous. There's enough shared problem to at least start a UA-cam community and approach Xiaomi collectively. Use your combined views or subscription rates to amplify response.

I left my scooter on the balcony for 6 month without using it or charge it. when I tried to charge it it didn't take power and the light of the charger remains green. now I have checked the battery and there is no light blinking red or blue. took the battery out but it seems all the connections are okay. the voltmetre reads 2.5 only. I checked also the Z fuse and is alright. Everything seem alright and in place but the battery does not charge.
can anyone give me a suggestion what to do to solv this?

I had the same problem. Wouldn't turn on, battery gave 41V on the battery itself, but 3.7 at the cable from the BMS... after pushing the reset button on the BMS, readings are 41V also on the cable from the BMS and the scooter turns on again. Didn't need to replace the fuse. So i suggest pressing the reset button first :-)

Hey Geeky Stuff. I had a similar problem with mine. My output leads said 20v, not 3v. (I'm based in Australia and almost no one has these here.) I also found the Spanish forum that explains the problem, and worked out how to solder a shunt in the fuse spot. Now I have 40v out of the battery, but it still will not turn on.

If you ever need to replace the fuse again. First ad some lead based solder to the contacts. It makes de soldering a lot easier. And lead based solder. Has more to give in the sense of vibration.

Hi everyone, I have received my scooter and it doesn't work at all since the beginning. I have never used it and it's brand new.
It doesn't turn on in any way and the battery doesn't charge at all. The light on the charger remains green, it never turns red.
I opened the bottom part and followed the instructions on this video and others I saw.
When I plug in the wire to the battery, inside the battery I can see the red light flashing only 4 times. After 4 times it stops blinking.
I saw the connections on the battery and they seemed well fused on it. No one is moving.
What do you think it could be the problem? I thought about something about the battery that doesn't work properly.
    Can someone help me?

Just awful soldering, that poor battery could be heard screaming during that repair. You need a proper soldering iron, 25w isn’t meant for that kind of work.
Either way glad you sorted it out, I wouldn’t trust the repair just due to the process.

    Hi there.
My advise would be to replace speed controller and BMS to non Xiaomi make, as I did. My scooter had firs fault just after 20km of riding. I managed to fix it thanks to russian guys on youtube. But it developed a new fault shortly afterwards. Fixt it again and again and again, until it compleatly died. It just couldn't handle longer journeys.
I haven't done much miles on my scooter since, but it looks like mileage improved a bit. Exeleration is not as good, controler does only 350W. So fare no problems compare to original Xiaomi guts.
    Good luck

      Hi.
Problems I had where downt po battery BMS. So I replaced it to one I bought on Amazon. Battery cels where fine. But I had to replace controller too. Xiaomi controller was fine but it works only with original BMS. There is seller L-Faster on Amazon and on Aliexpres too, I think. I boug a set, 350W controller and LCD with thumb control. They do offer thumb brake too, but I connected brake to existing one on the scooter. Controller allow you to set voltage, wheel size, revs, speed limit, power from zero or after push. Just light swich not working like advertised. But light I'm going to connect to original scooter swich.
      Hope that helps.
      All the best

Hi. You don't need to change the charger if you use the same battery. It is designed for 36V battery. You need to look for 10S BMS. I bought BMS with balancer 40 amps. But 40 amps is way too much for 350W. 10-15 amps should be enough. Jus my worry was that cheap 10 amps BMS might not last too long.So don't get exited and set controller to more or less the same top speed as it was.

its known that you should set the energy recovery system to weak via the app. This has apparently solved this issue however, most reviews state having it set to 'medium' or 'strong' whilst fully charged is what causes the problem. was your scooter fully charged? i was wondeeing if you could set it to medium or strong when the battery has drained from 100% or is that setting just producing too higher amps to cause the problem anyway regardless of what percentage the battery is at?

What is the exact model of the fuse? I cannot find anything around. How many amps is the original fuse? Can you give me a link to buy it? replacing it with a higher capacity fuse will probably burn the controller. Instead, I am thinking of replacing the fuse with a lamp fuse (similar to those ones used to protect high power speakers, where the fuse converts surplus current into light) or, as a last choice, with a circuit breaker switch to fix somewhere easily accessible.

Just an update: I tested my original fuse on the board and it seems fine, so I did not replace it. It seems that my full battery-board is gone. I am not actually willing to substitute it as it will surely break again. It is obvious that the circuit is not well designed and the board is uncapable of handling the current generated during a break. What I did is to exclude the battery-board and power the controller directly with the battery, but this did not work as the controller went into protection (I think this happened because it did not receive the signals from the battery-board). I think I will use a raspberryPI + a new motor controller and do my own control circuit. Between this problem and other problems, such as constantly flat wheels, unsoldered connections within the battery and the accellerator getting stuck, this scooter turned out to be a total waste of money and now I can only use it for hobbies... Sorry to give you such a negative reply, but I really wish I would have bought a different brand. Just as a cherry on the cake, I have a friend with the same scooter and he is experiencing exactly the same problems...

Well, I managed to flash the BMS with a STL over usb, and then the thing worked, but decided to go bank when I put it back in the case. :(
No idea what went pop when I closed it up, but hoping a new board will work fine.

Hi guys, can I get some help, please?
Issue is, I cannot power on the scooter, it is brand new, never ridden. Was like that out of the box. Already got my money back from aliexpress and they do not want it back.
My M365 is a budged version with a 20 cell battery pack, which coincides with the 28V as it is basically 2/3 of the 40V, that I am reading on the solder contacts of the long red and black cable, that he soldered off in the video, after removing the waterproofing layer. (btw the sticker on the pack said 36V pack, but I assume that they just use one sticker for all variants)
My issue is different from his, as I am measuring 14V on the battery power cable connector (black plug, big red and big black cable). A further issue is, that the charging voltage of the charger is 42V, s this kind of contradicts my theory, unless they just gave me the wrong charger or i am missing something else.
I have also checked the usual online suggestions as spot welded connections on top of the battery pack and connection of cable going from controller to the handlebars, all seem t be fine.
I do not get any beeps or error codes from the controller, but the red LED on the battery pack is blinking 4 short times and then stops, when I connect the charging cable to the scooter.
I also tried resetting the BMS as per link below
    xiaomiscooter.wordpress.com/2017/04/25/solve-the-battery-or-ignition-problems-of-your-xiaomi-scooter/
I am not quite sure, what is happening when the voltage is just halved on a battery pack between the main contacts of the packs and the power cable contacts. Not very surprising, as i am more mechanically minded, than electrically, haha.

Mine keep turn off after few rides or few days. After I plugged out the red+black power cable for a while and plug in back and the plug in charger cable, the scooter able to turn on as normal. After few rides will turn off again. Anybody encounter the same issue or know how to solve this problem? Thank you very much.

Really bad idea to touch the board with a tongs , you easily rip off SMD parts from the board

  • @frederic6998

10:22 you're putting way to much, only a little bit is needed, what's left on it is pretty much enough and you only need on one side then you can easily solder the other side once you've done the first side.

Hi there, does anybody got an idea, where i can get the board with the Z fuse on? Something in the board seems not to work, so that the electricity flow is interrupted. I couldn't find it as a replacement part on Aliexpress. They only offer the whole battery unit for 225 Dollar. I'm thankfull for any help!
