- Spencer bought his first farm! This one is pretty close to where we grew up. This is gonna be a interesting Spring!
Overtime I'll be trading some of my farmland for farmland near Spencer's farm also. This will be kind of a slow transition, but will allow us to focus more on the long-term of farm operation!
Plan is for Spencer and Buch to get it all cleared & disked while I plant my ground, and then after I'm all done we'll drive the tractor over to Spencer's farm and get his planted.
Thanks for watching!!
Seems crazy that this will be your 3rd season farming
I was just thinking this, just felt like the other day when I was watching his first videos on this channel
@@DanielHoevener I still remember the early fs 19 days like yesterday
@@knoxoswald I remember watching them in the nice summer day in my office with my windows open and I was so happy😊
They grew up fast That’s for sure. They are so talented
Ikr
I wouldn't haul the tractor and planter 80 miles to plant 50-odd acres. Buy a 6 row 7000 to plant with the 4020
Congrats Spencer hope you do great and grant don’t forget to help him
They really seem like a great team and pretty cool to watch them working on dreams of farming
I recommend investing in a semi. You could buy a cabover for cheaper, and then buy a cheap lowboy. I think it would be a good investment for traveling back and forth and hauling the excavator. Also later on hauling grain
Throw a log on the back of the disc to add weight. It will till up a lot better
On Spencer’s 4020 it will start easier if you turn the steering wheel back and forth and if u take the 6 volt batteries out and put to 12 volt batteries in
Congrats! I just picked 423 acres from my neighbors. I been renting it for 10 years so I didn't gain any but it's nice to own it
🙄 Silly me...I always thought Spencer was Buck. 😆 Glad I seen this!
Time to get a semi with a low boy. 80 miles each way in the tractor will wear them tires out quick.
Wear some good hearing protection driving the 4020 or your ears will be ringing later in life...Years of driving open station tractors in the 70's and 80's with no hearing protection have left me "ringing" my self to sleep at night.
Could probably get a cheap 4 or 6 row John Deere 7000 and plant it! Interesting move and hope it pays off for you guys!
congrats to spencer for his first farm 👍
Congratulations! You guys have your hearts in it!
Congratulations, Spence. You guys work hard you deserve it. I’m very jealous. I grew up in the farm in business, and then we move down south and hadn’t been able to farm in my adult life, but I always wanted to go back to it. So good luck my friend.
If you wanted it bad enough you would’ve found a way…
First year on the farm just buy a good 6 row planter and keep the wear and tear off your newer tractor. Plus it’s kind of fun to start that way before all the newer good stuff comes up to you.
Also a tip when your starting the 4020 if you turn the wheel back and fourth it helps it start
That’s awesome! I remember in 1984 my dad and his brothers farmed between them about 80 miles apart as well. It can be done, but don’t burn yourself or funds out.
Congratulations spectacular Spencer on this. Grant thank you for guiding him. He’s right your a great brother. Buch thanks for helping out love ya. Love you all very much. Great teamwork. I’m a emotional wreck
Congrats Spencer on the new farm!!!

well done Bud.. Congrats Spence... may your days be filled with joy on your farm.. all the best
Congratulations Spencer
This is so exciting for you Spencer I know you and grant will take care of this farm hope all is good take care and God bless
Spencer, please put a ROP or better a ROP with sun shade roof. I've known 3 farmers that have died on 4020's because they did not have ROP on them.
This is great, so excited for you guys, love this channel, good luck guys👍👏
Good for you guys, especially Spencer! You guys are living my dream
Yes!!! What you said about long term focused is right on!!!!

Thank you for your videos they are the best congratulations for you farm
This is gonna be so fun to watch where you guys take this!! My dad bought 480 acres back in the ‘70’s and has done amazing things with my boyhood home farm.
Cant wait too watch y’all pull the trees up!
That’s awesome man! Definitely living the dream
Congrats
That's a really good piece of land. Hi from Italy!
Congratulations Spencer on buy your first farm land
Congratulations Grant and Spencer. I farmed from 89 to 2005. I really miss it.
cant wait to see how the farm grows in the next few years :D
Congrats Spencer that what was the tractor was for
Wonderful
Very difficult getting farm
let alone contiguous
Good luck
My dad and I are on a similar journey. My dad did the 1031 exchange with 400 acres in central Kansas (were we have been for last 25 years) for 640 in ND. We’ve already got 480 in ND. But the house is my grandpas old house 110 miles south in MN were we got 200 acres and my uncle farms a respectable amount there as well. Still figuring out where to build a shed and where I should buy my first ground. It’s a lot cheaper and easier for equal quality ground at our ND farm area.
Very happy to see another video from the Hilbert Bros. This channel is very interesting in the sense of starting out from scratch farming and actually showing the progress. Airal views of the new farm ground look good with plenty of potential after doing some ground maintenance, only draw back is being 80 miles away from the home ground. May want to look into purchasing a decent semi and a lowboy so you can truck your tractors and combine, the rest of your equipment is pullable by pickups. Great channel guys keep em coming.
I hope it’s less stressful grain farming than dairy farming
This is awesome for Spencer and also an easy way to start up those older tractors is to turn the steering wheel back and forth real quick good luck!
the older 20's series are beautiful, we have a 920 and its the most fun out of every tractor we have
good for him. nice of you to help. my first tractor was a 4010 still have it. one bit of advice add on to the exaust pipe get those fumes higher.
Just a tip when you disk, disk the feild then do the outside round do the inside first
Grant can you tell us how the beginner farm loan works? Congrats to you all.
Keep uploading vids love em keep it up 👍
You figure out what you want out of life and do it immediately instead of waiting for whenever the "right" time is (a time that often never times). You are learning through doing, which ultimately can provide some tough lessons in retrospect, but that's the only way they can be learned. Super inspiring for me, and I just want to encourage you to keep pushing forward to success!
congrads spence🚜🚜🚜
Crazy how Grant was my childhood, Nice to see him farming irl. Crazy how he started from playing video games to this. Proud of you Grant.
I work for Farmers National Company in Eastern Nebraska. It’s fun hearing you discuss your 1031 plans.
So cool.
Gosh daaangit this is so so so cool! 🤘😃
Not gonna lie....im a little jelly. U guys rule
Excited for you Spencer! We are almost ready to plant 15 acres that hasn't been in production for about 35 years or more, it's been a lot of work, but has been rewarding!
Congratulations Spencer on your farm my man! Remember watching you as well from fs17 🤣
Those tree line buffer strips might prevent runoff from entering the creek.
Love the videos grant
i love your vids i watch vods for 3 years
I still like your farming videos Grant!
Will Spencer be making some farming videos of his own this year since the two farms are currently apart from one another?
From past experiences I would buy/rent a moldboard plow for the CRP
I love that 40/20 wish I could own one one day
Oh man this is awesome! I would love to head your direction and help out with my excavator!
Great job on the burn!
That’s awesome! If you or Spencer could maybe talk more about the beginner farmer loan I think that be very helpful for a lot of people interested in farming
Plan on making a video going over the process of getting the loan and my experience with it.
He should make a UA-cam for his new farm and I am happy for Spence😊
🔥🔥 Badass 🤘🤘
I love your vids!
That’s some good black dirt
