The New Cadets at West Point march better after just one day practice than the Air Force and Naval Academy after 4 years of practice.

About a platoon size element will realize quickly that this is not for them and will leave before summer ends. No loss of honor,it is not for everybody, just ain't. Most important job in America, leading people in combat. It takes some thing special to order some soldiers to do a task that some may not return alive from, ti inspire that is special.

David the count on March back day was 1187, down about 15 from RDay. There is a significant drop off after soph year before commitment to five years post graduate service is made. About 80% make it to Graduation day. Academy wants to improve this.

@@KGKraetzerMedia it is not "Yearling"year, these are Plebe's coming back from Cadet Basic Training . I trained Cadets at Buckner which takes place the summer after Plebe year when they become Yearlings.Their march back is approx.12 miles, this march is 6.I did that 12. Do not know where you got that figure,D.O.D.does not release it. Any how if a cadet leaves the Academy up to 24 hours before the start of the next academic year after yearling year, he owes no Army obligation. If that cadet drops the day of,( at 0445 hours), of the start of Cow year,he owes Uncle Sam 4 years service as E-4/ E-5 . Drop out rate after Yearling year is 0%. Except for Medical, or cadets are dropped on request(demand actually)With all this that 15 out of 1187 is less than 1.5%. The national rate of drop out from all colleges is closer to 18% here in Jersey. !.5% is acceptable, I was there to make it hard on Cadet's, see if they have what it takes, drive some to point of quitting. I did not see you in my cycle's. Stop trying to put down those who dare to try, when you did NOT.Got it civilian?.

@@KGKraetzerMedia To continue the higher drop out occur just prior to start of Cow year. About 4 each year transfer to another academy. The baseball team has lost 3 players before Cow year begins, to minor league ball. Think the hockey ream also lost one or two over the decade. Less then 1'5% leave during Plebe Basic training Summer. Army life ain't for everybody.Duty at Buckner and Natural Bridge was the best I ever had.

I'd say that those athletes who are "taking a knee" ought to be brought here (or to one of the other academies) to see just who it is that makes it possible for them to have that privilege as "free speech". Then they can "take a knee" in honor of and obeisance to these men and women.
