Had a ground mounted 16k system since 2022. It's a grid tied system because here in NY State we have net metering. It works like a bank account for kwhs. The excess solar production goes to the grid, the bank account, and withdraw kwhs when needed at night or in winter for example. We get a 1 for 1 credit. In the time we've had the system it has saved us $5000 USD.

Cost me less to make my homestead offgrid, than what my local utility wanted to run 250ft of wire into the house and install the meter. Im in Saskatchewan. 24kw of solar, 4kw of wind, 30kw of storage. Only time the generator started up to charge the batteries? I was too sick to go clear the panels off from the snow.

Ongoing investment expenses are 11.4%, Beer makers, Personal Computer makers, and Magazine publishing makes more profit than the Oil industry. Estimates are if the Federal government had allowed more drilling on federal land, the income to the government would have been $2.7 trillion.

I installed 10kW panels on my roof and have driven the Deepal L07 (the sedan version of the S07 coming to Australia).
I am able to cut down my monthly electricity bill from 15,000 Thai Baht to mere 2,500 Baht. Amazing!!!
Gas bills? 5,000/month. Now ZERO!!!! Got the energy for my car from solar. And I turned on air cond all day. Only pay for electricity at night.
    Overall I save 17,500 Baht or ~ $700 AUD per month.🎉

The problem is that in Australia the STC installation rebate system invalidates upgrading most solar systems. If you install a bigger new inverter and new panels, older solar panels that are fully operational and safe (but have dropped off the latest approved list of solar panels) cannot be connected to the new inverter and allow the upgrade to be eligible for the STC rebate. This forces many upgrades to not really be an upgrade but a total removal of the system. Luckily there is a booming diy projects market where people can use these old panels and put them on a vehicle or shed.
It would be great for the environment if a law was passed which outlawed the dumping of solar panels in landfill and encouraged re-use and recycling.

I have the same panel series. The busbars have been moved to the back, so that they don't block any light.
These panels work very well in low light conditions and on a cloudy day you have enough of them to power the home.
Also with clouds the light is dispersed, making all of them work, regardless of their angle.
In the Netherlands we don't get much for our excess solar power anymore because there are so many that it outperforms demand on a sunny day or on sunday when most businesses are closed. The best solution is a home battery.
Not sure that the virtual power plant makes sense in the long run with big grid batteries taking over, but if you are getting a huge battery to charge your EV, you might as well make extra some money while it lasts.

Installed longi panels 4 yrs ago (here in Melbourne) and installed SolarEdge inverter. Great products no problems. Since then installed a SolarEdge battery and last month an EV charger. All in the SolarEdge ecosystem. More expensive but fully integrated and allows expansion to future installations eg water heaters, cook tops etc. this expansion is another thing to consider in a purchase

Sam. Yours is a uniquely NSW experience. Here in Vic there are several differences. Firstly we are limited to 5kw feed in single phase or 10kw per phase for 3 phase. That is all contingent on the distribution Co allowing any feed in, many people are denied. Metering in most areas in Australia is run by the distribution Co, not the retailer. There is no upfront charge here for metering. I am a sparky here in Vic. Feed in is no 3.3c kwh. For the first few summers I would have a slightly negative bill, but last summer the best I could do was a charge of $4 in Feb. I have a 6.6kw 1 phase system with solar edge optimisers and a 5kw solar edge inverter. A lot of your calculations can not apply in most parts of Australia.
Love the channel. Hope the Xpeng is a great car.

I am in Victoria and have three phase. But I'm limited to 5kW/Phase. I have about 20kW of solar but it only reaches that output if I have enough loads (EV charging is about the biggest). In a typical sunny day this time of year I only make about $2. (Feed in for me is also 3.3c/kWh) Although that more than covers the connection charge and I don't get a bill, its nowhere near the $10 per day that Sam is getting. I wonder if there is some special deal with the power providers he has in Newcastle ?

Sam all the best to your family mate, but wait until you get batteries, I buy 1/4 of a kWh per day and export about 10-20 kWh's/d (my system is only 10kW (half of yours) I installed the FranklinWH batteries (x2) because of the off grid and black start capability. I did also buy the generator module of them so I can recharge the batteries by generator if I need to, so far I haven't needed to use that. We had a 48 hour blackout here because of the recent high winds and I didn't run out of power at all and I have a granny flat and a full house occupied. The batteries were so good I even ran some extention cords accross the fence so my next door neigbours had some power. I can't wait to get my EV so I can store my excess in that rather than export to the theiving $hits that are our energy retailers. Yes it cost some money but "Sticking it to the man" is so worth it!

Black panels tend to be monocrystalline panels, which are generally more efficient than the 'blue' panels, which tend to be polycrystalline. Black panels are more expensive on the whole therefore, but you get your return back sooner through higher efficiency.

I dunnow TS, I've found black panels attract more heat so they would be slightly less effcient in the peak hours of sun but because these are East West it shouldn't be a big issue for him. You will usually see this on the monitoring platforms as a flat line on the bell curve, saying that, they do look good and they still do a fantastic job at generating energy. Longi are a good company to deal with as well. Poly vs Mono? 30 years in and I still have not seen real world evidence, mono's have higher peaks but polys tend to start earlier and finnish later on the bell curve so it's kinda even. Poly's are cheaper and have good warranties these days as good as the monos, so it's horses for courses I guess.

Fasting is used for starving the body of glucose and carbohydrates upon which cancer feeds. A concept known as the Warburg effect. Fasting can reduce blood sugar levels, which may limit the availability of glucose for cancer cells. When the body is deprived of carbohydrates, it enters a state of ketosis. Always consult a healthcare professional before making significant changes to your diet.

Yes I've seen studies that say this, it also helps the chemo attack the C, if they can manage to fast into ketosis before treatment and then during treatment (once it is in their bloodstream) eat some sugar which BTW the C craves, the cells open up to accept the glucose and the chemo like a Trojan horse/magic bullet enters the heart of the cells.

East-west (or even just west) facing is definitely better these days. Supposedly only ~15% less total output. Gets some production (and therefore less import) into the evening peak - which is getting more ToU price hikes these days (enabled by the smart meter). Fewer imports for brekky and dinner. Crank the AC until the sun goes down, pre-cool the house and need none after that, etc. I have never managed to max out midday production going pretty much free to the grid (often into negative wholesale priced market).

Exactly. 14 months after installing solar and crunching numbers, I realised that it was false economy.

I would have been better of investing the $10k elsewhere.
I also have changed provider to Origin and have the EV Power up plan. 8c per kwh to charge my Tesla Model 3. The single biggest saving across the board making the solar negligible.

When you install solar and deliver to the grid you are using it without contributing to the cost for the exploitation. Enter a fee for your solar deliveries to the grid.. this is completely different than getting 10$/day. There are ways and means to avoid this without going offgrid however buy not delivering to the grid when you have excess capacity.

I lost so much high output days because I am still not on pay in tariffs because the mains network and the supply company have dragged their feet to putting me on export tariff .

Not connected to grid solar systems are easy to DIY. A DIY 1000 watt expandable starter solar system, battery, charge controller, combiner box wiring and AC inverter and battery costs about $2500 US to produce free green energy for life. All are expandable. A 2000 watt system might cost about $4000. Sizing the system and determining whether this system will ever be grid connected would be two starting points.

Heat reduces performance of the panel.

I often wonder if a small cooling fan under the panels would help remove the rising hot air under the panels.

i bought the pieces one or two at a time, installed the system myself...yes i made some mistakes, bought two things i didn't need at the time, but need one of them now. bought used solar
panels that put out half of what they should put out...still expensive. I could have bought 4 new panels that were really powerful for about $2000 and have more power now...but I didn't have
the money. It's really hard to buy 2 panels at a time that won't break your bank and are powerful. I now have 26 panels that cost me about $3000 instead of six panels that would have cost
me about the same and put out the same amount of power. I think the most important thing you can buy first is figure out how power you need to charge an EV car. Buy all your equipment
to fit that figure...batteries, panels, all in one charge controller/inverter. I bought a battery charge controller that is nice, cost a lot and handles quite a bit of power...IT turns out I should have
waited to buy an all in one charger/inverter with twice or three times the power, puts out 220vac split phase and accepts 2 sets of solar panels that you can add to. My system ended up costing
me about $12,000, but would have cost me about $40,000 to $50,000 to buy and install. In my area a smart meter doesn't help...the power company charges only for how many Kwh you use,
not when you use them. So it doesn't matter when you charge and when you use power. The main reason I installed solar power is to provide power when the grid goes down. Sometimes
for 3 days, sometimes 1 day, and a couple times for nine days. My system will work for two days and then I have to start a generator to charge the batteries while also using power.

Maybe on an average home all one needs is maybe 12-14 panels and a 10-15Kw storage battery. However if you have calculated to add in your future power consumption of charging your Xpeng G6EV during the day and at what rate, then? I can still feel you still have too many panels. It would be good for you to do a video on the rational of the system you are aming at, with the 26 panels generating 26Kw/h at the peak.

The straw light energy is about 10 % of your peak. So when you have 450 Wp there come about 45 W from the modules even on cloudy days or durin sundown or sunup.
There are even modules available which can catch IR light so the still producing a little amount during the night.
Your company just did clamp your modules straight to the roof. This isn't the best solution for doing this because this system fixes the modules and gives them mechanical stress because of temperature changes. A better solution is to have a fixed frame to the roofe where the modules just layed in loosely and so the can make their little movements with temperature. The result you will see after 20 years. With this clam system the glass of the modules will get tiny breaks which make the modules blind with time, so they will produce less and less power. Modules with the inlay system are still working fine mostly even after 30 years because they had no thermal stress from fixation straight to the roof.
Of cours the inlay system is a bit more expensive that the cheap clamping to the roof. But at the end it is a reliable invest, because of the so much increased lifespan of the modules.
