Thanks for another great video, Tom! As you asked for suggestions: Could you someday possibly give a rundown of how you set accurate intonation, especially aspects of compensation, balancing out wolf tones, etc.???
Thanks as always Jesse, great suggestion 🙏
I was worried that the full video might have been a bridge too far, but au contraire, mon ami: it has proven to be a soothing, therapeutic experience; I could almost smell the wood shavings and the oil!
ah yes, the gray cells, they were entertained!
🤣
That wood is simply gorgeous! What a shame that we've been given only monotone ebony all these years. Really appreciating these vids, Tom!! ♥
Thank you!
Two things…
1. Now I “need” new gouges - thanks.
2. Amazing video as always. #masterclass Thanks!
I would like to see a video on your fret work, especially the beautiful fret ends. Thanks, great work!
Great suggestion Jeff 🙏
Good morning Tom…
Watching this while having my morning coffee was quite enjoyable, as well as timely.
I’m a couple of days away from creating the bridge on my current guitar, and I always have mixed emotions during this time. There’s the excitement, on one hand, about being ever-so-close to hearing the guitar speak for the first time…yet there’s a bit of melancholy because the relationship I’ve carefully nurtured with this collection of wooden parts is about to be lost, as it leaves the shop and travels to live with its person.
It was rewarding to see that your process here is much like my own…time-consuming, careful and very intentional. For me, as with you, it’s about the aesthetic and personal elements of the builder’s touch…
Yet for me, it’s also about spending a little extra quality time with someone I know I’m about to say “goodbye” to.

Thanks Joel, I know that feeling!
nice video on bridge shaping/carving, loved the simple screw through piece of wood for thinning top perimeter,so simple yet so effective thanks a bunch!
Thanks for sharing Tom. Much appreciated.
Outstanding 👍 an after bridge glued saddle slotting video would be most enthusiastically received and appreciated 😎 Cheers
Beautiful work
Beautifully done.
That was awesome! Thanks Tom! Sugestions: bracing soundboard and back and how to tap tone your top!
Wow this looks like a great job. At first I couldn’t believe it was made with hand tools. I thought it was cnc’d. I don’t think I could ever do such a precise job. Congratulations
Well hopefully now you have some tips!
Beautiful work!
Thanks!
Always wonderful, thank you!
Thanks Scott
Always amazing to see the craftsmanship that goes into making these guitars. Beautiful work
stupendous, tocayo! thank you for sharing .. .
Very nice!
Thanks Nicolai
Really appreciate the video. Super informative, and those nuggets of info are gold. I would love a video on your voicing process for sure. Thank you for another super informative video!
Thanks for the insights and inviting us into your shop once again. Beautiful work.
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing your method!
Thank you!
Very nice tutorial! Thanks!
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your thought process on this beautiful bridge. Great episode!
Thanks John
Thanks Tom! Love watching and learning about your craft! Maybe you could do a video where you talk about how you got into being a luthier and particularly what it was like apprenticing and then starting your own company?
that guide is a smart idea
Thanks!
Awesome work! I really enjoyed your philosophy as to why you were doing them all individually by hand. Getting that feel and working the experience into the final shape can't be replicated with a machine. I would love to see some of your processes around making and adding your copper accent pieces.
Hi Tom and thanks for this interesting video. This degree of craft and design is so rare these days. I really love the bridge you carved for Anjou.
Thanks Hugh! Hope you’re well my friend
Really nice and instructional video. I’ve watched hundreds of luthier videos in youtube, but still learned a lot from this. Do we want more like this? Yes please!
You got it!
Excellent video Tom.
My only ask is you keep making them. : )
As a beginner, I'm happy to watch any and all informative videos you have the time to produce.
I appreciate your effort.
Perfect with the morning coffee!!
I appreciate you watching!
Thanks Tom, lovely to watch an amazing craftmans. Maybe you could show how you do you copper work at some point.
will add to the list!
Having always been a very visual based learner, I very much appreciate these skill based videos. I will definitely be modifying some of my scraper’s. I’d imagine that determining a target weight for your bridges has come from experience and that the wood species plays a large part. But in general terms is there range I should be looking for? I’ve used rosewood and ebony in the past and never considered weighing them upon completion. I’m currently working with ziracote and will definitely start recording weight in my journal. Any tips on a good target weight for that species? Also, I’d enjoy seeing videos on your side bending and binding processes. Thanks for another great video.
🙂👍🏼
Thank you, enjoyed the video, picked up a few tips. I am building a uke currently and was thinking of making a bridge inspired by yours/somogyi design!
I will allow it 😉
@@TomSandsGuitars thank you! Hope I do you proud! 🙏
@@marimaeabreu I know you will! Just don’t do me too proud because then you won’t want to buy one from me 🤣
if I tried to gouge something like that it would look like fire wood kindling, damn, that's superior skills. one day..
Thank you for the video. Do you make pinless bridges too?
Very interesting and informative video Tom. I be interested to know what is the height at the front of the bridge that you are aiming for. I thickness my bridge height to 9mm at the front of the bridge and aim for a 14mm height at the front of the bridge from the soundboard top to the top of the saddle. What are your thoughts on these aspects.

Another beautiful video! One question -What files do you use? Thank you!
👍❤👍
🙌
Lola’s bridge is i think twice the weight of Clemmies. 😊
Yup!
How many routers do you have? Tom: in which shelf?
Wonderful as always! Do you always use one type of oil on bridges, or do you change it up based on bridge species?
I’ve experimented with different oils but I usually just use lemon oil. Tastes good.
@@TomSandsGuitars Delicious!!!
You really don’t have enough makita trim routers.
Ha! Agreed
Some day that'll surely go to eleven.
“Untold Secrets” is redundant.
Clicked on the video though didn’t you? 😘
@@TomSandsGuitars I’m already a subscriber. The clickbait was unnecessary and unattractive.

@@TomSandsGuitars Over-enthusing over the thump tone of boards doesn’t make your guitars any better.
@@richsackett3423 if you say so sweet pea
So you are going to tell us that you cut the saddle slot when the bridge is on the guitar but not show us how it’s done? Dude… that’s just mean.
What’s next? Ya goons push me down, give me a wedgie, and take my lunch money?
🤣🤣🤣
You don’t have to do it when it’s on the guitar - I have a really crappy router sled for it but I think stewmac sell something a little more refined. 🙏
Beautiful work Tom. Quick question is the sanding block ,onto which you sanded the underneath of the bridge , formed with a top radius in the long plane only ( rather than compound radius )and would that entail a further refinement at gluing stage ( sandpaper on top method ) ?
It’s a compound radius 🙌
@@TomSandsGuitars thank you. Great idea.
