Re: the prisoner who, when asked if he had any last words, said "I came here to die, not to make a speech."
This was a modern day incident, but I remember reading about a similar occurrence in the days of the Wild West where almost exactly the same words were spoken by an outlaw (I don't remember his name) just before he was hanged.

deathrow seems both terrifying and comforting, imagine knowing when you die and being able to be able to say your last words, you know itll probably be quick and painless, other situations you might not have the chance to do anything, but with deathrow you are able to put affairs in order and think about your final sentence
Actually, many executions are botched and quite painful.

There is a infamous line from a book I've read called 'i told you I was ill'. Now there different mini storys within this book and one is regarding a serial killer who was sentenced to death by electric chair... he was supposedly quite the joker in life despite his horrific deeds. He remained this character right up to his execution. When asked if he had any final requests .. he replied.. yes can I hold your hand.. !! Take one more with him kind of thing lol
