His birth brothers which are the Tumbela males have 2 of the 3 with the same issue. Most likely culprit is Bovine TB. We also lost Mpohlo to it earlier in the year. Who do the new cubs in Mbiri belong to? Could it be from the Large Mbiri male a few months back or have the Tintswalo boys finally mated?

    • @sillygirl3284
      @sillygirl3284 3 роки тому +2

      I thought the older cubs belong to the Orpen males - when they died late 2020 (one died from Anthrax), two lionesses had just started denning with their cubs; they would be about 8 months though. Younger cubs than that are more likely to be sired by the Tintswalos. There was a lioness denning in April - not sure who the father is, I think Tintswalo presumed they were Orpen?? The Menage' quatre by the large Mbiri male was likely false estrus to distract him fro the cubs, although he was found mating with one of the lionesses last week with more "true" sustained mating behavior and that would likely result in cubs.

      Need to edit this: There were only two Orpen cubs- they were first videod in February, but a guide in April said he had just seen a group of cubs that no one else had laid eyes on - so I was assuming another set of cubs around April. That was incorrect - there is only the two Orpen cubs; one of the lionesses has suckle marks NOW indicating new cubs but they haven't been seen yet - who knows who the fathers are though.

      @@sillygirl3284 Mbiri pride dynamics have been interesting lately. The Mbiri females have been acting aggressively towards their sons sexual advances, not saying it's not a possibility the younger cubs are theirs... But they seem reluctant to mate with their offspring, and there hasn't been much visual proof they even have. They've even been seen outside their normal territory mating with the Ross male... Again I'm not trying to discredit... Just some food for thought. Cheers.

      Not technically. He is. Lambile is full brothers With the Tumbela Males

      @@FrankieKennethL why did Lambile separate from the Tumbelas? That is a pity

    • @FrankieKennethL
      @FrankieKennethL 3 роки тому

      @@lisaa7991 that’s been quite the mystery Lisa. It happened very young. Some theories say he was separated from the Pride and one day joined the Mbiri on a kill. He was accepted and just remained. I’ve asked a dozen folks and there’s no definitive reason. It’s ironic though,,,cause as you may know the Tumbelas had a terrible time as nomads. So it’s been easier for him that it happened this way.

      @@FrankieKennethL okay so started with 4 brothers. 3 are from Mbiri pride. 1 from Nharu pride? That one randomly joined the coalition. Right? Is he what you’re referring to when you say the Tumbela males?
      So.. now there is 3 males left.
      1 is gone.
      Which one of the original 4 males was that?

    Who sired titswalo males and mibiri males?

    • @FrankieKennethL
      @FrankieKennethL 3 роки тому +1

      They were sired by the Thanda Impi Coalition. Red Road Male was sired by Skorro.

    • @styx5131
      @styx5131 3 роки тому +1

      If you're referring to the Mbiri's within the Tintswalo males... Yes Thanda Impi males. Older Mbiri's are sired by Matimbas... And Red Rds sire is debatable... Some think Skorro, and some believe it's the Old Avocas.

    • @FrankieKennethL
      @FrankieKennethL 3 роки тому +2

      @@styx5131 this is correct about the Mbiri (Shaka and ZZ Scar). I didn’t read his question fully. I’ve been on the RRM debate regarding his likely father myself, but I was provided with sufficient evidence that convinced me it’s Skorro. Timeline just doesn’t fit for Avoca/Giraffe.

    • @styx5131
      @styx5131 3 роки тому +5

      @@FrankieKennethL yeah for sure... A lot of questions around that time, Skorro + and Sizanani partnered up around 2014, and the Old Avoca/Giraffes were still 5 strong up until 2018... They dominated the Ngala area into the Manyeleti for 5-6 yrs... Anythings possible. In my opinion Red Rd looks a lot like Brutus. But we're all entitled to our own opinions. I think that's part of the fun in a respectable back, and forth. Cheers.
