      Yes the door glass shattered. Not sure about front glass.

      @@HotspotsSoutheast @14:01 you can see the front glass gone and it looks like the "A pillar", for lack of a better term, is bent at the bottom. He could just have the glass open but...

      I'm pretty sure he bent the entire cab... If you watch it zoomed in you can see the front corner of the cab drop in relation to the main body of the excavator at the moment of "Oh Crap!".

      At about the fourteen minute mark mentioned above they both make a turn to drivers right. The Volvo cab window reflects nothing and the other cran’s front cab window shows a reflection. It looks as if he blew out at least the front window and operators door window.

    Love your overhead videos, especially useful for us model railroaders as it matches the usual view of our layouts. However, it would help, especially for less knowledgeable rail fans like myself if you could provide more information about which train is which. In the title and description you mention #370 and slugs, but which train is 370? Perhaps you could add text in the video or a list of timings in the description to show the train numbers and notable features, e.g. the slugs. TIA Stefan

      I’m glad you like my videos. My focus is on the trains and when flying the scenery as well. When I watch my own drone videos I find myself looking more at the scenery than the train. You see details you would never notice from the ground. As for how I make videos I have had people criticize them for not having enough details in the title. They want me to explain every detail and list every train number. That’s not what I’m interested in. It takes a lot of time to shoot and edit and upload the video. I don’t know all the train numbers. And when I do guess the numbers I get people complaining that they are wrong. So to avoid people complaining about wrong info I don’t bother with it. It’s a stack train. I don’t really care what the number is. There are plenty of other people making videos who talk through the whole video explaining everything or put titles throughout the video full of details. I just want to shoot videos of trains, not spend my time cataloging everything. It all depends on what your interests are. Some people love making charts and details of every train that goes by. I just like to watch them go by. :)

    Great videos. Hope the truck driver that caused all this trouble is watching. Mind you, wouldn’t like to foot the bill for this lot. No surprise if the trucking companies insurance premium jumps up a tad next year🇬🇧

    Can anyone explain what they do with the damaged railroad cars? Do they try and repair on site and make rail worthy, haul off by train loading it to another car type, or cut up and dismantle and haul off by truck?

    • @coryhoover01
      @coryhoover01 4 роки тому

      Those than can be are repaired the others are scrapped

    • @coryhoover01
      @coryhoover01 4 роки тому

      To the best of my knowledge not on site for repairs and they might for scrap

    • @HotspotsSoutheast
      @HotspotsSoutheast  4 роки тому

      If the cars are able to be set upright they can take them away for repair. They may even load them onto flat cars. But there was nothing to salvage on these cars. They fold and bend way too easy. They just cut them up for scrap.

    A while back you ran your drone over a railway bridge under construction over a river and I wondered if you checked back to see how it looks now ? If I missed your vid, sorry.

    At 20:14 there is the weirdest looking engine I have ever seen, is that simply an unmanable 2nd or third unit? #892 or is it not even an engine?

      4 axle locomotives are basically obsolete these days. Most track on class I railroads can handle the weight of 6 axle locomotives so you often see them doing the switching jobs often reserved for lighter weight 4 axles. However in cases where you do have weight restrictions the railroads have found interesting ways to make use of old 4 axles. If you remove the engine from one locomotive and connect it to another with power cables you now have a single locomotive with 8 axles. You get the extra traction of having two locomotives without significantly increasing fuel use. And because both locomotives have cabs you can still operate from the cab of the locomotive without an engine. It’s very quiet in that locomotive with no engine running. In other cases the railroads have decided to remove the cabs entirely, often times after a collision which destroyed the cab, and turn the locomotive into a slug. The slug is connected to the mother unit for electrical power. It becomes an 8 axle locomotive. NS has even converted 6 axle locomotives into slugs. Creating 10 and 12 axle locomotives when paired. And in some cases they have even incorporated the dynamic brakes from the original locomotive which is why the one in this video has a bulge in the center. It has dynamic brakes meaning it can convert electrical resistance into braking force. Slugs and motorless units are filled with cement to make up the difference in lost weight to keep traction levels the same.

    I thought for sure they'd haul that scrap/wreckage out by rail, cutting it up and putting into gondolas. But it looks like they're moving it closer to the street to haul away by truck? Huge scrap metal yard down Buford Hwy is probably where it will end up.

    • @PatriotCL
      @PatriotCL 4 роки тому

      Don't think they could load gondolas here, no siding (on the correct side of the track) and the mainline would be blocked during the loading

      at the 20 minute mark there are two types of slug units. One has a cab and the other is cabless.

    I been thinking for a second and thought why can't rail cleanup crews have a small back-hoe fitted with an extreme high pressure water cutter like some factories that routinely cut 2 and 3 inch steel with water jets,safer than a gas torch and much faster and the whole system would pay for its self in a few jobs,why is the rail road and connected contractors still dealing with antiquated systems.This cutter could go through and chunk up much of the scrap and then the 2 cranes here could spend there time loading trucks or gons,instead of lining the things up for safe cutting with a torch attached to a human operator,time is money and one water jet could replace a dozen men.

    Too many ads. Otherwise nice video.

      @HotspotsSoutheast  4 роки тому

      Yes I’ve noticed on long videos UA-cam dumps a ton of ads in there. I have removed some from one video I was looking at. I will see if I can remove more from the others.

    • @HotspotsSoutheast
      @HotspotsSoutheast  4 роки тому

      I’m just experimenting with ads at the moment. I’m not trying to make money doing this. It’s just a hobby. But it would be nice to have maybe some gas money for all the driving I do to shoot videos.

    • @HotspotsSoutheast
      @HotspotsSoutheast  4 роки тому

      I have turned off mid-roll ads. I don’t like them either. UA-cam only ads them to long videos.
