Thanks for the review. battery life is my biggest concern with a cordless belt sander, as there can be tremendous drag on the tool especially when starting with a 36 grit belt. If I had a pile of Flexvolt batteries on hand I might go a different direction, but based on your review I think I'll stick with my corded sander for now.
Does Dewalt offer a sanding frame for this tool? That would mount the sander either horizontally for flattening large areas or used vertically as a bench sander.
Looks great, I’ve just got the Milwaukee one and would be interested in a test between Dewalt, Milwaukee and Metabo HPT. I do envy the AC adaptor with the Metabo HPT though for maximum flexibility.
Hello. I am watching all your videos but never comment. Well I would like to comment now. Few month ago I did buy Milwaukee cordless belt sander. I had to return it in few days. The belt tracking system on it was poorly performing. Any time I slightly pressed on it the belt was dislocated by a lot. It was impossible to work with it without stopping every few seconds. Dewalt works very well in your hands. One thing I would like to see on it is movable front handle so you could get closer to the wall for example. Maybe it is? All the best to you sir Regards.
I wish dewalt would make a plug in adapter for tools like these to give the option of making it corded because otherwise it’s going to eat batteries. I also wish they made a 3x24 or 4x24 flexvolt version that would be sweet!
@@WorkshopAddict Thanks. The Dewalt looks beefy, but does it produce $130 more torque? Both Milwaukee and Dewalt put out $299 belt sanders, but I doubt that at $169 the HPT tool is inferior by 45%. Not hating on Red and Yellow, they make great tools that I use, but Green is generally right there with them at a lower price.
While you gave a nice review I'll never understand the obsession to use/own all battery tools? Some battery tools are definitely convenient for projects away from a power source, but otherwise this is a huge waste of cash on a high price item constantly needing replacement every one to two years! Most of my corded tools are well over 25 yrs old, heck even some of my battery operated tools are 20+ yrs old, but most of my batteries are less than 5 yrs old. The newer versions aren't lasting near as long as original versions.
Their old model got terrible reviews per the blue and orange big box store websites. I hope this one isnt like the older one. I think the complaint was dust collection was aweful or it ate tons of belts. I cant remember which.
Can the dust extractor be removed so it can be stored on its side in a DeWalt DWST08165 Toughsystem 2.0 Toolbox ? And then put back on easily when it is used ?
@@aaronhelliadis3351 same thing. It’s just a different method of measuring and so a different naming, but the batteries are exactly the same. Either they are called 60V MAX (US) or 54V (EU), which is for the average voltage ✌️😎

I work on cars but if i ever get into a woodworking project i'll get one of these. Thanks for the vid!
Use it to sand a car
Very great review I have to get one of them

How do you like the Milwaukee m18 belt sander. I have so many m18 tools already so it’s either Milwaukee or corded
Grip could be further back, front roller and therefore belt could actually extend more. It would make easier sanding below a fence.
Hmmm…I like it, but, I have their battery planer…so, how does it compare for material removal. Sander or planer skimming 1/32 per pass.
You can use the dewalt stealthsonic on all dewalt tools with the adapter that came with the new 60v chop saw
I used the belt sander this past weekend. The battery died after about a minute of use and was very hot when I took it off. Any thoughts?

I found an aftermarket one and I will be trying it next week.
@@WorkshopAddict I saw a video that 120v adapter for large meter saw burn the motor few times....
The best 4x24 (belt sander) is the old corded makita 3x24 wit which you use the 4x24 sand paper belt. Every trades man use it here in french canada.
@@mateobelanger7925 that’s the exact same one I use. That model has been around for over 30 years

Nice work as always, sander looks solid--how does the Metabo HPT compare?
Dewalt has more torque

This is dewalt's first cordless belt sander. There is no previous models
Hey, I've seen your review about the dcg426, does it have decent power compared to corded grinders?
It does have good power compared to cordless. Not there yet, but close.
Wow nice love it.

will tis fit in a dewalt small tough box case ?

Dont understand why dewalt hasn't made a 54v 1/2 router
Or 60v for usa

I got the Milwaukee that thing eats batteries
So does the Dewalt. I have it. Wouldn't use it for sanding a large surface, unless with a 60V battery.
