Some may not like this movie because it is a very uncomfortable truth. The fact is this movie is more reality than any other Hollywood movie. This may hit close to home than some realize so they don’t see it as extraordinary. This movie is a reliving of someone who experimented infidelity and there’s no Big Bang just a simple realization of the end of a relationship and not knowing if you will be okay. You just try and move on. Nothing glitz and glamorous just a plain ordinary story that happens very often

This scene where she doesn't take her husband's side (and he's completely in the right), and the fact that she wore white to someone else's wedding make it clear that Nora Ephron is a narcissist herself. This film really needed to be a little less heart and a little more burn.

I wouldn't say so much that Rachel is not taking Mark's side as she is trying to keep peace and keep Mark calm. Of course, Mark shows his anger. However, that doesn't mean Rachel isn't angry. She comments to Mark as they are about to attend a fancy dinner party that she told him not to hire Lazlo in the first place. Also, when Mark complains to Rachel about Lazlo, she basically says "You try tracking down a contractor." When Rachel finally gets hold of Lazlo, she is trying to act nice and calm but she is annoyed. As we know, the job NEVER got finished.
