Trims and buttons... at Pacific Trim. Maybe you can take a rolling suitcase instead of your dear husband, but he is so charming, he may enjoy the fabrics. Also, I would like to hear what kind of interfacing you use ... I have had both good and bad experiences with fusible. And I am not sure where to buy it. The black polka dot says poncho or kimono style to me... floaty and fun. You will ROCK it! And thank you for your cheerful videos and positive messages.
Doing math in my head is beyond me, but that sounds like a LOT of zippers 😍 you might be right about that suitcase! Maybe I can take them both, and Rob can use the suitcase as a handy rolling chair…. So, I love the fusible tricot I get at Steinlauf, I’m hoping that their new Instagram account means they’ll be taking phone orders. They have so many types of interfacing, I’m thinking of asking them to do a show & tell! And, you’re most welcome 💗
My fiancé and I went to NYC January 2022 because we got tickets to a show. I wanted to go to the garment district but we didn’t have time. But we did have time for Angelina bakery and we spent $60! It was so worth it though!
I just did this today (before the rain) with my guy. We started with a Korean bi bin bop for lunch and we’re still full after so didn’t stop for pastries though. I’ve been to the Janky store before (you need ideas prior to going in there or it is overwhelming). Some items are $5/yd (60”)! We got all the fabric we’ll need for two costumes. It was so fun and potentially dangerous to my pocketbook.
How do you get drool out of a keyboard? That Janky store is DA BOMB! GOTTA get me to NYC! Loved this trip BUT! Just a tip - when you spin that camera so fast, those of us with motion sickness were.. hmmmffff... mffffffff... trying not to hurl! :( Thanks for this great video!

Hi, such a good video. You guys need to visit Pittsburgh to see a Steeler game and shop in the Strip District and check out Shadyside! Keep making the great videos and would love to see a sew along. Pittsburgh, PA
We have stores like that in Toronto’s garment district!... the kind where if they don’t have it, it doesn’t exist! And the owner knows exactly where to find it! Stuffed from floor to very high ceiling!
Oh yea!! I had the great good luck to be housed within walking district of the shops on a job in Toronto -surely a sign that I needed to spend my food per diem on fabric. Which I did. Kings textiles is burned in my brain!
Bonus, a lot of these stores ship for you! These mics tho 😣they are going BACK. I had to decrease the db to 0 and then offer a sacrifice to the gods to get them to work whenever I flipped the camera! My sound engineer is going to quit. I better buy her a present, some more fabric, maybe…..
Loved this video, would love to know which, if any have websites. I am a notion junkie, and I definitely need pink interfacing! Lol stay on him to find some more 😇😍 thanks for sharing your trip and please show us more.
Wow! I can’t believe you are in New York City! Where are all the people?! I don’t know I just thought there would be more people :( Love the tour though.
Weirdly, the cross streets of the GD are usually not crowded, even in “normal” times-the avenues are pretty packed though. I ought to walk through Times Square on the next shopping excursion…
At the NY Muji is there a stamping station? You buy a notebook and go to the stamping station and decorate it. They have this at the Tokyo Muji stores and It was excellent. When I was done I realized that I am not a well girl. Thanks for this spree. When I am in NY next, I will check them out. Do you know about Fabric Mart Fabrics?
@@handmadeharriells i thought I replied but I guess I did not (or maybe I did and it's below but you're so popular that I am not looking). fabricmartfabrics.com is what I use as I live in the midwest. Thank you, thank you, ThAnK yOu! The last time I was in a fabric shop it was before the latest Ontario lockdown and I was only there for tailors tape and machine needles... @@handmadeharriells Ah well for the Featherweight. If you do up a vintage pattern in your own style I'm sure the humans of Cos Tube would be there for it. Last year it was called Co Co Vid. I am looking for cotton sundress patterns. I live in Florida so I need lighterweight cotton dresses. I am not as talented as you to make my own patterns. Hoping to find free printable patterns online Any suggestions? I also heard McCall's was shutting down their factory. Have you heard anything about that? Might be able to find some good sales on their patterns and easy sew ones. ❤
I heard something about that-I know they changed hands and we’re bought by a larger company. If you’re near a Joann fabrics, they usually have a biweekly sale on many of the brands (simplicity, McCall’s, butterick, vogue…). I’d look for a sale and go crazy! Instagram is great for finding inspiration too, you can search a hashtag like “mccallspatterns” and start making a mood board.
Yes. I missed the pattern sales last week. 😢 can't believe how expensive patterns are. Yowza. I get emails from this one sewing person with patterms that are generally free downloads. She seems to be always reading my mind somehow about stuff I am looking to make. Last week she did something with easy sewing patterns on dresses. And thats what I need is easy since I only have started sewing last year with masks and zero waste product. Thanks for the tip!

@@handmadeharriells thank you for your great response. I enjoy following you and your sewing instructions -and fun in all you do!
OMG you made me realize how much I miss NYC🥲
My fiancé and I went to NYC January 2022 because we got tickets to a show. I wanted to go to the garment district but we didn’t have time. But we did have time for Angelina bakery and we spent $60! It was so worth it though!
That Angelina’s will get you!!! Maybe you should request fabric trip as a wedding present 😬
and when you wrote "fully vaxed" I was thinking "fully waxed" LOL !
hahahahahaaaa!!!! That would put me out of the running for Annie, methinks 🤣🤣🤣👨🦲
I follow you two on this channel. You are so much fun! I was delighted to see a familiar face on Manifest S2E6! Woot woot!
Ah thank you! We’re glad to see you here (and wherever else we might appear 😁😉)
Oooohhhh, you would love our SR Harris Fabric here in Brooklyn Park, MN - discount fabric & you get to cut your own (except for special fabric)
You get to CUT YOUR OWN?!!! I feel faint.
I want pink interfacing, too!! Omg I have to follow this “sewology pilgrimage” the next time I can make it NYC!
I’ll have more pilgrimages up soon😁
@@handmadeharriells ooh yaypleaseandthankyou!
I don't read Oras....but I can say your energy is amazing!!!!
I gotta try Panda thread. My favorite is Daytona Trim. Great video thank you!
Love them too!
Eeek sorry! It’s sort of like a carnival ride 😅
I can definitely understand everyone wanting to start a conversation with you. Except the “hex” lady. No thanks.(lol)
I fell in love with your channel the first time I found it and subscribed. You and your husband are so adorable. I enjoyed going fabric shopping with you today.
Thank you Joyce! We’re so glad you like it!
My hex lady was a nice re-introduction to the streets of NY. Always a story……
I’m dead ☠️ want everything. Thank you so much for sharing ❤️❤️❤️ I was planning on a fabric shopping spree and now I know where to go!!!
Ooooo and I’ll have more tips soon!!
Hi, such a good video. You guys need to visit Pittsburgh to see a Steeler game and shop in the Strip District and check out Shadyside! Keep making the great videos and would love to see a sew along. Pittsburgh, PA
We DO. We really do. (and thankya!)
Saw you on Access Hollywood today... So exciting.
Love you so much and totally off topic, but I just saw you in MIB, International. You were great 👍
Ah thank you!!
When you were talking about the Gutterman thread,I was getting Madeline Khan vibes from u. Love Madeline Khan.
I wish I knew of these stores when I lived there!
Love it. I HAVE to come to NYC once. And ship some boxes back home....... Oh by the way, audio was great today!
Make hubby a "tropical style" shirt in the "Steelers" colours and he can wear it while being an "armchair athlete" watching the games on the telly....
I swear, he calls the game 5 seconds before the announcers say anything like 90% of the time. He could full on be the color commentary 👍🏽
Looks like Rob might need a pair of shorts made from the Steller's fabric. 🏈
I could really see him in some drapey, beachy, balloon leg pants………
Loved this video, would love to know which, if any have websites. I am a notion junkie, and I definitely need pink interfacing! Lol stay on him to find some more 😇😍 thanks for sharing your trip and please show us more.
I think Panda is the only one with a site, but S&S might have one, and they’re starting to try Instagram!
@@handmadeharriells Thanks so much, I will definitely take a look
If I ever get to come to NY will you be my fabric guide:) we would have so much fun fellow sewing friends:)
We are a boisterous bunch when we go shopping en masse! Your wallet might catch fire 🤣
Love NY garment district.
I’m definitely going to hit up these spots
I will check out these stores next time I go to NY. I like Trim-Fabrics Inc. 758 flatbush Ave, Brooklyn
Ooo I’ll put that on my Brooklyn list!
Awesome stores! I would have gone bonkers in the Janky shop! Lol and I have tried the calendar thing and it just doesn't work for me. 😂
Guess who has yet to use even one of those sticky notes🙃😂
Wow beautiful fabrics. I would not feel comfortable on the subway, lol country/burbs girl.
You know, I thought I wouldn’t ride again ever, but I was back on it within days. You get used to it!
yayyyyyyy
Absolutely awesome I would go bonkers , and come home broke 🤪
I feel you, sister. Luckily it started raining so I HAD to come home 😅
Wow it’s like a candy store to me.
THERE IS A STAMPING STATION 😲🤠
I have several friends who love FMF, gotta get there one day! It’s out of town, right?
@@handmadeharriells i thought I replied but I guess I did not (or maybe I did and it's below but you're so popular that I am not looking). fabricmartfabrics.com is what I use as I live in the midwest. They have good sales all the time. Black Friday weekend they had a good sale with insanely cheap shipping. They are nice, the prices are good, and if you have a car they are in Sinking Spring, PA.
Thank you, thank you, ThAnK yOu! The last time I was in a fabric shop it was before the latest Ontario lockdown and I was only there for tailors tape and machine needles...
The last time I got a virtual cruise through the wonder that is the NYC Fashion District was with Bernadette Banner.
You should Totally do the Hamilton Spencer Jacket that's a fundraiser for the Costuming Coalition for the fabric-based behind the scenes theatre folk! Just a suggestion... but please, Do The Thing.
Also - the You Tube Costuming Community (otherwise known as Cos Tube) is about to have their second annual on-line convention. Historical and vintage sewing. If you do something on your Featherweight you'd be the Bell of the Ball...
Check out Miz Bernadette, What's Sewing On, Costuming Drama, Stephanie Canada, Sewistine, Not Your Mama's History, Dandy Wellington, Cat's Costumery, and on-and-on.
- Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown
Ah dang, the featherweight is in Fayetteville! But I think you’re onto something with the Hamilton jacket………
I hope you get to venture out soon 💗stay safe out there!!
@@handmadeharriells Ah well for the Featherweight.
If you do up a vintage pattern in your own style I'm sure the humans of Cos Tube would be there for it.
Last year it was called Co Co Vid. This year may be going by a different name.
And yeah, the Hamilton jacket. That thing is a Mountain to Climb. Thankfully I get to put it off a bit more until I can get to the internet shop for the print out (of 80 dang pages of instructions & pattern...).
The Sewing Mount Everest.
In Very cute jacket form...
Bernadette Banner did the launch video for it. Since then a bunch of people in Cos Tube have done their own versions. I think there's a playlist somewheres...
@@handmadeharriells You two stay safe, too.

I am looking for cotton sundress patterns. I live in Florida so I need lighterweight cotton dresses. I am not as talented as you to make my own patterns. Hoping to find free printable patterns online
Any suggestions?
Hi there I have been a subscriber to your UA-cam videos for a while now. I just love what you do. I wanted to know if you was in the Manifest? Playing a mother named Orlena Prager? I was watching it and seen you well I think it's you 😆.
Yes, that was me 😁 Good eye!
oh that Janky store...I want to move in and sew for food
He’s looking for some new sales help 😅😅😅!
Thank you for taking me shopping in the big city. I don't think I could handle those stores, too much stuff in a small place, sensory overload!
Please tell me that wasn't a pickle donut in the 📦 cause it sure looked like a pickle slice on it. 🤢
Also, I already knew you had a beautiful aura, I don't need more time or $3
I would not put a pickle donut past NY foodie shops…but, it was a pistachio cream bombolini 😁 and sooooooooooo good. Though it was like double the price of my suggested reading 😏
@@handmadeharriells ah pistachio! Yummy! That explains the green. Did you know, back in the day pistachios were dyed red so they'd be more appealing, but it was stopped because of that dreaded red dye #whatever that causes cancer.
@@mszoomy I spent a lot of my childhood and young adulthood with pink fingers from that dye. Always wondered why pistachio Jell-O was green when I was a kid when they were so obviously red. lol. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
@@susanrussell8195 LOL me too!! That's why we dont have, or rather, didnt have red M&M's for many years, because of the red dye # whatever that was so bad.
