One of my favorite basses for things like psytrance is to just take a basic saw and lower the first harmonic in order to make it a little more curvy. Love the keep it simple bass advice.

Love this channel he talks about a lot of things that I think about and don't really have the answers to. My biggest problem is boomy kicks and I posted music on Spotify and when i listened to it in big speakers the kick sounds boomy and the volume is off the charts so yeah it sounds like shit hopefully with a little bit more of knowledge and the monitors I bought I may have better control of what I am doing with my kicks. Thanks for the info bro.

Not knowing that takes you on a 10 year long train of trying to make it sound good, and I can easily say that the Ableton 9 909 is a GREAT starting point that gives you freedom of processing.

1.NOT only drum samples,Every sound counts, the quality, tone and general output volume and recorded condition of the samples you combine plays a drastic role to your final mix,OR,if you do NOT want/have samples to use, make sure you process through the Correct chain of plugins each sound (kick, drums, bass, etc) in order to bring them to the desired quality wanted.
2.Swing is a nice technique, but Not the only way to make a groovy rythm, you can always use clever rythms and mathematically clever places on the grid to arrange your drum sounds, and especially the ones that compliment each other, and play with tools like velocity, delay, compressor (in the drum group channel) to bring that personal touch ear candy.
3.Basslines regardless the rythm, must be aligned correctly towards the kick and the balance of levels and tonality must match, eitherwise you will always dislike either the kick , either the base.Learn to use the correct tools to brighten, enhance and compliment your base towards your kick and vice versa,or use the already processed samples that can fit together best (by ear mostly)
For me personally,in electronic dance music the kick is the main foundation and is the first always to start the groove, and later on matching the baseline, along as grouping them nicely.
4.Is a really nice approach, always have a track that you listened and you liked,or a specific genre of music you wanna accomplish, and by visualising the music in your head, you start organising the sounds you need to use to accomplish that sound you have in your head step by step.
5.When stuck its always good to find the next complimentary sound or think the arrangement of a start-run-end kinda procedure,so depending on which part you are you move along creating that drop or breakdown or main session you have and moving onto the next one finding go-to sounds or tool techniques to drive that track into tension.
    Hope these helped.
    Cheers !
