  • In this video, Carlos shows you how to repair a control valve pilot, specifically the 30 HPG pressure pilot. A valve pilot is used to modulate an output pneumatic signal when the monitored pressure changes in relation to the desired set point.

Can you flip the diaphragm and make the pilot change from indirect to direct?

Although there is way to convert the indirect pilot to a direct pilot, it is not by flipping the diaphragm. You'll need to change the position of the pilot plug and the 113 seats and 565 seat. Also the spring part number 108 will need to change to a 585 which is found in the repair kit. The direct pilot will be used in an on/off applications - it is not intended to be used as a proportional signal for throttling a motor valve. While an indirect pilot throttles. There is also a way to make the direct pilot throttle but there will be extra parts needed for that conversion.
We have plans to make another video showing how to assemble it as direct acting, but it's not ready yet. If you need more help, call our technical support and they'll be able to answer any other questions.
