Just bought a pressure washer off Facebook changed the oil and ran for 5 minutes timing belt snapped, so thanks for the video
Thank you …my washer was not starting …it acted out of time … it was !! And your video showed how to set it and it started on 1st pull after resetting…. I bought it as is for $20.00 …now it’s a good buy …..
Good thing this almost never has to be done. In all these years with all of the used and abused GCV160 engines I’ve worked on I don’t think I’ve ever had a timing belt go bad.
how much would this cost?
thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. The info is a great help and please continue to send those very informative videos. I look forward to receiving them from you.
We will continue to do so!
Excellent video. Thanks.
/This is a Good video, but I'm sure I missed something. Does it matter which way the shaft key slot is facing when installing the timing belt?
Exactly why I like good old fashioned pushrod engines so much better
EXACTLY!
Non interference Timing chain is the way to go. Reliability vs preformance.
Thank you so much for this video I finally did what you said on the video and I got my power washer on thank you 🙏👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I noticed that this video shows engine GCV160, is it the same procedure for the GCV190LA? Thank you for this info.
Yes its the same as long as its not the newer gcv170 or gcv200 it will be the same
Where can I get a crankshaft with a metal gear?
Good video I learn something today.
That's great!
Can you tell me what brand of the socket and ratchet you are using?
Craftsman socket wrench set
Honda doesn't suggest prying on the OHV cover because the sealant used by Honda (HondaBond XT) is so hard to remove that you bend the OHV cover trying to release. Also suggest not using any other sealant other than Honda recommended because have done so in the past and it leaks. Same thing goes for prying on the sump to separate. Honda has points cast into the sump and body to help remove the two. The video doesn't show Honda's correct way of setting the timing marks on both the flywheel and shaft key. Not doing so correctly will make the engine not crank after instillation of parts.
Thanks for the warning, so why don't you post a video of the correct procedure?
this may sound like sarcasm, But it's not.
Randy Clay Would post one but would like it to be a well made video and dont have the proper video cameras to do so..
I have same Honda engine My t. belt jump out.I put it back same as you doing.I also check all theeth carefully. After I put it back,Its jump out again in few mintue of running. What could be now I have to check.
+Sukhdev Brar Honda sells a new valve cover that has a guide to keep the timing belt on the cam gear. Part number 12310-Z0J-000
Great video, but you failed to post the torque specs for the crankcase bolts.
According to the factory shop manual for the GCV160, Honda recommends 9 foot pounds (108 inch pounds) torque for all four valve cover mounting bolts. It is also the recommended torque for the muffler shroud bolts, the nuts holding the recoil starter/fuel tank, as well as the bolts holding the two crankcase halves together. Hope this helps.
Snug is the torque spec
Is this the same for the gcv 190
It's the same for all gcv engines
plastic/rubber face dead blow will losen cover without damage. why not share torque specs while you are there?
you gotta let the rtv cure before bolting it down
Thats not true. You're lying.
Wtf um what about the timing
+James Madore 6:43 mark of video.
they told us piston on top dead center and align cam pully marks. its that easy dont overthink it
Sorry, but this is B-crap.
Because of this crapy design you have to remove, and tear down the engine? nope I just wont buy.... go back to pushrods!
It's not very hard to do it just looks complicated but yeah I agree no timing belt replacement on good old push rod engines
Plus you never ever ever have to do this.
Someone gave me one of these for free saying it worked fine until it didn't. Wouldn't start after a shot of ether and a few pulls. Pulled the valve cover off and the exhaust rocker arm was shattered into a few pieces with just the pivot pin portion still attached to the pin. Cam was loose and belt was off. Worked fine til it didn't lol.
