    • @justinwebber9968

You don't lose your rights when you're convicted. It's why the courts are reluctant to drag someone into the courtroom. Let's say one man preemptively murders another to protect his family. He will be convicted, and you will have some believing he deserves damnation and others hailing him a hero. Morality is subjective, and your righteous fury doesn't determine individual treatment. It's objective for a reason, and that's why the plebs are ignored. You will have calmed down in a few days and continue with your life as though nothing ever happened.

Again, I reiterate she should lose her right to choose attending her sentencing. She’s been convicted. It’s simple to me, the victims have more of a right to look her in the face when they read their impact statements. Their rights are the ones that should be protected. Civilised uk eh? More like soft uk.

While I completely respect the feelings of the families, you have to think beyond this case and consider what this would mean if the offender is a gangland figure. It is extremely dangerous to transport an offender who has a high-risk of attempted escape. The manpower needed to escort this person and the potential danger to the public cannot be overstated. Offenders who have nothing to lose are capable of a lot, especially given that they are not typically shackled.
