For anyone else who has to get the particle bouncing *perfectly* at the edges, here's a simple solution once you've done the Replicate3D step: Advance the timeline until the particle is at an edge, select the pBounce node, then adjust the width or height (depending on which edge the particle is at) until the particle is just at the edge of the screen. Saved me a ton of time and tedium. Great tutorial, Patrick!
davinci user here, just to thank you for your tuto's and presets i use it all the time u just made my videos be so much better with a couple of clicks, its really a shame for youtube not to grow ur channel to mill sub where it would be easier for ppl to find u and u really deserve it Keep up the good work u are helping so many ppl all love :)
Nice Tutorial. FYI at the 6:55 mark where you are trying to adjust the camera FOV. A less fiddly way to do that is to view pRender1 on left, Merge3D1 on right. Select pBounce1 and Camera3D1 in flow. zoom the Merge3D1 view until you are looking at the lower corner of the Bounce bound box, then using the Camera3D1 Transform Z wheel (holding CTRL), adjust until the Frustum line crosses at the corner and bisects the depth line of bound box. Fast, easy and fairly precise. Using multiple views and selected nodes is very powerful in Fusion. If you don't like using the Wheel control, then you can use the mouse in the pRender1 view to move camera in Z and watch for the intersect in the Merge3D1 view. -Keep up the good work.
Hey man, thank you so much for this. I wanted to make a break screen for my streams and got the idea of the bouncing dvd logo. Googled it and you video popped up. I've never done anything like this in DaVinci Resolve and with your instructions and about an hour of work, I now have a perfect pause screen for my streams. Thank you again for this great video!
Check out Simon Ubsdell on UA-cam, he uses an expression for the generation of the particle so he doesn't have to use any key frame. And thanks for this tutorial, I was looking for something interacting with boundaries.
So, I'm just learning this for a project and I have no idea how to use fusion, is there anyway (anyone that can please give me a step-by-step guide) on how I could do a sort of trail to the bouncing image? Maybe increasing the particle numbers and "slowing" them, but how do I do it exactly? Thanks to anyone that can help me! And of course to Patrick for doing the exact video I was needing for this project lol
If anyone else is struggling with the image plane bouncing outside the screen after resizing the pEmitter, here's a nice way to make this workflow quicker: 1. When you create the pCustom node, pin the pBounce node to the inspector, and add an Expression to each of the three size values in the pCustom node. 2. Click and drag from the plus icons to the equivalent pBounce properties. This will result in expressions like "pBounce.CubeRgn.Width". Your pCustom Width, Height, and Depth will now be locked to the size of the pBounce region, so now you can resize only one cube and keep everything in line.
Hey guys anyone know where do I put transitions and effects and titles and lut files in order that they should appear in the edit tab? Browsing online, I get two different answers, and I'm so confused Option 1 ProgramData\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Fusion\Templates\Edit\Transitions (and I had to create the edit and transition folders at the end because they were not there...) option 2 C:\Users\myuser\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Fusion\Templates\Edit\transitions Option 3 C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Fusion\Templates\Edit\transitions So looks like resolve created 3 full directories on my PC that all seem to have the same folders buried deep inside.
I am really confused about why are there so many directories that Davinci creates. What the difference is between the ProgramData vs the Roaming vs program files directories are used for. thanks so much If someone can help me with my OCD with keeping things nice and neat, I would so greatly appreciate it
Not trying to make a wall of text, but I don't want these comments to get lost behind the fold. The script used to randomize the color is not quite accurate. It *works*, but only because Lua is forgiving. When you check for equality (ex: RgnHit equals 1), you want to use two equals signs "==". One equals sign is actually used for assigning a value. Like I said, it works here because you *can't* assign a value to RgnHit, but I don't want anyone to struggle elsewhere with their code because they've mixed up the equality and assignment operators.

That's incredible! Thanks so much for telling me 🤘🤘
this is the exact reason im here. thought about making it a looping gif in procreate but thats a lot of frames lol
I can't believe how many tools Fusion has that I was never even told about. Makes me wanna build some crazy stuff
IF YOU WANT TO DO AN IMAGE INSTEAD OF A SQUARE:
MediaIn1 -> ImagePlane3D1 -> Replicate3D1 instead of 3d shape
do you knoow how to change the colours for it tho?
@@jobowisheshewasnomo4171 same process as shown in the video if i remember correctly. it’s been months.
Amazing tips and knowledge packed video. Thank you.
great video, ty! do you know a way to have it that on each hit it changes to a different logo or image?
Just great! It opens for me so many new ideas for motion graphics. Thank you Patrick!
Yes! This reminds me of an episode of The Office! Love knowing how to do this! Thank you! 🥳🎉Hope you have a happy Tuesday 2-22-22!🎉🥳
The name of the guy he references in the video is Noah Hähnel.
I cannot wait to do this to my starting scene. Awesome content Patrick. Thank you.
is there a way to do you what you did with having loads of particles boucning at different speeds and all have them be different images?
is there a way to change the background? I wanted to try and make something that's not just the black screen but I can't figure it out.
OK YES! I'm more than interested in a preset! Partly because I'm a newbie to editing in general. But I guarantee I will make very good use of it!
thanks, this helped a lot. i appreciate your help my dude!
Did this ever get made into a preset?
Yes! ua-cam.com/video/7KgcxIjC1-A/v-deo.html
Can anyone tell me how to change the colour of a custom image i've put in?
Cool video. Can you make it without the box, so it can be used with a logo?
Does anyone know if you can replace the text box with an image?
MediaIn1 -> ImagePlane3D1 -> Replicate3D1 instead of 3d shape
Copied this from a commenter above.

Love Simon's work. 🤘
@@PatrickStirling yeah he's very good!
I have a question, did I missed something about "rgnhit"? Is it an internal variable referencing another node?
yup inside that pcustom node we set up a custom region so that's an internal expression that triggers when a particle hits that region
@@PatrickStirling thanks

Can you do a tutorial on how to do it for a phone, or even make one for phones
Yo patrick, can you make a 3D zoom effects tutorial? thanks :D
Plzzzz make this a preset 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
