I loved Sheila Heti’s Pure Colour and, even after reading it, I couldn’t tell you what it’s about, exactly. It’s a novel to experience for the pleasure of words and whimsical ideas that strike an existential chord.
Sea of Tranquility is connected to Station Eleven but more so Glass Hotel, it's not an official sequel but you would get more from it if you were familar with the shared characters from Glass Hotel. Also on the personal note, Glass Hotel is my favourite of her works when I thought Sea of Tranquility was a step down from her previous work. So I would recommend it at any rate Always love your list videos 🤎
I've read four from the list. My favorite was definitely Young Mungo. My favorite book from 2022 in general is Demon Copperhead. Great video as always.
Currently reading Trust, which I wasn’t that drawn to from the Booker long list but I’m really enjoying it - the writing is superb. Possibly now my favourite from that list
I have heard some people on BookTube mentioning Aue, but it doesn't seem like anyone I follow has actually read it. I've read it. Some elements of the story were very stressful/frustrating and some parts didn't seem entirely realistic, but other than that, I thought it was quite decent. I would like to hear someone else's opinion.
I've only read 3 so far, most are on reserve at the library, but I probably won't get to them this year. I've read The Sea of Tranquillity, Our Missing Hearts and Booth, probably would rank them in that order for enjoyment. I'm currently enjoying Shrines of Gaiety and The Seven Moons is next. My favourite books so far this year is not on the list - Here Goes Nothing by Steve Toltz, it's one of the darkly funniest books I've ever read.
I've read 9 of them - Tiepolo Blue and Young Mungo were both excellent - Booth, The Colony and Nightcrawling were also very good. Trust, Seven Moons, Glory and Sappho were dreadful.
I’ve only read three on that list The Colony The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida Young Mungo There are several I want to read Trust Tiepolo Blue Nightcrawling 🍀👋☘️📕📚📖☕️
This has nothing to do with today's video but I'm curious and can't wait to ask... Have you read The rent collector by Camron Wright...? I just heard of it today and found the blurb interesting....
Have to admit that Kamila Shamsie 's new book was a DNF for me. Was so disappointed as I loved Home Fire but it was so underwhelming. Since then I found out that many people have had the same reaction
Nightcrawling is one of the most amazing books I've read this year!!!! I was shocked when it wasn't shortlisted for the Booker Prize!
Trevor was my very favourite character of the literary year.
Yes 💕
Just popping into note that I've only found your channel in the last few months and really enjoy it.
Thank you! 😊📚

Great! I kind of love it when books can't be summarised and must be experienced.

Thank you! I’ll definitely read the previous before this new one then. 😊📚

your suggestion is intriguing; I'll check this out
How many ‘best’ books can we have in a year?!
Have to admit that Kamila Shamsie 's new book was a DNF for me. Was so disappointed as I loved Home Fire but it was so underwhelming. Since then I found out that many people have had the same reaction
Interesting. Yeah, I’ve seen mixed things about it so I’m keeping my expectations low. 😅
Yay new video!
