Ed, your tutorials have been very helpful....thank you. Also, I have watched many videos on youtube about the Fantom 8 and noticed that everyone has the keyboard connected with high impedance cables. No one uses balanced to record. Why is that? Is there a problem with the balanced output on the Fantom?

Mine will not update the second board. I did not open the bin file.

Are these updates cumulative? For instance , do I need to install 1.5 and 1.6 before installing 2.0? Or does 2.0 also includes all previous updates?

Many brands/models of thumb drives seem not to work. Roland should list known compatible ones.

@@ChandramouleswaranRavichandran Hi. I had the same trouble but I solved it like this:
Don't switch power OFF button if you still stay on the second step for to update via EXT USB!!! You can lose everything.
1. Try to use another USB memory stick.
2. Delete all old files from him and then format him to fat32. If you have a new USB memory stick do the same formatting.
I for ex. used new SanDisk stick of 4GB, first formatted in fat32 cause old one didn't work as he must. I made just first step with him.
3. Copy on your PC 3 files from the unmounted (from .zip) map "fantom678_sys_v250" and connect your new memory USB into USB port 2. (If still don't work, try port 1 or 3.
If you don't see update progress on the screen, just try to repeat all steps with another (better a new) USB memory flash stick. I think do not buy a new stick with to big memory. From 1GB to Max. 32GB will be enough.
I hope you will reanimate your fantom.

You know, the JDXI Was impressive at first, but the more i use it, the more it feels like a toy. The sounds don't feel authentic. I want that Super saw wave you get in hard trance. I was gonna get a roland SH-01 but i REALLY don't wanna take the risk. I guess i might anyway.
